I hope everyone is working on their baskets or quilted products for the auction. It is coming up soon. It’s amazing how time flies. We are hoping to make this the best auction ever. There are many web sites for ideas or just go to Home Goods and pick something that makes you want to build a basket around.

ITTY BITTY QUILTIES: Thelma Creamer and her band of “grannies” have made 107 quiltiesfor the Preemie Unit at Sharp Hospital. But Thelma has set a goal of 1,000 for this year. WOW! So, she needs some help from us to accomplish this goal for this worthwhile project. The quilties measure 12x17 inches and are constructed with one side flannel and the other cotton or cotton/poly. Smaller pieces can be sewn togetherto create the correct sizes needed. Any pattern, any colors are useable for this project. Dig into your stash andgive Thelma a hand

COMMUNITY SERVICE

SEPTEMBER 2018Project Linus is the main focus of Guild’s philanthropy. The quilts go to RadyChildren’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald House and neonatal intensive care units at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital and the UC San Diego Medical Center. They go to Becky’s House, the San Diego Family Justice Center and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office Youth and Family Services. They go to infants and teens and every age in between.

See http://www.projectlinus.org/ for more information about this wonderful organization.

Workshops are held the first Monday and the third Tuesday of the month from 10:30am to approximately 2pm. Bring your own lunch. Please let me know if you’d like to be added to my email reminder list. I’ll be in touch a few days prior to each workshop.

The next workshop is Tuesday, September 18. See you then.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Kennel ComfortersThank you for your continued support to the Kennel Comfort Project. We appreciate your washable batting leftovers and washable fabrics. We no longer use the small scraps. Doggie and kitty beds are washed and reused many times and the smaller scraps just didn’t work.

CCSA: Summer hit hot this year and typically continues through early autumn. The pantry at CCSA could use hygiene products (shampoo, soap, baby powder) as well as filling, quick foods such as ramen, granola, rice, ‘instant’ products, and fruit cups. They are also stocking up for the upcoming winter months when more canned foods are sought. Also, white socks are always desired and much appreciated. Thank you in advance for your care and concern for those in our community who need just a small help to get along.

--Stitchingly, Lois

Yarn for ErnieThis is a reminder that Ernie can always use more yarn. It’s better if it is not wool so it’s washable. He makes blankets out of donated yarn and gives them to Project Linus. You can give me any yarn you are willing to part with. Small balls are fine, they make nice stripes. Thank you in advance.

If you can spend 5-10 minutes at the end of each sewing day doing a quick clean up job, you will be amazed at the results. There is nothing worse for stifling a bit of creative energy, than having to clean up beforehand.
