Our salary survey has been conducted since the start of talentorder in 2018.
We have accumulated, confidentially, the results from over 250 FinTech professionals operating in the UK.
Our survey covers management and leadership role types and not all job categories. We can direct you
to other sources for further job category salary information, such as ‘development’ and ‘accounting’.
We have also listened, through experience, to what clients and candidates have requested to be
included in a salary survey - simple, core package components, trends noticed and the low and high
salary bandings.
You will note that the bandings for some role types are very broad. This typically represents candidates on
a lower salary that work for seed funded FinTech businesses and much higher salaries for funded large
global, FinTech businesses.
UK FinTech Salary Survey Summary
The FinTech job market has changed significantly, throughout the year of 2018, and we have seen a 110%
increase in the demand for regulatory roles available. These roles are often at a more senior level, within
the business, and with a larger remit than before (global).
Salary levels for a professional operating within FinTech, range from £28,000 up to £450,000, but this range
reflects a real range of responsibility and leadership within the business.
Executives for many FinTech role positions at the early stage of growth, are on relatively low basic salaries
compared to other industries such as traditional Banking, but have much greater value benefits and
stock options are offered.
At the top end, with a global remit, professionals either report to the board directly, or are sitting on the
board. In which case they hold options within the business and excellent bonus opportunities exceed
100% of basic salary in some cases.
At the lower end of the salary scale, FinTech professionals are likely to work in sales, or
operational roles with a UK centric focus only.

The highest concentration of FinTech professionals are operating in London (over 70%).
Typically, they will focus only on a specific task, and further away from board level, sometimes removed
by 3-4 layers of management.
With FinTech professionals reaching a senior level, in a relatively short period of time for start-up and
growth businesses, we were interested in knowing that they where comfortable with looking at new
opportunities, every 12 months, to secure a fresh challenge.
We found that many had no issues with moving in short periods of time, as they feel this is
understandable, based on the risk, change and growth the FinTech market continues to go through.
What is next for the FinTech professional was also of interest to us, with most responders stating
that they would look for another role, typically outside, of their employer, but with a greater
remit. Relatively few respondents were looking for slow and structured career progression
within their current employment.

The benefit of most desire, if looking to change roles, was “shares”.
