Q I 2019-2020 FINDLAY HIGH SCHOOL PHONE~ 419.425.8289 A Message from the Principal We are spending the summer gearing up for a fantastic 2019-2020 school year. Our teachers plan to participate in a variety of professional development opportunities to improve teaching strategies and incorporate technology in the classroom. We are also looking forward to our training and journey through the implementation of the Leader in Me at FHS. Our staff will have extensive training in August to better understand the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and we look forward to fully integrating this within our building culture. Students have already jump-started this through many leadership opportunities, and we are excited to see this continue to grow and evolve. For the 2019-2020 school year, each of our students will receive a Chromebook that they will be able to utilize for their career at FHS. This will provide them with access to many tools for collaboration and engagement to improve their learning experience. 9th grade students will receive their Chromebook during the first few days of school. Grades 10-12 will receive their Chromebook during orientation times on August 22. We are also excited to welcome a few new staff members to our team. Ms. Laura Dyer will now be serving as the S-Z team counselor. Mr. Mehok will now be working with the L-R team, as Mr. Hackenburg will be serving students as a new Glenwood counselor. Mr. Jon Hayfield will be joining our social studies department. Ms. Tanya Schubert will be joining the foreign language department to now offer Japanese at FHS. Adam Shoop will be joining our intervention specialist team. We may have a few other additions to the FHS team prior to the start of the school year. This school year we plan to utilize Final Forms as another way to keep you connected to FHS. Please ensure you have updated the current email addresses in this system to ensure you are receiving announcements and important updates. Lastly, we will be changing our Thursday schedule this school year. We will be moving from a late start to an early release. Students will be released at 2:30 on Thursdays. Please see page 4 for the updated schedule. This time provides our teachers with an opportunity to collaborate on a weekly basis to better meet the needs of our students and improve instruction. Again, we are excited about what is to come at FHS for the 2019-2020 school year and look forward to a fantastic year.
