My special message!

One of my favorite places to write and record music is on the road. I’m always inspired by the sounds in my environment, and touring gives me the chance to come up with new ideas in every city I visit.

I record melodies and beats on my phone as I go through my day and save them as voice notes. I have hundreds of voice notes saved, and many of them became songs on the album.

Hence the album title

Everything I create comes together through layers.

I originally wrote “Attention” as a classical piece and then it morphed into a funky guitar sound. It really laid the groundwork for this album.

It put me in a new place musically, and I’m really happy with how it turned out.

Not everyone knows that I have perfect pitch.

It means I can call out the exact note of every

sound I hear...and sometimes those sounds

inspire my songwriting.

The entire album tells a story

from start to finish, which you

can tell when you listen to it

all the way through.

I think “Somebody Told Me” is the most fun song on the record. I think it sounds like something you’d have on while driving around in a convertible on a nice summer day,

For the Boyz II Men track “If You Leave Me Now” we

worked remotely and recorded the vocals in Vegas. I

wanted to put really beefy chord changes into a pop song.

I wrote all of “LA Girls” in one take on

the piano. I was in the shower actually,

and the beat just came to me.

The track “How Long” was written and recorded entirely on a tour bus… with one broken speaker. We were shoved in this tiny room in the back of my tour bus.What a way to end the tour !

I produce and mix all my own records. I’m with the tracks

from the beginning to the very

end before they go to radio. Once I’ve recorded my song ideas, the studio is where I go to piece everything together.

All of my music comes from my experience. I express my feelings with music, and I think being authentic to who I am is what makes Voicenotes such a special album for me.

We’re all unique, but at the end

of the day, music has the ability

to bring everyone together.

I hope you all can find a piece
