WHO WE AREDear Friend,

A life without friendship or purpose is no life at all. Every day, a staggering number of children and young adults with special needs face their world alone. Friendship Circle of Passaic County was founded in pursuit of breaking down these walls of isolation. By identifying the overwhelming need for a place of friendship and inclusion for individuals with special needs, Friendship Circle is living out a critical mission through something as pure as friendship.

Since its founding in 2004, Friendship Circle of Passaic County has proudly served hundreds of children with special needs with the help of hundreds of weekly volunteers and over 30 weekly and seasonal programs, and we aren’t stopping there. Every year we aim to add to our roster of programs, with the ultimate goal of creating a permanent home for our community.

In the past we have held a yearly Walk-a-Thon and family festival fundraiser at Wayne Valley High School's track and field. We did this in 2013, 2014, and 2015 but had to take a break for a bit, however we are ready to do it again for 2019! This years event we are calling: FriendshipMarch 2019. It will be an amazing day of raising awareness for special needs children, adults, and their special families. We aim to include as many supporters from the community from various backgrounds coming together and marching as one.

This year our goal is to raise over $75,000, much of which can be achieved through corporate sponsorships as well as individual peer to peer fundraising. We are asking companies to step up and play a key role in the success of these events. As a Friendship Circle sponsor, not only will your company stand for an invaluable cause, but also gain from relevant brand exposure across Passaic County.

We invite you to review this years package and levels, as well as the incentives that come along with it. Thank you in advance for your thoughtful consideration and for working to reinforce our place within the community we serve.

In Friendship,

Rabbi Mayer and Chanie GurkovMarch Directors

ABOUT FRIENDSHIP CIRCLEThe Friendship Circle extends a helping hand to families who have children with special needs and involves them in a full range of social, and community experiences. The Circle's unique formula introduces teenage volunteers to the children and their families, and through the shared experiences, all are enriched. The child with special needs looks forward to the opportunity to play with and learn from their older friends.

The teenage volunteer learns the value of giving, and cherishes the experience of making a difference in a child's life and bringing a smile to his or her face. The child's family gets a needed respite and the pleasure of seeing their child become a part of the community circle.

PHILOSOPHYOur philosophy is based on the belief that each special child is a valuable and important member of our community, with an integral role in its growth and development. Each child has the right to an adapted education, opportunities for improving life skills and communication and socio-emotional support. We as members of the community must offer our respect for their strengths while focusing on supporting their needs. We must build on the similarities of the special child and other children and accept the differences. The family must be an integral part of this effort, their input treated with respect and their participation in planning individual programs for their child encouraged.

OBJECTIVES To raise consciousness in the community and be of help to its special need members. The Friendship Circle strives to create a bond between teenagers and special needs youngsters. Our objective is three fold: 1. To provide an additional program for children with special needs .2. To help shape the personality and sense of responsibility of teenagers.3. To offer a weekly respite for the family. It endeavors to meet the social and emotional needs of each child in a comprehensive, professional and effective manner. It will foster volunteerism, compassion among our youth. It will battle prejudice and encourage inclusion and opportunities for integration.

THE FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE COMMUNITYWho is Included in the Friendship Circle Community? The Friendship Circle is made up of five parts: volunteers, children, parents, staff, and supporters. The true beauty of the Circle is how all the parts are linked together to form a seamless circle of friendship. Each population is unique in its own way and their specific needs are taken into account by the Friendship Circle administration.

STATS AND FIGURESThe Friendship Circle was founded in 2004-2005 School year. Since then, the Friendship Circle has been providing assistance and support to the families of children with special needs as well as to individuals and families struggling with addiction, isolation, and other crises. In addition to helping those in need, the Friendship Circle empowers and enriches its network of volunteers, the majority of whom are teenagers, by enabling them to reap the vast rewards of giving of themselves. Due to your generosity and others like you, we will be able to increase our activities substantially both qualitatively and quantitatively.
