PDC with its pharmacy manager, have established an initial 4-workstation pharmacy in the community of Peguis. PDC in their service agreement will provide the location and infrastructure; its supply partners will provide the expertise in the billing and data base system. A provider number will be applied for from Health Canada in ensuring the billings are recognized and paid.
A pharmacy in the community is 100% owned and operated by the community and operated by a qualified pharmacy manager and pharmacy technicians from the community will create trust in the system that serves the membership for their health medication needs. It is vital to create an atmosphere of trust for the elders and for parents for their children. This standard service is an element missing in First Nations.

PEGUIS FAMILY FOODS
The Peguis Development Corporation has begun to explore the possible options available to upgrade and modernize the community grocery store.
The Redevelopment Project will provide community residents with a better shopping experience, and a better selection of food products. This will allow community members to support a local business instead of having to travel outside the community to purchase their groceries and other food products.
Peguis Development Corporation has an existing agreement in place with Macdonalds Consolidated, A Division of Canada Safeway Limited, to operate the Peguis Shop Easy Foods on the Peguis First Nation. Currently, meetings are taking place between Peguis Development Corporation and Macdonalds Consolidated representatives to discuss multiple options that are available to redevelop the grocery store.

The Aboriginal Business Entrepreneurship Skills Training Program for Indigenous women was an excellent opportunity for the women from Fisher River Cree Nation and Peguis First Nation. I feel this training was an overall success! This program was offered weekly, which allowed participants to explore their business ideas and learn the next steps in making their entrepreneurship goals a reality.
The Aboriginal BEST program provided a great facilitator guide and participant manual that broke down the lessons designed to support the facilitator and Indigenous entrepreneurship,
equipping participants with the tools needed to build a business plan, marketing, financing and operations.
Participants had the opportunity to share ideas, discuss issues pertaining to taxes, group break out sessions and exercises to help grasp the material. Furthermore, the facilitator utilized BEST videos, power points and utilized local businesses as examples in discussions and invited local entrepreneurs to be guest speakers, sharing their experiences, hardships and business tips.

CP Builds will be a new start-up homebuilder focused on producing ready-to-assemble (RTA) homes. The company will operate out of a 30,000 square foot facility on the Peguis First Nation in Manitoba. The company will be owned by the Peguis Development Corporation, which is owned by the Peguis First Nation.
CP Builds will require an investment of $6.0 million in order to build the facility, install the necessary improvements and machinery, and purchase the tools needed. This investment will also cover the purchase of vehicles, initial material inventory, and pay for initial marketing and training costs.
RTA homes are able to compete with stick-built and ready-to-move homes on quality and value. The company plans to produce up to 100 RTA home packages a year. Customers will
be able to choose from a variety of floor plans and styles. The company will make the major structural components of a home, such as walls, floors, and roofing rafters, in its facility. The components are then shipped to the customer’s site where they are assembled. Customers will have the option of buying other parts of the home from CP Builds, such as kitchens and bathrooms, as well. The company will also offer to assist customers in the assembly process.
The homes built by CP Builds will be primarily sold to First Nations communities across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and parts of northwestern Ontario. These communities have a well-documented shortage of housing and are often in remote areas under-served by traditional home builders.
