Professional Presence and PresentationOne of our most common fears is public speaking. What are we so afraid of? We’re unlikely to suffer any real or lasting harm — or are we? How do you handle presenting to a few people or a thousand? The words we use as well as what people see in our eyes, movements, and actions determine how we’re viewed, judged, hired, and promoted. Our professional presence and presentation determines whether we command attention of our audience, whether we get what we want. Implementing the tips you learn in this four-hour workshop will have you well on your way to giving better presentations.

Participants in this workshop will gain confidence in extemporaneous delivery and formal presentations, learning how to become part of the message. In this activity-filled seminar you’ll have the opportunity to join in personal and group activities. We’ll be presenting, videotaping, acting out intense situations, and maybe even doing a little improv.

Professional Presence and Presentation will cover: The three components of an attention keeping presentation Best practices for content, design, and delivery Effective techniques for structuring presentations to reach

people who learn in different ways How to speak assertively and confidently Tips for dressing appropriately when appearance matters How to respond to tough situations (know-it-alls, unprepared

participants, the after lunch presentation, and more)

This half-day session is designed to help participants portray a more confident image by understanding and balancing their communication style. Developing a Talent Pipeline - Staffing for Critical RolesAre you having difficulty staffing or retaining top talent for critical roles in your organization? Companies that do not have the right people in critical jobs forfeit revenue growth, innovate more slowly, and/or lose competitive advantage because they are unable to adapt to market dynamics.

Top talent is today’s competitive differentiator that makes the difference between an organization that is thriving and one that is stagnant or worse yet, declining. Companies in all industries have a set of critical roles: jobs that must be performed—and performed well—for the companies to succeed – and these positions are not confined to leadership roles and top executives.

Organizations need to define, attract, and develop the right mix of critical talent to support and grow their businesses. To ensure a flow of the right talent for these roles over time, the best practice is for organizations to build critical-talent pipelines.

How to Conduct “Fool Proof” InterviewsAccording to the Harvard Business Review, 80 percent of turnover is caused by bad hiring decisions. These are costly mistakes. The U.S. Department of Labor calculates that it costs one-third of a new hire’s annual salary to replace an employee. Turnover for mid and upper–level managers can cost over twice their annual salary to replace.

These figures include money spent on recruitment, selection and training plus costs due to decreased productivity as other employees fill in to take up the slack. But these numbers don’t reflect the intangible damages an exciting employee can have such as lost customers and low employee morale across the rest of the organization.

In this workshop participants will learn the techniques to curb poor hiring decisions and help them put a process into action that improves their time-to-hire, reduces cost per hire and increases their success in finding the right people for their organizations.

Servant Leadership Introduction for LeadersMany bosses strive to be a Coach, Mentor or Chief Hurdle Remover Officer (CHRO) to help develop employees and move work along in their organizations. Unfortunately, they end up being just that, the boss, the driver of results and finding themselves working way too hard trying to lead and get more out of their people. A Servant leader gets results through people by teaching them to be leaders themselves creating “power-ship” and greatness from those within the organization.

(4 hrs.)This session will cover:

- Analysis of national and regional demographics - Impacts of bias, stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination within your company culture

- Case studies of cultural “incompetence” - Tools and models to evaluate individual and corporate practices

Conversely, having an inclusive workplace culture maximizes employee engagement and productivity. This workshop not only offers tools and practice to communicate effectively during difficult instances involving diversity but challenges participants to actively participate in the establishment of inclusive practices. Ergonomics for Dentists and Dental StaffHours of a day can pass in which you are holding certain postures and performing repetitive hand and shoulder movements. This is extremely apparent in dentistry professions. The postures and movements that are routinely used can begin to contribute to pain. Pain can lead to the decreased ability to work, perform leisure activities and affect your career. Even if these movements are small and light in force. The neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, low back, mid back, anterior hip and others are all areas at high risk for pain. This course is designed to consider the ergonomics and body mechanics of dental professionals and how to decrease the chance for pain through changing work movements and the work environment.

Attendees will demonstrate the development of the JIBS and use of the Blue Card 4-step process from actual work from their workplace.

TWI Job Relations is focused on helping supervisors to be proactive and therefore preventative in addressing and resolving people problems so that small match fires do not become full blown forest fires. Attendees will use a real people-problem from their workplace they have encountered and demonstrate the 4-step Yellow Card methodology in solving this people problem. 10 hour program.

Training Within Industry – Job SafetyTraining Within Industry Job Safety (TWI JS) focuses on identifying and breaking the chain of events that leads to accidents. TWI JS considers measures and takes action before a safety incident occurs. It is not to handle the aftermath. Based on the TWI instructional model, Job Safety (JS) is a program focused on environmental safety and health. TWI JS provides a framework for supervisors to engage employees in identifying potential hazards and eliminating them in conjunction with their training and knowledge in OSHA and EPA regulations. This program teaches supervisors a method to analyze the chain of events leading to accidents and hazardous situations. Direct root causes along with indirect causes are identified and remediated to “break the chain” by identifying countermeasures. JS stresses that the relationship of the supervisor and employees plays a pivotal role in a safe and environmentally responsible workplace. Monday through Thursday is at NWTC CTED in a classroom setting with Friday’s class is at an actual manufacturing facility performing an on-site inspection using the TWI JS methodology.

Training Within Industry – Job MethodsImproving the way jobs are done for continual improvement and sustaining those improvements is the greatest challenge companies are facing today with their Lean Business Journeys.

JOB METHODS supports your continuous improvement program by building on the skills of the operators and first line leaders. The aim of the program is to produce greater quantities of quality products in less time by making the best use of the people, machines, and materials currently available. Participants are taught how to break down actual jobs from their companies into their constituent operations. Every detail is questioned in a systematic manner and new methods are developed by eliminating, combining, rearranging, and simplifying steps in the process. Job Methods will enhance most team based continuous improvement programs by delivering a high volume of small incremental improvements from individuals. This program yields significant benefits including reduced cost through productivity gains, increased throughput, reduced work in process and most importantly employee engagement. 15 hour program.
