It is an exciting time at the CMHF as we advance our mission thanks to vital and meaningful partnerships at many levels and the impacts of our programs in our 25th year of service are detailed well on the pages that follow. We are encouraged that our capacity to do more going forward was strengthened this year with significant partner investments: substantial operational support from the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) for three years commencing in 2020 and program support from MD Financial Management across all our programs, including the Discovery Days in Health Sciences national presenting sponsorship.
Change was also a theme for us in 2019 and it came in many forms:
• After 16 years, we transitioned to temporary space at 100 Kellogg Lane in London, ON in anticipation of developing our new Exhibit Hall space and offices in the North Tower in 2020. This exciting, interactive destination will be home to the Children’s Museum, an indoor adventure park, retail markets, a boutique hotel and an active outdoor courtyard to name a few; an amazing co-location model that means more guests will experience the sense of pride we know comes with exploring our physical Laureate displays.
• We undertook a review of our corporate identity and unveiled a new and contemporary brand, look and feel across all our programs.
• We engaged in a strategic planning exercise to lay the groundwork for further impact with emerging health leaders and youth.
• Our Virtual Exhibit Hall project got underway with valued leadership and support from board members, Laureates, CMHF Award recipients and the CMA.
Our foundation for further advancement has never been stronger. Thank you to our partners, Laureates, donors and volunteers for supporting us in our efforts to celebrate role models for the next generation of Canadian health leaders.

We invite you to be
inspired. MISSION
Recognize and celebrate Canadian heroes whose work has advanced health; inspire the pursuit of careers in the health sciences.
VISION
A Canada that honours our medical heroes – those of the past, present and future.
Our new logo embodies elements of our mission:
• Emblematic of our Laureates, the stylized laurel represents honour, prestige, education, excellence.
• The sequence of leaves symbolizes connection between generations as emerging leaders continue the work of the giants who came before them.
• The partial maple leaf conveys a Canadian heritage treasure.

CMHF Award recipients received a cash award, complimentary travel and admission to the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and the opportunity to meet and learn first-hand from our Laureates. Together, they also enjoyed a private networking breakfast.
CMHF Laureates cite qualities such as perseverance, collaboration and an entrepreneurial spirit as contributors to their success as national and world health leaders.
We celebrate the achievements of the giants of health care in Canada to fuel our pride, but also to inspire the next generation of health leaders with world changing potential.
Through the CMHF Award we aim to:
• Call out the leaders among them
• Facilitate collaboration and mentorship so that they may also achieve significant impact in their own careers
• Challenge them to “think like a Laureate”
• Promote networking opportunities for shared support to foster a growing community of Canadian talent committed to improved care and health outcomes
Canada’s medical schools are invited to identify a second year student who demonstrates these qualities.

2019 CMHF Award Recipients’ Feedback
I am so incredibly humbled by this nomination. This award represents the efforts of the many people who have mentored me and supported my work and to them I am immensely grateful.
For one to even be mentioned in the same sentence as many of the laureates is a great honour. It was a truly humbling experience and one that I am very proud to have had the opportunity to experience.
This is truly a great honour to have been chosen for this award. I felt even more proud when I got to know the other brilliant candidates and that my accomplishments were deemed to the same caliber as theirs.

DREAM BIG. WORK HARD. RESPECT OTHERS. HAVE FUN.
Students in grades seven and eight from St. Anne Catholic Elementary, Westminster Central, Éva Circé-Côté French Immersion and Summers’ Corners Public Schools spent a week in our Exhibit Hall in an interactive environment that touches on all aspects of school curriculum. They learned about the Laureates and Canada’s rich medical history, visited Banting House, conducted science experiments and heard from several community health presenters, all the while imagining and writing about their own health discovery.

I am so impressed at the key messages that the students took to heart, which were Museum School’s goal too, like to dream big, persevere, try everything, think outside the box, have fun and to respect and work together.
Teacher Comment
They really appreciated the knowledge they gained through experts in the fields presented and enjoyed the engaging presentations of each of the presenters. Several students walked away being more informed about conditions that people they know are living with. I am so grateful that my class was selected to participate in this week long opportunity. We made so many wonderful memories together.
