1.1 Friends of Brookvale FC The Club Secretary found it necessary at times to seek help on match days from outside the Club Committee. The people in this group were people well known to the Club Secretary and have the Club at heart. It was an outstanding success and their help will be sought when necessary at the Club Secretary’s discretion.

1.2 Brookvale FC Skills Academy The club has appointed Luca Giuliani (see club contacts – page 4 for details ) to operate the clubs official academy. Luca will run, amongst other sessions, the official school holiday skills training camps and will be introducing a programme on coaching coaches. Luca will attend the Managers and Coaches Meeting to discuss a matter on skill training. It has been brought to the club’s attention that some teams are employing outside coaches to train their teams. Our academy is available for this function. Any team employing outside coaches are required to advise the club secretary of such.

5 Gear and Attire

5.1 Club Playing Shirts/Jerseys Due to the substantial amount of blue playing shirts not returned from last season, and others returned in a poor state, the club will be carrying out a full review on our system of purchasing, ownership and issuing of shirts for 2020. This review will be carried out during the coming 2019 season. Until then the 2019 blue playing shirts will remain the property of club. The shirts will be issued in the following colour coded bags with a permanent team ID tag attached:

• Grey/ Blue – all Mixed teams U6-U16s (Saturday morning teams) • Red – All Senior Men’s teams U18s up (Friday night/ Saturday afternoon teams) • Green – all Women’s teams U8s up (Sunday teams) • Orange – alternate strips (See page 8 – Colour Clash) • White – pre-season trials and coloured numbered bibs for pre-season grading

The shirts must be returned in these colour-coded bags with team ID tags at the end of season. Under no condition are teams allowed to have players’ names printed on the back of shirts. This rule is for all teams from U/6 up and has been introduced by the Committee for player safety purposes. PLEASE ISSUE TO ALL PARENTS AND/OR PLAYERS THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO WASH THE SHIRTS AS RECOMMENDED BY OUR SPORTING GOODS SUPPLIER

5.2 New Training Ball The Club issues teams from U6 to U11 boys and girls with a free training ball at Orientation Day. This ball is to be taken to training. Please ensure names are written on balls. If any player did not receive a ball, parents are to advise the team manager. These balls are given free to the players and are not to be returned to the club at the end of the season.

5.3 Match Balls The Club will issue one match ball to each team fro U/10s up, which is to be used on match day only. Teams from U/6 to U/9 are to use their free training balls as match ball. Both home and away teams should provide a match ball. The Club Secretary has a supply of extra balls if needed.

5.4 Colour Clash In the event of a clash of colour, the away team is to change shirt. The away team is the team mentioned second on the draw. E.g. Brookvale v Dee Why ! Dee Why is the away team. Clubs that will clash with Brookvale are Dee Why, Beacon Hill and Mosman. The Club Secretary will contact the teams who require alternate strips on the Thursday prior to the game. Alternate strips will be placed in an orange bag in the gear shed, clearly labelled with the team’s name. These bags can be collected from Grahams on Saturday morning from 7:00am onwards, unless otherwise arranged by the Club Secretary. Shirts are to be returned (washed!) as a complete set, in the orange bag, no later than 7:00pm the Thursday following your game.

5.5 Club White Shorts The entire club in 2019 will receive NEW white shorts with the Chill Bar and Brookvale logos. If additional shorts are required during the season, they will be on sale from Canteen for $15 each.

5.6 Glasses Under no circumstances can a player wear normal glasses when playing. Contact the Club Secretary for the correct procedure to follow.

5.7 Bibs This season the Club will only issue bibs to the U6 and U7 age groups to use as alternate shirt if required. All other bibs will be available to other teams, if needed, at the Coaches and Managers Meeting.

6 LM Graham Reserve

6.1 Nets Our Club is required to provide nets at LM Graham Reserve, which is our home ground. The Club has appointed a club groundsman who will have the responsibility of setting up the ground ready for matches to be played. The points below are for your information as you may be required to put up nets for 8:30am games at Graham Reserve or at another ground when playing away games. Points to remember:

a. Graham Reserve consists of 5 fields (2 large fields and 3 mini fields). It is our home ground and as such we are required to put up the nets every Saturday prior to the first match, which kicks off at 8:30am, unless otherwise directed.

b. The ground is marked by Northern Beaches Council every Friday. c. Attention all teams: If you are playing a game at 8:30am or 3pm, you are required

to put up or take down nets from Graham Reserve as stated unless you are otherwise instructed (refer to point d below). Our Club Secretary will inform teams playing at Graham Reserve at 3pm if the nets are to stay up overnight for Sunday games.

d. MWFA PROCEDURE – For the first game on both main fields on Saturday (usually 8:30am kick off), the Club Groundsman will place in the centre circle one set of nets and corner flags that have to be put up by both teams (i.e., one net a team + flags). The milk crates and pegs left over should be returned to the referees’ room next to the canteen. It is highly likely that Brookvale teams will be involved in these 8:30am games on Saturday. The Club Groundsman will be at Grahams from 7:45am on Saturday with keys. If you are playing Away and you see nets in the centre circle, you must put them up. The reverse is followed if you play at 3pm unless otherwise directed.

e. Every four weeks, 8 Small Sided fields (30m x 20m) will have to be marked out using cones, within the boundary of Grahams 2. More information will be provided this evening. The Club Groundsman will require additional help on these days.

6.2 Mini Fields The mini field now behind Grahams 1 (Kenneth Rd side) will be known as J8/J9 and will be for U8s and U9s only. This field will have portable goal posts. Brookvale teams playing either at 8.30am or 11.45 am will be requested, via the Age Group Coordinator, to assist in moving goals on or off the field. The Under 7s mini fields (two fields known as J7) are now located behind Grahams 2 (Balgowlah Rd side). These fields will have portable goals, and as above, team assistance will also be requested. Refer to page 25 of this booklet for the Graham Reserve field layout.

Page 11: 2019 Coaches & Managers Handbook - brookvalefc.combrookvalefc.com/.../BVL-Coaches-and-Managers...2.pdf · 4 Compulsory Online Registration for all Managers and Coaches Managers and

2019 Coaches and Manager Handbook Page 11

6.3 Gear for Training Due to the increase in requests for training equipment at Graham Reserve, the Club has decided to make equipment available. The gear/equipment will be placed in the storage area (with roller door) next to the canteen, on the side closest to the swimming pool. If you borrow the equipment, please make sure you return it to the storage area and pull down the roller door. Please keep it neat and tidy. Gear provided includes poles, portable nets, cones etc. Portable nets must be returned to the shed in the same condition that they were picked up. They must be returned in a flat position and placed against the wall. The trend of returning portable nets in an upright position must cease. Your assistance on this matter would be appreciated.

6.4 Lights Password and Night Training at LM Graham Reserve Northern Beaches Council charges the clubs a nightly rental fee to use the lights and have decided on the following roster for the use of Graham Reserve: Mondays - Brookvale shares with St Augustine Tuesdays – Brookvale only Wednesdays – St Augustine only - Brookvale can use mini fields J8/J9A from 3.30 - 5.30 pm Thursday – Brookvale only Friday – Brookvale shares with St Augustine – afternoon only (Grahams is used for Friday evening games) With 73 teams, the Club Secretary will discuss the roster and use of training grounds at the meeting.

Page 12: 2019 Coaches & Managers Handbook - brookvalefc.combrookvalefc.com/.../BVL-Coaches-and-Managers...2.pdf · 4 Compulsory Online Registration for all Managers and Coaches Managers and

2019 Coaches and Manager Handbook Page 12

Using Lights The lights are no longer run by a key system. It is now done by mobile phone where our Club Assistant Secretary (Tony Cavalieri) follows a set procedure for lights to come on. All teams will be requested to advise Tony and the Club Secretary as to what nights they are training and what time they start and finish. A roster will be set up. Tony’s contact details are provided on page 4. See below for training at Nolan Reserve.

6.5 Dogs Without a doubt, Graham Reserve is the best natural grass park within the MWFA. With this in mind, there is to be NO dogs within the picket fence, at any time.

6.6 Medical Kit and Ice Packs ATTENTION: A medical kit and ice packs will be available at the canteen at LM Graham Reserve if needed.

6.7 Portable Defibrillator There will be a portable defibrillator on Saturday and Sunday at all times between Field One and Field Two from 8:30am to 5pm. Sudden cardiac arrest is one of Australia’s biggest killers and affects people of ALL ages. Without a defibrillator and effective CPR there is less than 5% chance of survival! Please come to the canteen at any time if you would like to be shown how to use it.

7 Nolan Reserve Brookvale FC has been allocated Nolan 7 for training every day of the week, starting at 7:00pm. Please note we are still working with council to get permission to use Nolan 7 for afternoon sessions, but either way we will be sharing the grounds with Harbord Seasiders United, so be mindful of other clubs & teams when using the space in and around Nolan Reserve (refer page 26 for location of Nolan 7). Please advise the Club Secretary ASAP if you want to train on NOLAN 7, as lights may be required to be turned on by the club.

8 Judiciary System (Send-offs / Yellow Cards) The judiciary system is as below. Please note that all players sent off receive an automatic one-week suspension. Stage 1 If the Referees Report relating to the player that has been dismissed is received from the MWFA by the Tuesday following the offence, the Club Secretary will be forwarded the relevant documents advising that the matter will be heard by the Judiciary Committee, without the player who was sent off being present, on the Wednesday following the send-off. Stage 2 The Club Secretary is informed of the Judiciary Committee decision, who in turn advises the team manager of the suspension incurred. The Club Secretary will discuss the strict new procedure to appeal suspensions issued at the Coaches & Managers meeting. Stage 3 Any matter which is described on the documents as “Refer to the Judiciary” is regarded as serious and is dealt with by the judiciary in the presence of the player.

8.1 Yellow Cards If a player accumulates 4 yellow cards, he/she will automatically be suspended for one game. However, the player may continue to play until the Association advises the Club Secretary, or Assistant Secretary of the suspension and then advises the Team Management accordingly. All competition games from U12 and above are now subject to the Y2/Sin Bin Rule, meaning 10 minutes in the Sin Bin for any dissent by word or action. The Player must leave the field immediately, cannot be replaced, must remain in the technical area and will be allowed back on the field after 10 minutes with the referee’s permission. The 10 minutes start when play resumes after the player has left the field (see below and also Appendix C6 of the MWFA Playing Rules (page 47).

MWFA Sin Bin – Procedure 2019 A temporary dismissal incurs a caution (YC) for the offence of ‘dissent’ by word or action, applicable to on-field players (including goalkeepers) only. The referee shows the offending player a yellow card (YC) for dissent (by word or action) towards any Match Official and points with both arms to the technical area.

• For games of 60 minutes or less, the temporary dismissal period is 5 minutes (U12-U14)

• For games longer than 60 minutes, the temporary dismissal period is 10 minutes (U15 up)

Page 14: 2019 Coaches & Managers Handbook - brookvalefc.combrookvalefc.com/.../BVL-Coaches-and-Managers...2.pdf · 4 Compulsory Online Registration for all Managers and Coaches Managers and

2019 Coaches and Manager Handbook Page 14

After the player has left the field of play, the temporary dismissal period begins from when play is restarted. The referee will manage the timing of the dismissal period by recording the commencement time of the temporary dismissal and take note of the expected completion time. This responsibility may be delegated to one of The Other Match Officials. Once the temporary dismissal period has been completed, the same player may return from the halfway line, only after receiving the referee’s permission, which may be given whilst the ball is in play. The Referee must wait for an appropriate time to call the player back on (similar to an injured player returning to the field). This may result in the dismissal period being slightly extended. A temporarily dismissed player cannot be substituted/ interchanged until the end of the temporary dismissal period, provided play has been stopped and the team has not used all its permitted substitutes. Where a player has already received a caution (YC) for any offence in a match and then commits dissent, the temporary dismissal (sin bin) cannot be used, as this player will be sent-off (RC) for receiving a second caution in the same match and may not be replaced or substituted/interchanged. A player serving a temporary dismissal may be cautioned a second time whilst on the sideline for dissent, thus sent off (RC) for a second yellow. A temporarily dismissed player will be subject to a second yellow if entering the field without the referee’s permission, equating to a send-off (RC). If a temporary dismissal period has not been completed at the end of the first half (or second half when extra time is to be played) the remaining part of the temporary dismissal period is served from the start of the second half (or start of extra time). The player is permitted to take part in Kicks from the Penalty Mark (penalty shoot-out). Stoppage time added to the end of a half, counts towards the temporary dismissal period, applicable only to 90-minute games. If play is stopped without a foul committed to caution (YC) and temporarily dismiss a player, play is restarted by an indirect free kick to the opposing team from the place the ball was positioned when play was stopped. If the ball is out of play, play is restarted according to the previous decision (i.e. throw in, corner kick etc.…). Additional clarification A temporarily dismissed player is permitted to ‘warm-up’ under the same conditions as a substitute (i.e. must be wearing a bib etc.…). It is possible to have more than one player from the same team in the sin bin. Thus, if a team is reduced to fewer than seven players at any given time, the game must be abandoned. A team official or substitute guilty of dissent will receive a caution (YC), though they do not serve the time ban. If the ball was in play, an indirect free kick is awarded to the opposing team.

8.2 Code of Conduct Please refer to the FFA Code of Conduct on our website. This applies to the conduct and behaviour of ALL members, coaches, managers players, as well as spectators. Brookvale FC does not tolerate:

• discriminatory behaviour; • harassment, including sexual harassment; • offensive behaviour; • provocation of hatred or violence; • spectator or crowd violence; • intimidation of Match Officials; • abuse of position to obtain personal benefit.

For Coaches & Manager:

• Remember that children participate for pleasure and that winning is only part of the fun. Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing.

• Be reasonable in your demands on young players' time, energy and enthusiasm. • Teach your players to always follow the rules, which are unbreakable. • Whenever possible, group players so that everyone has a reasonable chance of

success. • Avoid overplaying the talented players. ALL players need and deserve equal time. • Ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the

age and ability of the players. • Develop team respect for the ability of opponents and for the judgment of officials

and opposing coaches. • Follow the advice of a physician when determining when an injured player is ready to

recommence training or competition. • Keep up to date with the latest coaching practices and the principles of growth and

development of children.

9 Team Discipline The MWFA has advised of a points system for team discipline matters. John Mesite will offer a detailed explanation on how the system will operate.

10 New Registrations At this stage, applications to register for the 2019 season may be lodged with our club registrars until late June 2019. The club registrars, Chris Stokes & Sam Mesite, will speak on this subject this evening.

2019 Coaches and Manager Handbook Page 16

All matters relating to registration issues are to be directed to the Registrars using the email address provided (see Club Contacts) Under no circumstance will the Club Secretary be involved with any registration matter. Correctly completed new registration applications or changes to existing registrations must be in the hands of our Registrars and MUST include ALL documents as required on or before 6pm on the Monday prior to the weekend game. The Registrars’ details are on the Club Contacts section of this document on page 4. It is suggested you email them if you wish to lodge a new registration or make changes to an existing registration.

11 Payment of Fees Please note that the Executive Committee of Brookvale Football Club has requested that the Registrars advise the Committee and Treasurer of any outstanding fees. Each case will be reviewed individually, this includes financial hardship cases.

12 Draw The club will not issue the full weekly draw in the draw section of our website: it will only appear on the noticeboard near the canteen at Grahams every weekend, The draw section of our website will list field locations so please visit it for directives on where you are playing. The latest draw information can always be found on the MWFA website: http://www.mwfa.com.au/draws_results_ladders/. For competition age groups, the MWFA page is also where you can find results and ladders. You can narrow down your search for the draw using one or more of these filters. All Club members (coaches and managers as well as players and parents) are strongly encouraged to get into the habit of checking the above MWFA website on a weekly basis for the details of your upcoming game as games can change during the season.

12.1 SMS Alert Service – iCompman All managers are encouraged to subscribe to the iCompman SMS alert service in order to receive updated information. The automated iCompman service will send you an SMS with the details of your game every week, and as soon as the MWFA makes a change that affects your team (e.g. wet weather). To set up the alerts, go to the MWFA draw, and click on the 'My favourites and SMS alerts' tab, and then follow the procedure. Please note that the alerts cannot be set up until after the draw is issued, and that there is a small fee payable to subscribe. The Club will also alert you to changes via email and SMS (see below), but you will find that the SMS alerts from iCompman are likely to be faster.

12.2 SMS Notifications of Draw Changes from the MWFA The MWFA uses an SMS system to advise teams of any late changes to the draw (these changes could be as late as the morning of the game). The Club Competition Secretary will advise age group coordinators and team managers of any changes to their respective draw from Monday to late Friday night only. However, on Saturday and Sunday morning, if there are any changes the MWFA via the SMS will advise the relevant age group coordinator of any change. The age group coordinator then advises the team manager. Details of all age group coordinators will be sent to the MWFA to update their records. The Competition Secretary will attend the Coaches and Managers meeting to answer any questions. The Club Secretary will discuss at the meeting the view of the MWFA regarding iCompman systems in advising late draw changes.

12.3 Playing over the School Holidays There was much confusion over our Junior (U6 - U11), Youth (U12 - U18) and Women’s teams with regards to playing over the school holidays. Below is how it works, using the State Schools holiday dates:

• There WILL be games during the first weekend of the school holidays (13/14 April 2019)

• There will be NO games in the middle weekend of the holidays (20/21 April 2019) • There WILL be games in the final weekend of the school holidays (26/27 April 2019)

Senior Men will play every weekend during the holidays If in doubt, check the draw!

12.4 Forfeit Procedures In the unlikely event your team needs to forfeit during the season, the process is as follows:

U6-U11s: You don’t need to forfeit because of a lack of numbers. You can just play and turn the game into practice or a friendly with the opposition as these age groups are non-competitive. If you are that short on numbers that you decide it isn’t worth playing, then please follow the forfeit procedure below U12s up: Once you have forfeited and the round is washed out, your forfeit will stand and the game will not be rescheduled. So best to leave forfeiting until the latest possible opportunity – by 4pm of the day before your scheduled game (remember if you are short around the school holiday period – there is all likelihood your opposition is in the same situation).

If you forfeit please email your Age Coordinator the following details (during business hours) or SMS them (outside business hours):

Club – Brookvale Football Club Opposition Age/Div Date Time Field

Details will be passed on to the Club Secretary and he in turn will pass it onto the MWFA. This will ensure that the referees association & the club that is responsible for the field are advised. Notifying the other team directly that your team is forfeiting is not acceptable and the team will be fined as outlined below, plus referee fees will apply. MWFA Constitution - B11 – FORFEIT The secretary of a club which intends to forfeit an allotted fixture shall advise the Association by 4pm on the day before the scheduled game. If the Association has not been notified the Club shall be levied fines for each game forfeited. If you arrive for a game and opposition forfeit at the scheduled ground, please get the referee to endorse the team sheet. Any team forfeiting will automatically allow its opponents:

• In league matches to gain three (3) competition points and a five (5) goals nil (0) win.

• In knockout matches to progress to the next round • In finals to be declared the winner.

13 Wet Weather The golden rule is to check the Draw page of the MWFA website and wait to hear from the Club during wet weather. The MWFA website is updated immediately when games are cancelled or relocated. If in doubt – assume matches are on. To improve communication between the Club and teams, please refer to page 32 of this booklet for the Wet Weather Contact System. If time permits, you can visit the club website and/ or Facebook page (Brookvale FC Noticeboard) as late as the morning of the match for an update of whether your match is called off. The Club Secretary will discuss this system tonight in detail. See Section 12.2 regarding the procedure to follow this season. Washed out MiniRoo & Junior matches (U6-U11 only) are NOT played at a later stage. With regards to the possibility of training being called off due to bad weather, we recommend you check the wet weather line or the websites in the following section. You must not train if the ground is closed. Partial Closure – Means Open for Light Impact Sports ONLY – Soccer/ Football is NOT considered Light Impact.

13.1 Wet Weather Lines and Websites

Northern Beaches Website (see below) Mosman 9978 4136

The Northern Beaches Council website is used for checking the status of Sports Fields: https://www.northernbeaches.nsw.gov.au/things-to-do/sports-and-recreation/sportsfields-status During bad weather this page is updated at 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday and if possible, by 7am on weekends. If council decides to close any or all fields on Friday afternoon, the council will advise the MWFA, who in turn advise all affected clubs. If fields are declared open on Friday and there is heavy rain late Friday or Saturday, then the clubs are responsible for inspecting their grounds in the early morning of game day to see if they are suitable for use. If the grounds are not suitable for use, the clubs advise the MWFA who in turn advise affected clubs about their games being cancelled or moved (this system applies to both Saturday mixed and Sunday women football). The wet weather system will be discussed at length at the Coaches & Managers meeting.

13.2 Brookvale Football Club Noticeboard Facebook Group Any late notice ground closures made after council has closed for the weekend will also be posted to our Brookvale Football Club Noticeboard Facebook Group. Every Club Member is encouraged to join the group.

14 MWFA Competition – NEW Electronic Match Sheets (EMS) Match Sheets are required from U12s up, to enable MWFA to collect results for the competition tables. In 2018, a new Electronic Match Sheets (EMS) system was implemented across the MWFA. Refer to below for instructions on EMS. More detailed instructions can be found on the Brookvale FC website and will also be forwarded to all team Managers once log-ins have been created. EMS can be access on smart phones, tablets and PCs. Some notes:

• You will receive 1 login per team. If the Manager is unable to attend the game, make sure the coach has the login details.

• Both teams as well as the Referee are required to enter details. If it is a Junior Referee who does not have a phone, the HOME TEAM are to lend their phone for the Referee to log in

• You can prepare the team-sheet 48 hours ahead of time by selecting and adding players and saving it as a draft prior to the game (recommended to save time at the game!)

• Shirt numbers are compulsory from U12s up and need to be entered • You will also receive a PDF of all your registered players at the start of the season.

Please take a printed copy to all games and/ or save a copy on your smartphone/ tablet

• A borrowed player can be added to the team list from a list of approved players only. Players who are suspended, or who didn’t receive their ID, will not appear on this list of players allowed for your team. Likewise, players from a division or age group above your team will not appear.

• To add the iCompman login screen to your iPhone’s home page, open the log-in page in Safari ! click the ‘Add/Save’ icon on the bottom of the screen ! scroll right to find “+add to home screen” button ! name how you want it to appear on your home screen ! click add

When signing after the ID card check (assuming 100% ok), the AWAY team manager must sign in the HOME ID section and vice versa. Please read the competition sheet carefully.

• When signing for final score, the manager must sign on their team’s side of the sheet. • This competition team sheet will ONLY be issued for HOME teams IF the iCompman

system is down. If needed, please contact the Club Competition Secretary urgently.

The completed match card must be hand delivered and placed in the mailbox at 413 Pittwater Rd, North Manly no later than 6pm on the Sunday evening after the game.

Page 24: 2019 Coaches & Managers Handbook - brookvalefc.combrookvalefc.com/.../BVL-Coaches-and-Managers...2.pdf · 4 Compulsory Online Registration for all Managers and Coaches Managers and

15 Player ID Card Check With the introduction of the Electronic Match Sheet System, the Player ID CARDS as used in previous years will no longer be issued. Instead, the players’ photos will appear on a PDF file that will be issued to Managers prior to the start of the season, and will also be loaded into new system. The compulsory pre-game check will continue as before, but will now be part of the EMS procedures. Coaches and Managers will be issued with their usual ID cards (see Section 16). GOLDEN RULE remains: no Player Photo or Coaches/ Managers ID card = NO MATCH

16 Coach/ Manager Identification Tags All coaches and managers from U6 upwards (i.e., all teams) must wear an official MWFA ID tag. All team officials will be issued with a photo ID card, which MUST be worn by all team officials standing in the “interchange area” located on either side of the halfway line. The rule is no ID card - no coaching. The MWFA will not issue the team management photo ID cards unless each official is registered online. If there is a new team official this year, that official must supply a photo as part of their registration, if it has not already been done. Therefore the Golden Rule is: No Photo, No Paperwork, No ID Card, No Coaching! The registrars will provide up to date details of who still needs to supply any outstanding paperwork and/or photo. The ID card must be worn around your neck, nowhere else. The club will issue special azzurri blue lanyards to hold your ID cards

17 Results With the introduction of the new Electronic Match System, the recordings will be split into 2 sections: SECTION 1: U8 – U11 As per last season, immediately after all games and no later than 6pm on the day of the game, managers must SMS results to Tony Cavalieri (Results Officer) on 0414 998 293. Please report the result by recording the Brookvale score first. For example: Brookvale U11 Stingrays 5 - Dee Why Warriors 0

Page 25: 2019 Coaches & Managers Handbook - brookvalefc.combrookvalefc.com/.../BVL-Coaches-and-Managers...2.pdf · 4 Compulsory Online Registration for all Managers and Coaches Managers and

2019 Coaches and Manager Handbook Page 25

All results - win, lose or draw - and cancelled games must be sent. NB: due to lop-sided results in the U10 and U11 competitions, the 2019 draw for these age groups will be done MONTHLY – 4 games at a time. The MWFA will look at results and act accordingly to ensure an even competition. With regards to the U6-U9, the results will be reviewed and Clubs will be allowed to request moving of teams (up or down) if they think it necessary in these age groups. SECTION 2 : U12s - O45s The results of the games must be entered into the EMS immediately after the game. The Opposition and the Referee do the same, and any discrepancies will be investigated Tony Cavalieri will discuss EMS and Results at length this evening.

18 Referees Under no circumstances are parents allowed near a referee during or following a game. Any reports forwarded to the MWFA by referees of misbehaviour by either team management or supporters will be dealt with harshly by the Club and the MWFA. Our Club has adopted a “No Tolerance” policy of such behaviour. The coach and/or manager when signing the referee’s card may make queries. If no official referee attends the game, the game must proceed. Both teams must decide who will control the match. If there is no agreement by both teams as to who will referee the game, the referee is to be supplied by the home team. The same person is to referee the whole game. Each side is to have a whistle.

19 Interchange Unlimited player interchange is permissible at any time during the match in the following age groups:

• Premier League Reserve Grade and Amateur League Division One First and Reserve grade men’s competition

• All ladies age groups • All over 35 and over 45 divisions • Division 2 down to Division 10 men • All age groups from U12-U18 (mixed and women)

The only competitions that do not allow unlimited interchange are Men’s Premier League First Grade.

Page 26: 2019 Coaches & Managers Handbook - brookvalefc.combrookvalefc.com/.../BVL-Coaches-and-Managers...2.pdf · 4 Compulsory Online Registration for all Managers and Coaches Managers and

20 25 Metre Rule Please find below the 25-metre rule to be applied to age groups U12-U14, which will be discussed at length at the Coaches and Managers Meeting: The Clearance Zone is a rectangular area bounded by the touchlines, the goal line and an imaginary line parallel to the goal line, at distance determined by the age group. This line must be indicated by a cone, pole or other marking to assist the referee. For nominated age groups the distance from the goal line is 25 metres.

1. Opposition players will be required to retreat outside the Clearance Zone for both Goal Kicks and Free Kicks to the Defending Team in the Penalty Area.

2. Goal Kicks must be taken by the Goalkeeper. 3. An Opposition Player cannot enter the Clearance Zone until a player from the team

taking the kick has touched the ball once the whole of the ball has vacated the Penalty Area.

4. The ball cannot be kicked directly beyond the Clearance Zone. If this occurs, the kick is to be retaken.

5. If an Opposition Player enters the Clearance Zone prior to a player from the team taking the kick having first touched the ball, then the kick will be retaken.

6. If in the opinion of the Referee, the Clearance Zone rule is being utilised to waste time by either the attacking or defending Team, the Players guilty of the perceived time wasting will be cautioned.

The rule will apply to U12 thru U14 age groups in 2019. Note the following changes/ differences from previous years:

1. A 25m distance is used for all age groups, with the rationale being they need the same amount of space from the goal line to be able to play out.

2. The rule applies to both goal kicks and free kicks for the defending team given in the penalty area.

3. The ball cannot be directly kicked out of the clearance (25m) zone; it must be played to a teammate in the clearance zone (but out of the penalty area).

Note per the normal FIFA rule Law 13 Free Kicks inside the penalty area to the Defending team and Law 16 Goal Kicks the ball is in play when it is directly kicked out of the penalty area.

21 Medals and Trophies The policy of the Club is that all players from U6 to U16 will receive a specially struck Brookvale FC medal in recognition of playing for the Club. Furthermore, the Club provides the following additional trophies for U12 teams and higher only:

• Player of the Year – voted by team management • Player’s Player – voted by team members

If teams win competitions or finals, the winning team will also receive an additional trophy All medals and trophies will be presented at the end-of-season presentation days or nights.

22 Sponsorship The Club is always on the lookout for new sponsors. A new series of sponsorship packages are now available. No matter how small any sponsorship must be approved by the sponsorship committee via the Club’s Sponsorship Coordinator (see Contact list).

23 Website Joe Mesite & Set Buijs are our volunteer webmasters and will make all efforts to ensure relevant information is made available when you need it on our website www.brookvalefc.com. Please feel free to send them any articles you wish to be placed on the site, or if you have suggestions for improvement (refer to the Club Contacts section for email and phone details). Our Facebook page (Brookvale Football Club Noticeboard) will also have up-to-date info. Feel free to post articles, comments, game photos and game reports.

24 Canteen Duty As you may be aware Brookvale FC now run the canteen at LM Graham Reserve. We would like to get even better in 2019 and without help from all of our teams, it will not happen. We have a hard-working sub-committee who are trying to constantly improve the canteen system. Your support would be very much appreciated. Each team will be rostered on mainly for BBQ duty. There will be no coffee making duties involved. The Club Secretary will organise a roster for teams to assist in the canteen on Saturdays only (subject to change). The roster will be issued at least 3 weeks in advance to assist teams to get organised.

Page 28: 2019 Coaches & Managers Handbook - brookvalefc.combrookvalefc.com/.../BVL-Coaches-and-Managers...2.pdf · 4 Compulsory Online Registration for all Managers and Coaches Managers and

• Teams that play in the morning will be rostered in the afternoon. • Teams that play in the afternoon will be rostered in the morning. • There will be 2 people per shift. • Each shift will be 2 hours (or thereabouts).

AM Shifts PM Shifts

7.30am – 10.00am 12:30pm - 2:30pm

10.00am -12.30pm 2:30 - 4:30pm (and close) The roster will be made available on the website. If you have any suggestions on the roster, please contact the Club Secretary via email on [email protected]. Please note Women’s Sunday teams will not be included in the Canteen roster but they may be called upon in an emergency. The Canteen Manager, Club Secretary and Women’s Coordinator will consider opening the canteen on Sundays if, upon inspection of the draw, there are ample games from 8:30am to 3:00pm. This will be decided well in advance and will have to be run by the Women’s teams. The Canteen Manager will discuss all matters relating to the canteen at the Caches & Managers meeting.

25 Compulsory Personal Insurance All registered players are covered by the compulsory personal insurance provided as part of the registration. This insurance is vital, particularly for the senior players where serious injuries occur more frequently. Please note that Football NSW has changed insurance companies, so the procedure is now as follows:

• Go to Brookvale FC website (www.brookvalefc.com) • Locate Club Info tab on homepage • Locate Insurance and follow link • Insurance website will appear, follow directives and read all information • All claims must be done online

Alternative, go directly to the insurance website which is www.gowgatessport.com.au/football/nsw/ For senior players, it is highly recommended that additional personal insurance is acquired on top of the compulsory insurance stated above.

26 End of Season Semi-Final or Round Robin Series (U/12 up) After a substantial amount of enquiries towards the end of last season on this subject, the Club Secretary will attempt to explain the system the MWFA uses to decide Semis or Round Robins and will answer any questions. Divisions consisting of 8 teams will play 14 rounds, after which the top team is declared Champion. The top 4 teams then continue in a Round Robin (3 rounds), with the top 2 teams from that Round Robin proceeding to play in the finals. Divisions consisting of 10 teams or more will play 18 rounds, after which the top 4 teams proceed to the semi finals. The winner from these semis will face each other in the finals.
