Have You Heard About K-POP?By: Phraewa E. 305 & Victoria A. 308

Korean pop or K-pop is distinct from other genres because the beats and vibe are different. K-pop uses dance choreography. Some things that are the same is that some K-pop songs have similar instruments in them just like all the other genres. K-pop idols are very attractive. Many K-pop boy bands have feminine faces and are called “flower boys.” K-pop songs are very inspiring because the lyrics are deep and it talks about many problems that fans can relate to. K-pop artists are very nice, caring and genuine to their fans and they also share problems that they go through. They’re unique in their own ways. K-pop artists

Q: Tell me something that is awesome about you that Goudy students don’t know:

A: I am a proud graduate of Chicago Public Schools. I went to Gale Elementary School and Amundsen High School. I am also the youngest of eight children!

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: I like interacting with children on a daily basis. It always brings me joy to inspire their learning and teach them new things.

Q: How long have you been working at Goudy School?

A: I have been working at Goudy School for 22 years (but don’t think I’m that old).

Q: What is the hardest thing about your job?

A: The hardest thing about my job is making sure that students can see their own potential. It is my job to motivate them and always be searching for new ways to make learning interesting.

Q: Why do you like teaching Social Studies?

A: I like teaching Social Studies because it gives me an opportunity to show students how history repeats itself, and how many of the decisions that our founding fathers made affect our lives today.

The song talks about problems that many people face and gives me advice. Additionally, the cry in their voice made the song even more precious and the piano in the song really made it sad and catchy. Many fans say their music is fun even though their lyrics are hard to understand. Their choreography is very difficult and animated which makes their music even more enjoyable to watch and listen to. It is these reasons why I think K-Pop is excellent.

Girls Volleyball Update

By: Melissa L. & Edelawit A.The Girls Volleyball Team had a great season. The team played McPherson, Lane Tech and Bell. They were undefeated in their 3 regular season games. Bezawit Negash reported, “We’ve won every game so far!” This past weekend, they fought hard against Cooley in the playoffs. Despite their hard work, they lost 22 to 25. Good luck next year!

Movie ReviewThe Nightmare Before

It is almost Christmas and Halloween

was 1 month ago. So today we are talking

about The Nightmare Before Christmas, a

Tim Burton film from 1993.

In the Nightmare Before Christmas, Jack Skellington - the Pumpkin King - got bored because it was the same holiday every year, Halloween. Then, Jack stumbled into a portal and realized he was in Christmas Town. Since Jack was bored, he thought that it would be something new stepping into Santa’s shoes. So he captured Santa and took his role. But the kids were horrified at the gifts that Jack gave because they were tiny monsters, and it chased them around the house. Seeing this, Jack decided to go back to what he knew best, Halloween. That made him happy again. The lesson here is to be an expert in your field and let others be the expert in theirs. The Nightmare Before Christmas was a good movie and I thought it was very special. The movie has great characters such as Jack Skellington, Sally (Jack’s friend) , and Zero (Jack’s pet). Watching this led me to a theory that before Jack Skellington died, he was the Headless Horseman, or Victor from the corpse bride. Plus the songs were creative and the movie has great graphics which makes the whole movie unique. So, I will give this movie 4.6 out of 5 because Halloween is my favorite holiday.

We surveyed 167 people from 5th-8th grades to see what their favorite school lunch is. Students had to choose from curly fries, tacos, pizza sticks and eggs with cheese. We chose these four options because sometimes people wouldn’t pick up lunches or wouldn’t eat what they pick up. However, when we have these four options people pick it up and eat it. The highest vote went to curly fries with 63.8%, (114 votes), and the runner up was the pizza sticks with 15.6% (26 votes). We also wanted to know why people liked these options too, so we interviewed some students from the third floor, asking them what they voted for and why.

“I like the pizza sticks even though I don't eat school lunch because its like a better version of the pizza.” -Victoria, Grade 7

“The pizza sticks because they’re yummy and remind me of pizza.” -Jakema, Grade 5

“I like curly fries because they taste good and are crispy.” -Valentina, Grade 5

Did you know? A new gaming console,

Playstation 5, is coming out in 2020. Yippie!

Let’s compare the different features on

Playstation 4 to Playstation 5. Well, the

PS4’s quality is 4K; whereas, the new PS5’s

quality will increase to a whopping 8K!

When thinking of space, the PS4’s storage

is 500GB, but the PS5’s storage will definitely

be larger. In addition, the PS5 will have the

capability to beam straight to the

Holographic Emitter. Fear not, the new PS5

will include a backside where you can play

PS4 games as well. Unfortunately, the PS4

had only one side compatible for discs,

Blu-ray, and DVD’s. Finally, the PS4

Controller Touchpad was limited, allowing

only pressing and swiping, but PS5’s

Controller Touchpad has increased the

functional options. Frantastic!
