Our 2019 festival programme hasbeen put together to include walksto suit varying abilities andinterests. Each walk is typicallygraded as follows:Easy - An easy paced walk overvaried terrain with only gentleslopes (No longer than 4 miles)Moderate - An easy paced walkover varied terrain with some hillysections (4 - 7 miles)Hard - A slightly faster pacedwalk with varied terrain and hills (7- 10 miles)Strenuous - A varied all daywalk covering longer distances(10+ miles)The duration of each walk hasbeen estimated by the walk leader.Sometimes walks take longer thanestimated e.g. if there are largenumbers of walkers or difficultconditions underfoot on the day orit is necessary to change the routeslightly due to path closures.Each walker is responsible for theirown safety and for determiningtheir capability to complete thechosen walk. Attendance at awalk/event is at your own risk.The walk leaders are in charge ofthe walk. Their decision onparticipation is final. The walkleaders are experienced but haveto take your word that you aresufficiently fit for your chosen walk.The Dursley area is hilly and manyof the walks will be strenuous -please consider any health issuesyou may have before deciding tojoin the walks and advise walkleaders of any concerns beforesetting off.Please do not walk ahead of theleader unless asked.Many of the walks involve stilesand/or kissing gates so weapologise that, for this reason,many of the walks may not beaccessible for people with somemobility issues or may beunsuitable for push chairs. Pleasecheck with walk leaders in advance.

What to bring on the walk.Appropriate footwear and clothingmust be worn. There have beenreports of more ticks than usual inrecent years. For this reason wesuggest that you wear longsleeved shirts and trousers ratherthan shorts.Please ensure that you take a drinkwith you and a snack or packedlunch where necessary.Please do not feed any animalsyou meet on the walks and makesure that you take all litter homewith you.

Dogs on Festival WalksDogs are allowed on some walks(see individual walk details). Theowner is always responsible fortheir dog. Dogs must be well behavedand kept on a short lead and undercontrol at all times. The ownermust ensure that their dog does nottrip, alarm or inconvenience otherpeople or cause damage. Theymust clean up after their dog. If awalk leader thinks that your dog isnot sufficiently well behaved youwill not be allowed to join the walk.Walks may contain stiles whichdogs could find difficult tonegotiate. When walking througha field containing livestock orhorses, people with dogs shouldwalk at the back of the group.Dogs must not worry livestock. Ifthe livestock/horses becomethreatening then please let the doggo. The dog will be able to runaway and the livestock/horses’interest will be diverted from thewalkers to the dog.

Family FriendlyUnder 18’s and vulnerable

people must be accompanied by aresponsible adult.The Dursley Walking Festivalincludes several family friendlywalks which are marked out by thissymbol.
