2018–2019 BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Reflecting on TEMPO Milwaukee’s 2018-19 fiscal year, the word to best describe it is IMPACT. In alignment with our mission of furthering the impact of women leaders in our community, this year has been instrumental in raising greater awareness of TEMPO Milwaukee as the premier women’s organization in Milwaukee with a membership of 370+ of the community’s strongest female leaders. The timeline on pages six and seven provides just a glimpse into the many programs, initiatives and events that contributed to our overall impact in 2018-19. The splash that TEMPO Milwaukee made this year was achieved through strategic partnerships and collaborations to create a unified voice in the movements that affect our members most directly, and by exposing members to influential national and local leaders and inspirational mentors. Impact is seen in the high-caliber programming that ignites professional and personal development, and by the growing number of members, Emerging Women Leaders and community partners who, year-after-year, are so vital to our organization’s success. We are so grateful for your support of TEMPO Milwaukee.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Dirks Tami Garrison President & CEO Community Affairs, MillerCoors TEMPO Milwaukee TEMPO Milwaukee Board Chair

2020 STRATEGIC PLAN2018–2019 HIGHLIGHTS

Developed in 2016, the TEMPO Milwaukee 2020 Strategic Plan is an encapsulation of four strategic priorities for the organization through the year 2020. In collaboration with the President and CEO, committees are executing the strategic objectives for each priority.

Ensure TEMPO Milwaukee remains relevant and agile while honoring the organization’s 44-year history and guiding principles.

n The second annual TEMPO Milwaukee Foundation Continuing Education Grant totaling $15,000 was awarded to and divided among four local women who will use the funds for professional development.

n The Emerging Women Leaders 1-to-1 Mentoring Program continues to bring greater definition to TEMPO Milwaukee’s focus on mentoring. Since 2017, 123 TEMPO Milwaukee members and 123 Emerging Women Leaders have been matched as mentor/mentee pairs.

n Continue to foster an environment to engage members through high caliber programming, professional development, networking, mentoring and signature events.

PRESERVE OUR CORE, STIMULATE GROWTH

Increase racial diversity and at the same time create an environment of inclusion for our members, Emerging Women Leaders and the TEMPO Milwaukee board.

COMPREHENSIVE D&I PLAN DEVELOPED FOCUSING ON FOUR KEY AREAS: n Research: Focusing on uncovering

what is really known about women of color and their interaction or lack of interaction with TEMPO Milwaukee. Rather than assuming, we will go right to the source and develop a strategy to start a conversation.

n Education & Training: Developing a phased-approach training platform to educate TEMPO members on D&I issues, challenges, navigating tough conversations and identifying opportunities.

n Inclusive Environment Planning: Armed with the baseline data, research and training & education, supporting TEMPO Milwaukee committee chairs in developing 1-2 measurable goals that align with the D&I initiative.

n Collaborative Partnerships: Developing taskforce or sub-committee to reach out to potential D&I partners to further invest and enhance our D&I commitment.

Strengthen TEMPO Milwaukee’s position as a go-to resource on issues related to women in leadership by partnering with area businesses and community organizations.

n The Women’s Leadership Collaborative — comprised of TEMPO Milwaukee, Professional Dimensions and Milwaukee Women inc — announced its mission of achieving equity, and plans to focus on pay equity with a united front.

n TEMPO Milwaukee and regional TEMPO affiliates meet quarterly to discuss best practices, uncover collaboration opportunities and learn about each organization’s value proposition.

n TEMPO Milwaukee partnered with the Greater Milwaukee Committee, Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, Professional Dimensions and Rotary Club of Milwaukee on its #MeToo – One Year Later survey to broaden the survey’s reach and include males’ perspectives.

Increase engagement and identify opportunities that encourage participation of our members and create a greater sense of community and impact.

n Our TEMPO Milwaukee members continue to be actively engaged with our organization. We recently experienced a surge in new members — and current members — joining our committees and taking on new leadership opportunities.

n There are so many ways for our members to get engaged with TEMPO Milwaukee. If you have interest in serving on any of our 11 committees please contact Kelsiee at [email protected] today!

The Mentor Circles program is a key differentiator for TEMPO Milwaukee,

and a highlight of membership for participants. Those who engage in a

Mentor Circle receive monthly peer-to-peer mentoring in a small group

that’s built around confidentiality, trust and equal participation.

“Our circle is comprised of brilliant, amazing women and we each contrib-ute different gifts, talents and perspectives to help each other grow and develop.”

“Working in senior management can be very lonely. My circle significant-ly reduces the isolation I feel at work and helps me move forward with confidence.”

“It is like having a personal board of directors helping you make appropri-ate decisions/risk taking strategies.”

TEMPO DISCOVERY
