TOP EIGHT NATIONAL SEEDThe Seminoles earned a No. 6 seed in the 2018 NCAA Softball Championship, and it is the fourth time in the last five years that the Noles ensured the opportunity to host the NCAA Super Regionals if they win their regional.

It also marks the eighth time, and fifth in a row, that FSU has hosted the NCAA Regional round. Tallahassee has played host to the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

13 STRAIGHT REGIONAL WINSThe Seminoles are competing in their 19th consecutive regional and are hosting a regional for the fifth straight year.

Since 2014, Florida State has outscored its opponents in the regional round by a combined score of 47-11. The Noles are 59-39 all-time in the NCAA Regional Round.

AGAINST THE FIELD OF 64The Seminoles have played against 10 teams that made the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Overall, FSU posted a 14-7 record against teams that will compete for the 2018 NCAA Championship, including wins over the top two national seeds - No. 1 Oregon and No. 2 Florida.

19 STRAIGHT APPEARANCESThe Noles are competing in their 31st NCAA Championship and the 19th in a row. FSU is one of nine schools to play in the NCAA postseason every year since 2000. The other schools include Alabama, Arizona, Louisiana, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, UCLA and Washington.

ACC CHAMPS!Florida State earned its 16th ACC Championship on May 12 with a 5-4 victory over Pitt. Anna Shelnutt hit a three-run, walk-off home run as the Seminoles scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to earn the win.

It marked the fifth consecutive ACC tournament title for the Noles and the sixth in eight seasons.

NO. 1 ACC SEEDThe Seminoles entered the 2018 ACC Championships with the No. 1 seed for the 15th time in program history. FSU is now 41-8-1 all-time in the ACC Championships as the No. 1 seed, including 11 conference championships.

ACC ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAMThe 2018 ACC Champion Seminoles earned three selections to the ACC All-Tournament Team, including ACC Tournament MVP Sydney Sherrill, who batted .700 for the weekend (7-for-10) with a double, a home run, three RBI and three runs scored.

She was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Anna Shelnutt and Meghan King. Shelnutt batted .571 (4-for-7) with two home runs, including the title-clinching HR over Pitt on May 12. She drove in a team-high six RBI and scored two runs.

King earned the win in the circle in all three games of the tournament, twice coming in the game in relief. She posted a 0.57 ERA over 12.1 innings of work, striking out 11 and allowing batters to hit just .167 against her as the Seminoles came from behind to win all three games of the 2018 ACC Championship.

TOUGHEST NCAA REGIONALFSU is hosting a regional for the fifth straight year, and it will be challenge in 2018 as Tallahassee will host the toughest NCAA Regional, in terms of average RPI by the top three seeds.

Florida State ended the regular season with an overall RPI of five and the No. 1-ranked non-conference strength of schedule. Auburn comes in with an RPI of 18, while Kennesaw State’s RPI is 34. The average RPI of 19 by the top three seeds is the lowest of any regional in the 2018 postseason.

4X ALL-ACC FIRST TEAMWith her 2018 All-ACC First Team selection, Jessie Warren becomes the first person since Georgia Tech’s Kelsi Weseman (2009-12) to be named to the All-ACC First Team in each of her four seasons.

Warren and Weseman are the only ones to receive that honor since the league went to a First/Second Team designation in 2005. Six players - Laura Williams (GT - 1994-97), Brandy Arthur (UNC 1995-98), Natalie Anter (UNC - 1999-02), Kristen Dennis (UNC - 1999-02), Brandi Stuart (FSU - 2000-03) and Jessica van der Linden (FSU - 2001-04) were all named to the All-ACC team in each of their four years when it was just one all-conference team.

20+ ACC WINSFlorida State has eclipsed the 20-win mark in conference play in each of the last five seasons. The Seminoles are the only ACC school to win 20 conference games in a season and hold the record of 24 ACC wins in both 2014 and 2017.

SIX IN A ROW!Florida State has been the ACC regular season champion for each of the last six seasons after finishing with the best conference winning percentage in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

It was the only time that any school in the ACC has won six straight regular season titles, passing FSU’s four-year streaks from 1992-95 and again from 2001-04.

No other school in the conference has won the regular season title four times in a row and Georgia Tech is the only other ACC school to secure three consecutive conference championships, as the Jackets earned regular season titles in 2009-11.

ACC PLAYER OF THE YEAR TRIOThe Seminoles earned three of the four individual awards for the 2018 season as Jessie Warren was named ACC Player of the Year, Kylee Hanson received ACC Pitcher of the Year honors and Sydney Sherrill was chosen as the ACC Freshman of the Year.

It is the third year in a row and ninth time overall that FSU has earned ACC Player of the Year, while the Noles have had the conference’s best pitcher for five straight seasons and six times in program history. It marks the eighth time overall, and first since Warren in 2015, that Florida State has received ACC Freshman of the Year honors.

Warren earned her second consecutive ACC Player of the Year Award and completed the conference season by leading the league in home runs (7), slugging percentage (.920) and on base percentage (.597).

Hanson posted a 13-1 record in ACC play this season with a 0.98 ERA and 95 strikeouts in 78.1 innings. Opponents batted just .128 against her during league play.

Sherrill hit 11 of her NCAA-leading 24 doubles in ACC play and batted .307 overall with 16 RBI and 13 runs scored. She added nine stolen bases and committed just three errors all season defensively.

ALL-ACC TEAMSFlorida State topped the conference with a 21-3 record and were well represented on the 2018 All-ACC teams as six Seminoles were recognized for their performance this season.

The Noles placed a league-high five members on the All-ACC First Team - Jessie Warren, Kylee Hanson, Sydney Sherrill, Zoe Casas and Meghan King.

FSU/ACC/NCAA RECORD WATCHA pair of Seminoles have already created some of the best careers in FSU history as seniors Jessie Warren and Morgan Klaevemann are all over the Florida State Top 10 list in numerous categories.

Warren broke the school record in home runs in 2017, and currently has 78. She also holds the ACC HR record and ranks 11th in NCAA history.

She has the most career home runs of any player from a school in the state of Florida, surpassing the total of 71 set by UCF’s Stephanie Best (2002-05) and Florida’s Lauren Haeger (2012-15).

On February 21, she set the FSU career record in RBI, set the ACC record in RBI on March 3 and now has 258, which is tied for 13th in NCAA history.

Warren is also in the FSU Top 10 in runs scored (217 - second) and doubles (45 - third), while her current career BA (.388) and slugging percentage (.816) would easily top the current FSU marks of .366 and .645, respectively. Her career SLG% would also rank No. 13 in NCAA history.

Klaevemann has a current career batting average of .369, which trails Warren, but would also exceed the current Florida State record of .366 set by Shamalene Wilson from 1993-96. The senior centerfielder also has 120 walks, which ranks fifth in FSU history and her 188 runs scored are sixth-most in school history and 10th in ACC history.

Klaevemann’s 123 stolen bases places her fourth on the FSU all-time list and sixth in ACC history. Junior Cali Harrod has already swiped 77 bases in her three-year career, which ranks ninth in school history.

Freshman Sydney Sherrill has 25 doubles, which currently leads the NCAA and has already shattered the FSU record of 19, set in 2017 and 2006. Her 25 doubles currently is fourth in ACC history and is tied for 17th in NCAA single-season history.

ACC WINNING STREAKSStarting the 2018 ACC season with 10 wins, along with its perfect 24-0 record in 2017 and winning its final two ACC games of 2016, Florida State won 36 straight conference games from May 7, 2016 to April 6, 2018.

The 36-game winning streak is both the longest in FSU and conference history, passing the streak of 23 the Noles put together from 2001 to 2004, back when there were only four member schools that participated in softball.

NAT’L CONFERENCE STREAKSFlorida State’s 36-game winning streak in ACC play ranks as the fifth-longest conference winning streak in NCAA history.

Massachusetts holds the all-time record with 52 straight wins in the Atlantic 10 from 2000-03, while Florida’s 37-game streak of SEC wins in 2008-09 is the only conference winning streak longer among the Power 5 conferences.

NINE WCWS APPEARANCES • 16 ACC CHAMPIONSHIPS • 31 NCAA APPEARANCES6

15-GAME HITTING STREAK2018 ACC Player of the Year Jessie Warren recently posted a team-high 15-game hitting streak, dating from April 8 to May 6.

Over that span, Warren has posted a .513 batting average (20-for-39) with three doubles, six HR, 15 RBI and 10 runs scored. She tallied a 1.051 slugging percentage and, along with 13 walks, recorded an on base percentage of .661.

32-GAME REACHED BASE STREAKJunior Carsyn Gordon leads the ACC with 50 runs scored and 43 walks, aided by a 32-game streak of reaching base from March 8 to May 5.

Gordon batted .356 (32-for-90) during the streak, with eight doubles, three triples, four HR, 28 RBI, 29 walks and 33 runs scored. She tallied an on base percentage of .528. She was pinch-hit for in the seventh inning on May 6, snapping the streak at 32 games.

CONSISTENT PRODUCTIONFlorida State tops the ACC with 335 runs scored and the Seminoles have been able to score at any time throughout their games.

The Noles have plated 55 runs in the second as well as the fourth inning, which is the highest total in an inning this season. And that total is closely followed behind by 54 in the first inning, 51 runs scored in the third inning and 50 runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.

AGGRESSIVE BASERUNNINGOne of Florida State Softball’s core values is “aggressive” and that is best exemplified on the basepaths. The Seminoles lead the ACC with 128 stolen bases and have seven players with 10+ stolen bases on the season.

The aggressiveness and team speed also factors into the total of extra-base hits, as FSU tops the league with 93 doubles and 21 triples.

90-20-50The Seminoles begin the NCAA Championship with 93 doubles, 21 triples and 59 home runs and are the only team in the country that has reached the 90-20-50 mark so far this season.

The 93 doubles ranks fifth nationally, FSU is third in the NCAA with 21 triples and are 15th in the country with 56 home runs.

EXTRA BASE HIT RECORDSAs the NCAA postseason begins, the Seminoles are already approaching team records in doubles and home runs.

Aided by Sydney Sherrill’s 25 doubles, Florida State has already tallied 93 doubles which ranks fifth in the NCAA and is nine more than the nearest Power 5 school (Washington - 84).

The 93 doubles ranks in a tie for second-most in FSU history and is just one away from the Florida State record of 94 doubles set in 2017.

The Seminoles also set its single-season home run record of 71 in 2017 and the 2018 Noles are working their way up the list to try and match or exceed it. So far, FSU has 59 home runs, which already ranks fifth all-time at Florida State.

POWER FROM EVERY LINEUP SPOTFlorida State leads the ACC with 93 doubles and 59 home runs, while its 21 triples are tied with Syracuse for the most in the conference.

That extra-base hit production has come from all over the batting order, as each spot in the lineup has recorded at least six extra-base hits so far in 2018, with seven of the nine having 14+ XBHs this season.

There have only been seven games this season in which Florida State has failed to record at least one extra-base hit.

SENIOR CLASS CANDIDATESSeminole seniors Morgan Klaevemann and Kylee Hanson were selected as two of the top 30 candidates for the 2018 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate softball. Florida State is one of two schools, along with LSU, to have multiple members among the Top 30 candidates.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

Florida State has had three student-athletes win the Senior CLASS Award, including Baseball’s James Ramsey in 2012 and Softball’s Lacey Waldrop (2015) and Alex Powers (2017).

PITCHING EFFICIENCYThe Seminole starting duo of Kylee Hanson and Meghan King have been outstanding in the circle this season and have quickly gotten the FSU defense back in the dugout on very efficient outings.

Hanson has faced four or fewer batters in over 86% of her innings this season (147-of-171.0), including 91 perfect 1-2-3 innings. King has seen no more than four batters in 71% of her times in the circle (103-of-144.2), with 65 three-batter innings.

DO NOT PASS FIRSTAs hard as it is for opposing batters to get on base against Kylee Hanson, due to her 194 strikeouts on the season with a opposing batting average of .134, it becomes ever harder to move around the bases against her.

The redshirt senior has allowed 135 baserunners this season on 82 hits, 39 walks, four HBP and 10 Seminole errors, but only 75 of them (55%)have reached second base. Just 46 of those have advanced to third base this season and Hanson has allowed 32 runs on the 2018 season.

DUAL MVPS OF ACC/BIG TENFor the first time, each host site of the ACC/Big Ten Softball Challenge awarded a Most Valuable Pitcher and Most Valuable Player award to a member of from the four teams at that site.

The Seminoles took both awards for the Tallahassee site, as a pair of newcomers to Florida State excelled on the weekend against two ranked teams.

Freshman Sydney Sherrill was dynamic at the plate to earn Most valuable Player honors, batting .583 (7-for-12) with two doubles, two RBI, three runs scored and a .750 slugging percentage over the weekend. She had her first career four-hit game on February 17, hitting safely in all four plate appearances against No. 14 Minnesota.

Redshirt senior Kylee Hanson may be in her first year at an ACC school, but felt right at home, posting a 2-0 record and a 0.00 ERA to take home Most Valuable Pitcher honors. She gave up just four hits and three walks over 11.2 innings with 12 strikeouts and limited No. 14 Minnesota and No. 20 Michigan to a .098 batting average on the weekend.

FIRST HIT, FIRST HOME RUNFreshman Sydney Sherrill started off her Seminole career with a bang, sending her first base hit while wearing the Garnet and Gold over the right field wall against Portland State on February 9. She is the first Seminole player to record a home run for their first base hit since Carsyn Gordon hit a grand slam against Florida A&M on February 24, 2016.

AROUND THE HORNThe softball is often tossed around the infield after a strikeout, but the home run bat was tossed around the Seminole infield on opening day as each starting infielder hit a home run against Portland State on February 9.

Third baseman Jessie Warren started the barrage with a two-run home run in the second inning, while shortstop Cali Harrod (two-run) and second baseman Sydney Sherrill (two-run) each hit round-trippers in the third inning. First baseman Carsyn Gordon finished the circuit with a three-run home run in the fourth inning.

2018 ACC/BIG TEN CHALLENGE Tallahassee was one of five host cities for the third annual ACC/Big Ten Softball Challenge, along with Atlanta, Ga., and three sites in North Carolina - Chapel Hill, Raleigh and Durham.

In this challenge each ACC team: No. 8 Florida State and RV Notre Dame played two games against each Big Ten school: No. 14 Minnesota and No. 20 Michigan.

The ACC won the challenge for the second year in a row, finishing with a 26-14 record. In 2017, the ACC came out with a 19-13 record, while the Big Ten won the inaugural Challenge in 2016 with a record of 20-12.

No ACC school finished the 2018 Challenge with a losing record on the weekend as all 10 schools went either 2-2, 3-1 or 4-0.

Florida State and Notre Dame each finished 3-1 in Tallahassee, while Michigan had a 2-2 mark and Minnesota was 0-4.

Florida State has a combined record of 9-3 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, and have won nine of their last 10 games of the Challenge, sweeping Minnesota in 2016 and 2018, and both Northwestern and Nebraska in 2017.

SCORELESS STREAKKylee Hanson held opponents without a run for 34.1 consecutive innings from March 2-21, a span covering six appearances.

In those games she allowed 16 hits and 7 walks and tallied 46 strikeouts. Hanson did not allow a runner to even reach third base in the first 32.0 innings of the scoreless streak.

#FSACCFIVE CORE VALUES OF FLORIDA STATE SOFTBALL

FAMILY - When you play softball at Florida State, you don’t just play for a team, you play for a family. Each

person cares for their teammates as if they were a sister, committing to each other through thick and thin. As

members of an extended softball family, each one motivates the other and enjoys seeing them succeed. When issues

arise, communication is key and allows for a loving relationship that creates a bond that results in an entire team of

student-athletes fighting for each other, both on and off the field to be the best they can be.

SMART - Being smart, in a wide variety of disciplines, is a cornerstone of the Florida State softball program. In

school, it allows you to achieve a degree and plan for a future after softball. At practice, it means training with a purpose,

honing your skills and gaining experience by not just going through the motions. In the game, it means having a plan at

plate offensively or a pitching and defensive shift plan for opposing hitters based on various scouting reports. Off the

field, it means making wise decisions with time management and other activities to be able to be at your best.

AGGRESSIVE - You aren’t just given things in life, you must aggressively pursue your dreams in order to

achieve them. Being aggressive means taking that extra base on a ball in the gap, stealing second when you need

to get a runner into scoring position, heading to your teacher’s office hours to talk about things you may not have

understood in class, going after a hitter with your best pitch in the best location and challenging yourself to become

the best you can be because you are passionate about helping the team succeed.

COMPETITIVE - A team-based sport is one of the most competitive dynamic there is in life. To be successful,

you need to be competitive in many areas. We strive to be competitive on the field, winning individual games, along with

conference and national championships. We are competitive with each other on the team, knowing that we make each

other better as each one raises their level of skill and accomplishments. We are also competitive off the field, in the

classroom and in the workforce as there are many who would seek to be where we are, but only few will attain it.

COMMITTED - The previous four core values mean nothing unless everyone is committed to it. Obstacles

and challenges will come up. Losses on the field and issues off of it will occur and cause problems that will need to be

addressed. But when we are committed - to each other, to the team, to the goals that have been set - very little can

disrupt our goals and pursuits. A unified force with a united passion is very difficult to stop and our commitment to

the vision and the process will enable us to be successful.

CCore Values Shape Culture• The Seminole Softball team has incorporated these values into all areas of team life, both on and off the field. • Each fall since 2015, FSU experienced “The Program”, a two-day boot camp event where the team worked on communication, problem solving, endurance, persever-ance, paying attention to details and teamwork while accomplishing tasks on the field, at a pool, on the beach, in the woods, among others.• Each year, the team has been able to build trust within the team by attaining goals and going through the physical and mental adversity that The Program imposes on them as a collective team and unit. • The Seminoles also start each game and practice at “The GATE”, which at JoAnne Graf Field is a physical gate, but it helps to focus on being present for the team, allowing outside distractions to stay outside and to “Give your All to the Team Everyday.”

“PLAY FOR THOSE WHO CAN’T”One of the foundational principles that Florida State softball is built on is, “Play for those who can’t.” The Seminoles have displayed that throughout the years, including recently with people like Taylor Foster, Madison Marshall and Monk Bonasorte.

Taylor Foster became part of the FSU family in 2013 through a connection with the ACC, and despite growing up in North Carolina, dreamed of playing softball for the Seminoles. Foster was diagnosed with bone cancer in at the age of 13 and her passion and enthusiasm in the face of such adversity never faltered. The Noles would routinely stop by to see Taylor and her family when playing NC area schools and the players and coaches would often keep touch via calls, texts and video chats. After her passing in April of 2014, an annual memorial tournament and camp was started and organized by FSU softball players, coaches and support staff for youth in North Carolina to share Taylor’s passion for the game and tell of her legacy.

In 2016, and through a partnership with The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, FSU softball adopted Madison Marshall who had been diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2014 at the age of 14. The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation was created in 2005 and pairs children with pediatric brain tumors with collegiate sports teams, as they have seen the symbotic relationships that are formed help both the child going through such a difficult situation, but also the teams that are able to come along side a family and help them fight and learn a new appreciation and persepctive on life.

Monk Bonasorte, one of the main FSU athletic administrators responsible for hiring Lonni Alam-eda as head coach in the fall of 2008, had played football at FSU in the late 70s, and was voted into the FSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 1995. As a result, he bled Garnet and Gold and became a signifcant supporter of FSU softball, as well as all of the other sports on campus. In October of 2015, Bonasorte was diagnosed with brain cancer, yet never wavered in his passion for FSU and life. Right up to his passing in November of 2016, he continued to give his life to this university and be an example of the Florida State “Unconquered” spirit. In 2017, the Lonni Alameda Softball Camps began the Monk Bonasorte Camp (Camp MB42), where the young players in attendance not only learn about the skills of softball, but also about life and who Monk was, what he meant to Florida State and how he battled through such adver-sity. All of the proceeds of the annual camp go to the FSU Monk Bonasorte Scholarship, and to date, the camp has raised over $8,500.

There are numerous other relationships that have been formed over the years with young fans like Amber Howard and Maddie Briscoe, and even former players such as Dana Bailey that have battled cancer, the FSU players and staff know that there is much more to life than just this game. Though several are now gone, they are certainly not forgotten and remain a significant part of Seminole softball to this day.
