Students receiving this award have fulfilled, on their first attempts, all segments of a mul-tifaceted, departmental admission assessment, which is so rigorous that typically six percent of candidates are able to reach all thresholds on their first attempts. Among the fulfilled criteria are: a qualifying score on the nationally standardized Core Academic Skills for Educators test, positive faculty recommendations, doc-umented evidence of successful performance in K-12 field experiences, essay writing and interview proficien-cy, and proof of competency in six professional perfor-mances. The Award is named after Dr. Jim Trudnowski, a math educator, teacher educator, and Academic Dean, who served Carroll College’s students for forty-two years with knowledge, skill, and affection.
