Raised in Morganton, NC by two godly parents Stephanie graduated high school having already studied abroad for a year. Her family was so proud of their 1st generation college student. Her charmed life continued as she excelled in college and enjoyed campus life. Stephanie received academic scholarships while in college and was Vice President of her sorority. Sadly, though, she was severely injured her senior year. Pain medication was legitimately prescribed, and this began the start of her addiction that would see her through an almost 10-year spiral. Miracle—Stephanie’s remained in and out of detox facilities, trying to become sober more for others rather than herself. Shame and guilt ultimately increased because she couldn’t quit. As she says, “There were a lot of prayers going out for me, but I couldn’t get sober. I felt like if I loved God enough or if I was a good enough person, I’d change. Then, my thinking somehow became twisted into that ‘if God loved me enough, He’d change me.’” Miracle—In March 2017, Stephanie found herself for the first time in trouble with the law, having been arrested on a drug charge. This was her ‘wake up call.’ On May 05, 2017, this deeply loved young woman found herself in the local hospital’s psychiatric ward feeling spiritually bankrupt. Unemployed and unemployable. She was at rock bottom. Miracle—Stephanie began a 12-Step program that rippled to another miracle. “I started having a real A Domino of Miracles written by Bettie Green (THCC Volunteer) When a Harvest Center participant’s life is transformed, it has a domino effect in the lives of so many others. After graduating from the residential program, she knew she needed help for long term recovery. Someone mentioned The Harvest Center and since it was a long-term, Christian transformation program, she was excited to give it a try. While in the program, Ed Smith, Core Services Coordinator, often came to transport participants to and from their courses at The Harvest Center. Ed encouraged and motivated Stephanie and the other participants to save their money, focus on building positive relationships, and utilize the tools offered within the classes. In the Jobs for Life Course, Stephanie took classes that focused on budgeting, resume development, job search and interviewing techniques. Stephanie specifically remembers Titus Broom, Transformation Specialist. “Titus is not just an effective speaker or teacher; he is able to connect with participants and offer encouragement that comes from a place of understanding. You left a class with Titus feeling as though not just that you could, but that you would succeed. Miracle—Today, Stephanie is with her boys quarantined due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She’s working from home as well as homeschooling her sons. Her sons are in 3rd and 5th grades and enjoy giving to others. Stephanie says, “It is only through building a relationship with God, working a program of recovery, and staying in the solution that I’ve accomplished anything. And none of those things were created without the help of the people at The Harvest Center. If you would’ve told me 3 years ago that today I would be a good mother who has a personal relationship with God, be a reliable employee, and a contributing co-parent, I would never have believed you. It’s truly a miracle all that’s been restored and given to me as a result of this process.” Stephanie concludes, “When a Harvest Center participant’s life is transformed, it has a domino effect in the lives of so many others. It reduces the chance that a negative influence will be imitated. It’s much bigger than just transforming lives. It’s how that transformation positively effects all of our children, parents, aunts and uncles, cousins, grandparents, friends, church families, co-workers and bosses… communities.” Curtis and Tonya Foster Patricia and Alex Funderburg Todd Gaylord Patricia and Peter Gemmill Kristine Gentilella Kenneth Giesman Giving Tag Nathaniel Glasser Justin Glatzer Thom and Amy Goeken Susan Goode Michael R Grace John Graham Jonathan and Rhea Greene Marcy and Dev Gregg Jonathan Greveling Martha Griffin Todd and Wanda Townsend Fund Joseph Hahn Myrna Morgan Hall Dana Hanson Harrison and Margaret Marshall Charitable Fund Patricia and Donald Harrison, Jr. Michelle Hasse Paul and Lorri Hattenhauer Jeffrey and Nora Head Wendy Hecimovich Claire and John Herring Henry and Mary Lou Herring Dominic Hilton Juliet and Brian Hirsch Beverly and Mark Hogan Tony and Andrea Hollins Whitney and Justin Holofchak Melinda Holt Trey Jackson Hopper, III Steve and Kathryn Horvath Tiffany Noel Hubbard Jim and Jane Huddle Debbie Hughes Marcus Hughes Timothy Humanik Patricia and Michael Hunter Jerome D Igle Julianne Inozemcev Michael Jackson Chad Jenkins Joe Gibbs Racing Bryce Johnson Elaine Johnson Ronald and Sheila Johnson Sharon and Dirk Johnston Danya Jordan Shannon Justice The Keith Corporation Kendra Scott Breigh Kenley Jim Kenney Dustin Keppler Kathleen and Ed Kilbourne Katie and Buddy Kirk Noelle Kiser Joel Knight Bryan and Suzanne Knupp Tracy Kraus Alanea and James Kriete La-Tea-Das Candice Lake Joy Lamb Ron Lamberth Richard Lancaster Danelle Lane Candice Langston Tammie Lankford Gaye Booth and Vernon Larry Margaret and Donald Lee Myra and Jeff Lee Legrand, North America Christa Lineberger Sylvia Link Robert and Nancy Little Helena Lopez Charles Lyle Kevin Lyons Franklin Martin Mary and Gary Martin Clay McCullough Denise and Marshall McMillan Alston and Glenn McNairy Anne and Carl Lee McPhail Mecklenburg Guardian Ad Litem Kathryn Jeanne Mervine Jill Miller Tommy Miller Tosha Miller Tim Miner Frank Mingo Kasper Mingo Taria Mingo Mount Zion Christian Ministries Marquitta Minniefield Marty Moore Jon and Michelle Morris Steve Motley Belinda Mullens Janet Garner Mullins Linde and Bill Mullis William Mullis Scott and Lisa Munday Linh and Alan Murdock Brad Murr Brenda Murray Lynn Myrich N Shape with N Clark Neilson Network for Good Carl and Kathleen Neun Elizabeth Nichols Melissa and Bruce Noll Daniel Norton Novant Health April Nuckolls Matt Olin Blair Oliver Michael and Allison Ortlip Charles Dan Owens Justin Owens Jennifer Owensby Randy Pace Andrew Derek Painter Bill Paquette Jon Paquette Jeff Parker Juan Parsons Anne Bullock and Scott Perper Geoff Peters Michael & Kristen Phalen Courtney Pharr Ohavia Phillips Isabella Pickett Piedmont Club Foundation Colin Pinkney Terrill Pinkney David and Kimberly Powell Profectus LLC Abby Puckett Katherine and Hunter Pugh Lynn and Preston Purdum, III Frances Queen John Ramey James Walker Ratchford Andrea Reed Nettie Reeves Kristen Reilley Rhino Market & Deli Brian Richards Cassandra Ridenhour John Riggins Drema Robinson George Robinson Stephen Roe David Rosenbaum Donald Wayne Rush, Jr. Glenn Saliga Nate Salley Patrick Sarsfield, II Lisa Marie Schehr Mary Schelling Joseph Schold Michael Scott Javarde O’Brian Seay Crystal and Steve Sellers Senior Rockers Sharon Baptist Church Sharonview Federal Credit Union Eric Shelton Ashley Y Sherrill Showalter Construction Co. renovated THCC envisions a world in which situationally homeless individuals and families break free from poverty, to fulfill their potential, and lead their families to a better way of life.

As I complete my 7th year as your Executive Director—I am increasingly inspired by the success of our alumni and graduates. The most rewarding part of my role is witnessing how they are achieving their dreams, making positive change in the world, and thriving in all areas of their lives. As we celebrate them, let us be reminded, they are made in the image of God and possess strengths and potential to achieve greater things than we have imagined for them!

In the face of a global health crisis and growing social unrest we are, still, advancing our mission to create community and transform lives and I am happy to report, 2019 was our most productive year, ever! We fully renovated 13, two-bedroom apartments, built strategic partnerships with 12 service providers to improve the life skills of our participants, refined our daily operations to improve outcomes for our graduates, and we received the highest amount of financial donations in the past 7 years!

Our donors are the reason we can look ahead with optimism and hope.

In 2020 we will take the necessary steps to expand our capacity to serve more homeless neighbors and transform more lives through our transitional housing ministry, The Charlotte Passport Program.

While the work of transforming lives has never been easy, it is more critical now due to the economic impact of COVID -19. Our Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and partners remain committed to breaking these generational cycles of homelessness and we pray you are too. Thank you for your previous donations and we respectfully ask for your continued support!

Let’s work together to see 2,000 lives transformed for the Glory of God and the good of our community!

Your friend,

Colin PinkneyVisionary & Executive Director
