Day 1: Auckland - RotoruaStart in Auckland. Walk the spectacular Karangahake Gorge, visit a working Kiwifruit orchard, and sail across Lake Rotoiti on our private charter yacht for a soak in natural hot pools reached only by boat!

Day 2: Rotorua tours and activities Enjoy a free morning for activities before a Tarawera hosted lunch with Karen and David.

Day 3: Rotorua - Tongariro National Park Visit the geothermal reserve of Wai-O-Tapu, the ‘Great Lake’ Taupo famous for Huka Falls, and the magnificent views of our three volcanoes, Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and Ruapehu.

Day 4: Tongariro National Park - Wellington Start your day at the historic Chateau Tongariro with the opportunity for some spectacular walks. Then through to Wellington and enjoy Mt Victoria’s stunning views of Wellington harbour.

Day 5: Explore Wellington Explore the bustling cultural hub of café’s, bars, art galleries and museums.

Where do we stay?After a great day out exploring being comfortable each night is really important. You’ll sleep soundly in hand-picked accommodation, places we know and stay in ourselves. Our hotels are generally 4 star and just a short walk to town.

What are the meals like?Lots of people tell us they love our hosted lunches! Breakfasts are buffet style, usually with hot cooked fare and fresh fruit and cereal. Dinners are free for you to choose from a range of options close by.

What about optional activities?In each place we visit there’s time for you to enjoy the best activities and attractions. Many people book these before they arrive, or your Kiwi Guide can help you too. All the iconic activities you’ve heard about are here - Maori concert & hangi in Rotorua, Zealandia eco sanctuary in Wellington, glacier flights in Mount Cook or jet boating in Queenstown, just to name a few...

Travel StyleWe have a mix of single and multi night stays, for example on our 21 day Kakapo tour there are five two night stays and one three night stay. We break driving up with plenty of photo stops and short walks. Often we travel for half the day with the other half free for activities or relaxing. Days normally start around 8am, but you get a few sleep ins too. We arrive at our hotels at least an hour before dinner, often earlier. Groups are very friendly and social, a lot of people say it’s like travelling with a group of old friends!

Because our groups are small and personal – 18 is the absolute maximum – you’ll find you’ll get to know everyone and make new friends in no time. Around 25% are exploring on their own and the rest are couples or travelling with friends. Whether you’re travelling solo or together our Kiwi guide is there every step of the way, taking care of everyone’s particular interests, and ensuring you get the best out of each amazing day.

How do we travel around?Travel is in our late model (2014 or newer) purpose built, midsize tour coaches. One of the great things about our coaches is that we can get off the beaten track to places that the big tour coaches just can’t go.
