Any child ages 1-18 can show up at a summer food site (there are more than 125 sites in Sacramento County) and eat a free lunch. This program is intended to provide the nutritious lunch that so many kids depend on during the summer months, when school is out of session. Sites are located in kid-friendly places such as parks, recreation centers and apartment complexes. To find out about sites in your neighborhood, call the Summer Food Service Program at (916) 324-6153. Jobs Whether you baby-sit, bag groceries, or serve food, having a summer job gets you some extra cash and prevents boredom during those long, lazy summer days.
