NOTICEOFRACETheOrganisingAuthority (OA) is theNationalandRoyalStGeorgeYachtClubs inconjunctionwithIrishSailingandtheInternationalOptimistDinghyAssociationofIreland(IODAI).TheVolvoIrishSailingYouthPathwayNationalChampionships2018(hereinaftercalledtheRegatta)mayformpartoftheselectiontrialsforthe2018WorldSailingYouthWorlds,IrishSailingNationalSquadsandanindicator,amongstotherevents,fortheIrishSailingAcademy.TheIODAI2018OptimistTrialswillbeheld inconjunctionwiththeChampionships.Pleaserefertowww.iodai.com for the IODAITeamSelectionProcessDocument2018,Trials fleetentry criteria&entry.

1 RULES

1.1 TheRegattawillbegovernedbythe‘rules’asdefinedintheRacingRulesofSailing(RRS).1.2 TheprescriptionsofIrishSailingwillapply.1.3 Boats competing in each Class shall comply with their respective Class Rules. Boats may be

checkedforcompliancewiththeClassRulesatanytimeduringtheRegatta.1.4 AppendixP“SpecialProceduresforRule42”willapply.1.5 RRS Appendix T, Arbitration, will apply. If a party, having been informed that an Arbitration

Meetingwillbeheld,doesnotattend,otherpartiesmaytakeaPost-RacePenaltyatanytimeuntiltheprotestcommitteehascompletedtakingevidence.ThischangesRRSAppendixT1(a).

1.6 RacingrulesRaceSignalAP,28.1,29.2,60.1(a),61.1(b),62.2,63.1,63.2,64.1,A4andA5willbechanged.Thechangesappearinfullinthesailinginstructions.

1.7 RRS70.5appliesandtherightofappealisdenied.1.8 Inallrulesgoverningthisregatta;

(a)(DP)denotesaruleforwhichthepenaltyisatthediscretionoftheprotestcommittee;and(b)(NP)denotesarulethatshallnotbegroundsforprotestsbyaboat.ThischangesRRS60.1(a).

2 ADVERTISING&IDENTIFICATION(NP,DP)

2.1 Theorganizingauthoritymayrequirecompetingboatstocarryeventsponsoradvertisingandcompetitorstowearaneventsponsorbib. Otherconflictingadvertisingshallberemoved(orotherwisecompletelyobliterated)fromhulls,sailsandcompetitors’clothingandequipment.

3 ELIGIBILITYANDENTRY(NP,DP)

3.1 TheRegattaisopentoboatsofthe420,LaserRadial,Laser4.7,TopperandTopper4.2Classes.EntrytotheOptimistTrialsisbyinvitationonly.

3.2 Competitorsinthe420shallbeunder20yrsonthe31stDecember2018.3.3 CompetitorsintheLaserRadialandLaser4.7shallbeunder19yrsonthe31stDecember2018.3.4 CompetitorsintheTopperandTopper4.2shallbeunder16onthe31stDecember2018.3.5 CompetitorsintheOptimistTrialsshallbemembersofIrishSailingandIODAI.3.6 Boats shall have their full Class allocated sail number displayed in accordancewith the Class

7.2 Boatsmaybeweighedandequipmentserialnumberschecked.8 BOATPARKING&LAUNCHING/RECOVERY(DP)

8.1 Boat parking and launching/recovery plans will be posted on the Official Notice Boards andparking spaceswill beallocatedatRegistration. Boats shall onlybeparked in their allocatedspaceandshallonlyusetheirClass’sallocatedslipway.

8.2 AllcompetitorsarerequiredtohavealaunchingtrolleysuitablefortheirparticularClassofboatthatisfullyserviceable.Trolleyswillbeusedona‘firstcomefirstserved’basisoneachdayoftheRegattaexceptforrecoveryonthelastday.

9 SAILINGINSTRUCTIONS

9.1 TheSailingInstructionswillbeavailableatregistrationandonwww.rsgyc.ieandwww.nyc.ieandwww.iodai.compriortotheRegatta.

9.2 OptimistsshallusetheIODAI2018MajorEventSailingInstructionsandSupplementarySailingInstructionwhichwillbeavailableper9.1.

10 RACINGAREAandCOURSES

10.1TheraceareaswillbeonthesouthernsideofDublinBayorintheeventofinclementweather,racingmayberuninDunLaoghaireHarbour.

10.2ThecoursestobesailedwillbeeitherTrapezoidorWindwardLeeward.11 SCORING

11.1Laser Radial, and 420 Classes - A total of 11 races are scheduled. 4 races required to becompletedtoconstituteachampionship.

11.4For 420, Laser Radial, Laser 4.7, Topper and Topper 4.2 Classes, when fewer than five raceshavebeencompleted,aboat’sscorewillbethetotalofherracescores.

11.5For420,LaserRadial,Laser4.7,TopperandTopper4.2Classes,whenfiveormoreraceshavebeencompleted,aboat’sscorewillbethetotalofherracescoresexcludingherworstscore.

11.6FortheOptimistClass,whenfewerthansixraceshavebeencompleted,aboat’sscorewillbethetotalofherracescores.

11.7FortheOptimistClass,whenfromsixtonineraceshavebeencompleted,aboat’sscorewillbethetotalofherracescoresexcludingherworstscore.

11.8FortheOptimistClass,whentenormoreraceshavebeencompleted,aboat’sscorewillbethetotalofherracescoresexcludinghertwoworstscores.

12 SUPPORTBOATS(NP,DP)

12.1SupportboatsshallregisterwiththerespectiveRaceOffice.Anidentificationflagwhichmustbe conspicuously displayed during the regatta, will be issued by the OA at registration onpaymentofareturnabledepositof€20.00.

12.2 Except when requested by or agreed with the race committee or during emergency rescueoperations,supportboatsmuststay100mdistantfromtheraceareaunlessrequestedtoassistbyanofficialracecommitteeboatfromthetimeofthefirstWarningSignaluntilthetimethatthelastcompetitorfinishesthelastracetobesailedeachdayonthatracearea.

12.3In addition, for the 420 and Laser Radial Classes, support boats shall not communicatewithcompetitorsafloatortowcompetitorstoorfromtheRaceAreaunlessrequestedtoassistbyanofficialracecommitteeboat.

13 PRIZES

13.1For420,LaserRadial,Laser4.7,TopperandTopper4.2Classes,prizeswillbeawardedtothefirstthreeboatsoverall ineachClassandtothehighestplaceboatwithanall-femalecrewineachClass.

13.2FortheOptimistClass,prizeswillbeawardedtothefirstfiveboatsoverallandtothehighestplacefemale.

14 DISCLAIMEROFLIABILITY/RISKSTATEMENT

14.1CompetitorsandsupportteamparticipateintheseriesentirelyattheirownriskandtheyareremindedoftheprovisionsofRRS4,DecisiontoRace.Sailingisbyitsnatureanunpredictablesportand therefore involvesanelementof risk.By takingpart in theevent,eachcompetitorandsupportpersonagreesandacknowledgesthat:(a) They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept

responsibilityfortheexposureofthemselves,theircrewandtheirboattosuchinherentriskwhilsttakingpartintheevent;

(b) They are responsible for the safety of themselves, their crew, their boat and their otherpropertywhetherafloatorashore;

(c) Theyacceptresponsibilityforanyinjury,damageorlosstotheextentcausedbytheirownactionsoromissions;

(d) Byparticipatinginanyrace,theyaresatisfiedthattheirboatis ingoodorder,equippedtosailintheeventandtheyarefittoparticipate;

(e) The provision of a racemanagement team, patrol boats, umpires and other officials and

volunteersbytheorganiserdoesnotrelievethemoftheirownresponsibilities;(f) The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in extreme

weatherconditions,ascanbepracticallyprovidedinthecircumstances.(g) They will familiarize themselves with any venue/event specific risks, adhere to rules and

informationproducedforthevenue/eventandattendanyvenue/eventsafetybriefings.15 INSURANCE

15.1Eachparticipatingboatshallbe insuredwithvalidandadequatethird-party liability insurancewithaminimumcoverof€1,500,000pereventortheequivalent.

16 PHOTOGRAPHYCONSENT

16.1ByenteringtheRegattacompetitorsand,whererelevant, theirparents/guardiansacceptthatthey may be photographed and/or videotaped participating in the racing and/or using theRegatta facilities and they consent to the taking of such images and to the use, reuse,publicationandrepublicationofsuchimagesinanymedia,inconjunctionwiththecompetitor’snameornot,withoutcompensationandwithoutthecompetitor’sapprovalofsuch imagesoranyusethereof.
