The cost includes part board i.e. Breakfast and evening meal. Location: South City Centre, Dublin 2. 2 minute walk from Horner School. Less than 10 minute walk from Dublin City centre.

Additional Costs: HSE Administration Fee: € 60 A charge of €60 for arrival later than 22.00 hrs

General Information: Host family accommodation provides the best opportunity to speak English and to experience the Irish way of life. Our excellent host families have all been inspected by a member of the Horner family. We only work with host families that provide comfortable accommodation in a warm and friendly atmosphere. To ensure that our information about each family is correct we re-visit families and ask them to complete a new application form at least once per year. Every student is asked to complete a written questionnaire at the end of their first week and at the end of their stay. This constant evaluation helps us to monitor each family’s progress on a continuous basis.

Host family details are e-mailed to the agency at least four weeks prior to the arrival date. The family details include the name, address and telephone number, together with the first names of the parents, their professions, the number of children and their ages. We also advise the approximate bus or train journey each client may expect when travelling to and from school.

Location: All host families live outside the city centre in the suburbs of Dublin. This means that all clients who select host family accommodation will travel to and from school by bus or train. The average journey will take 40 minutes.

Rooms: Single or Twin room on a half board basis. A fresh set of towels and change of bed linen once per week.

Bathroom: Most families provide a bathroom sharing. A private bathroom is subject to availability & supplementary charge.

Laundry: The family will include the student’s basic laundry items, such as, jeans, tee-shirts and underwear once per week. Students cannot expect the host family to wash delicate items of clothing or heavy woollen jumpers.

Meals: Accommodation is arranged on a part board basis i.e. breakfast and evening meal, with all meals provided at the weekends. Special vegetarian meals and other dietary requirements can be catered for, subject to availability, provided enough notice is given. In some cases for example lactose or gluton intollerance, clients may have to provide food substitutes for example Gluton free bread, pasta , lactose free milk etc at own expense.

Important: Living with a host family is not like staying in a hotel. We advise students to help clear away table after meals, keep bedroom tidy and bathroom clean for next person. If returning home late for dinner, remember to let host family know. Host mother can put food aside to be reheated in the microwave. Students returning home late should remember that family and children may already be asleep and not to disturb. Students may make reverse charge telephone calls with the assistance and permission of the host family. Any damage caused by the student to the family home or property must be paid for by the client

First Day of Course Standard Course clients: STD, STD+FLUENCY, STD+BUS, STD+TOEFL/IELTS, CPC, SIC/22, SIC/25, SIC/30. All clients should come to the Horner School of English for 9.00am on their first day ( usually Monday) for their Grading test and Orientation session. All lessons are 50 minutes in duration.

Grading Test: This is a straightforward multiple choice written test, listening test and short interview. This test is essential to determine each client’s exact level of English, to ensure he/she is placed in the class group most suited to his/her level .

Orientation Session: Immediately following the grading test, all new clients will be introduced to staff members in a relaxed and informal setting.. Clients will then receive an Information Pack containing full details on their chosen course, daily timetables etc. They will also receive maps, bus timetables and a special A-Z register of useful information on the cost of living i.e. food, drinks, postage etc.

Intensive Crs Clients: O2O/20, O2O/25, O2O/30 &O2O/40 All intensive course clients should report to the Horner School of English for 08.30 hours on their first day. Grading will take place immediately and clients will be placed in their class on completing of said test. Introductions to the directors and staff of the HSE will be made during the morning coffee break.

Mini-Stay Closed Groups / School Groups

General Information: We welcome Mini-Stay Groups throughout the year. Closed group classes are held in our main school buildings, Dublin City Centre. The Horner School of English can arrange a full package of services, typical example below:

An Accommodation Administration Fee of €60.00 applies to apartments, university / school residence, hotel / guest house ( we do not charge the Accommodation Administration Fee if you select host family, for example). Tuition Fees Cancellation Policy

Written notice must be sent to [email protected] and applies from the date the cancellation is received by Horner School of English. Application for a refund will be dealt within a timely manner, normally within 20 working days of receipt of the request. Enquiries should be addressed to Janice Horner.

Students applying for a Study Visa, must refer to the student refund policy as listed below: Visa Application & Visa Refusal

Course changes requested within 7 days of the commencement date are subject to availability.

No refund of fees is available where a course change is taken to a less intensive course, that is for example, a request to change from STD+ to STD Course.

Students requesting a change from group courses to private individual tuition will be required to pay the full cost of the private lessons. No transfer of course value is available.

Course value cannot be transferred from one student to another student. Examination fees are not included in tuition. Exam fees must be paid in advance and are non-refundable in the event of a cancellation.

Accommodation Conditions & Cancellation Policy: Accommodation fees are non-refundable except in the case of host family where at least 4 weeks’ written notice is required to cancel some or all of the pre booked accommodation. In the case of host family accommodation a four week notice period is

non-refundable. The balance of any accommodation fees will be refunded.

In the case of apartment or university residence or school residence no refund is possible.

In the case of Hotel, Guest-house or B&B accommodation, refunds will be at the discretion of the Directors of the school and may not always be possible.

It is not possible to provide Host Family Accommodation over the Christmas and New Year holiday (2-week holiday period).

We guarantee there will be no more than one nationality per host family (unless otherwise agreed with student).

We do not control nationality mix at apartments, residences and other student self-catering accommodations.

Accommodation Extension Requests: If you would like to extend your accommodation dates (i.e. to stay longer than originally booked), it is first necessary to speak with the accommodation office to check for availability. Accommodation extensions cannot always be guaranteed and therefore we recommend that you speak with the accommodation manager as early as possible. This point is especially important where students wish to extend accommodation bookings during the Summer Season or remain with the host family for an extended period. Please note, it is not possible to provide Host Family Accommodation over the Christmas and New Year holiday (2-week period).

Visa Applications &Visa Refusals (Work & Study): Students from outside the European Economic Area, may be required to obtain a visa to enter Ireland. At least 6 weeks are needed to process visa applications. Cancellations are not permitted after the visa supporting documentation has been issued by the school. Students who fail to obtain their visas will be refunded all fees paid, less a school processing fee of €200 euro. Written proof of the visa refusal must be supplied to the School by email to [email protected]. Fees will be returned within 20 working days of the visa refusal being received and verified by Horner School. Students from outside the EEA Area attending Long Stay Courses (staying in Ireland longer than 90 days) must comply with additional regulations. Written notice must be sent to [email protected] and applies from the date the cancellation is received by Horner School of English. Application for a refund will be dealt within a timely manner, normally within 20 working days of receipt of the request. Enquiries should be addressed to Janice Horner.

Students applying for a Study Visa, must refer to the student refund policy as listed below: Visa Application & Visa Refusal

Course changes requested within 7 days of the commencement date are subject to availability.

No refund of fees is available where a course change is taken to a less intensive course, that is for example, a request to change from STD+ to STD Course.

Students requesting a change from group courses to private individual tuition will be required to pay the full cost of the private lessons. No transfer of course value is available.

Course value cannot be transferred from one student to another student. Examination fees are not included in tuition. Exam fees must be paid in advance and are non-refundable in the event of a cancellation.

Accommodation Conditions & Cancellation Policy:Accommodation fees are non-refundable except in the case of host family where at least 4 weeks’ written notice is required to cancel some or all of the pre booked accommodation. In the case of host family accommodation a four week notice period is non-refundable. The balance of any accommodation fees will be refunded.

In the case of apartment or university residence or school residence no refund is possible.

In the case of Hotel, Guest-house or B&B accommodation, refunds will be at the discretion of the Directors of the school and may not always be possible.

It is not possible to provide Host Family Accommodation over the Christmas and New Year holiday (2-week holiday period). We can offer residents accommodation, subject to availability.

We guarantee there will be no more than one nationality per host family (unless otherwise agreed with student).

We do not control nationality mix at apartments, residences and other student self-catering accommodations.

Accommodation Extension Requests:If you would like to extend your accommodation dates (i.e. to stay longer than originally booked), it is first necessary to speak with the accommodation office to check for availability.Accommodation extensions cannot always be guaranteed and therefore we recommend that you speak with the accommodation manager as early as possible. This point is especially important where students wish to extend accommodation bookings during the Summer Season or remain with the host family for an extended period. Please note, it is not possible to provide Host Family Accommodation over the Christmas and New Year holiday (2-week period). We can offer residents accommodation, subject to availability.

Visa Applications &Visa Refusals (Work & Study):Students from outside the European Economic Area, may be required to obtain a visa to enter Ireland. At least 6 weeks are needed to process visa applications. Cancellations are not permitted after the visa supporting documentation has been issued by the school. Students who fail to obtain their visas will be refunded all fees paid, less a school processing fee of €200. Written proof of the visa refusal must be supplied to the School by email to:[email protected].

Fees will be returned within 20 working days of the visa refusal being received and verified by Horner School. Students from outside the EEA Area attending Long Stay Courses (staying in Ireland longer than 90 days) must comply with additional regulations.
