Fine Art Jurors

Summer Ventis: 2D Artworks / Non-Paintings

Summer Ventis is Assistant Professor of Printmaking at California State University, Sacramento.

She received a BA in Art from Grinnell College and an MFA in Printmaking from the University of

Colorado, Boulder. Her work has appeared in national and international exhibitions, including “The

Contemporary Print” at Flatbed Press in Austin, TX; “Collision and Equilibrium” at the Liu Haisu

Art Museum in Shanghai, China; and “Global Print 2017” in Douro, Portugal, and is held by

collections, including those of the Denver Art Museum and Proyecto ’ace in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Ventis is also an active member of Southern Graphics Council International and of the artist

collectives Hyperlink and Artnauts.

Chris Daubert: 2D Artworks / Brushworks & Plein Air

Chris Daubert is an artist, writer and curator who lives in California’s Central Valley. He has

exhibited his drawings, paintings and large multi-media installations locally and nationally for

many years. His work has been shown at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and New Langton

Arts in San Francisco, The Drawing Center in New York, The Crocker Museum and b. sakata garo in

Sacramento, and numerous other locations. Born in Oakland, California, he was one of the

artist/founders of the non-profit gallery ProArts. He received his B.A. and M.A. from Cal State

University, San Jose, and his M.F.A. from UC Davis. Since moving to the Sacramento Area, he has

served as the curator of the Richard L. Nelson Gallery at the University of California Davis, and the

Gregory Kondos Gallery at Sacramento City College. He also served as chair of the Exhibition

Committee of the Center for Contemporary Art, Sacramento. He is Professor emeritus of the Art

Department at Sacramento City College where he was professor of Painting and New Media, and is

currently teaching the history of Contemporary Art at CSU Sacramento. He has authored and co-

authored several books and exhibition catalogues. In 2014, with collaborator Eve Aschheim, he

released the book, Episodes with Wayne Thiebaud, a collection of interviews with the painter.

Douglas Dertinger: Photographic Works

Douglas Dertinger is Assistant Professor of Photography at California State University, Sacramento,

teaching advanced portfolio and intermediate photography. He received his BFA from Colorado State

University, and his MFA from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.

Terry Peterson: 3D Artworks

Terry Peterson is an Assistant Professor of Studio Art at Sacramento City College where he teaches

sculpture and drawing courses. Born and raised in Fort Bragg on the Northern California Coast, the

blue-collar themes and materials that make up Terry’s large-scale, multimedia, kinetic sculptures

largely derive from this background. Terry started his formal education at Shasta College where he

earned an AA in Art, going on to earn his BA from the College of Creative Studies at UC Santa

Barbara. Terry finished his education with an MFA from UC Davis and currently lives in

Sacramento with his wife, Kimberly. Terry is dedicated to keeping a lively and disciplined studio

practice and is engaged in the local art community. He has an active exhibition record, having

shown in various California cities, most recently with solo exhibitions at Aggregate Space Gallery in

Oakland in 2015, and at the Pence Gallery in Davis California in the fall of 2017.

Jill Vasileff: Digital Artwork

Jill Vasileff was born in Detroit, Michigan and currently lives & works in Stockton, California. She is

a Visiting Lecturer/Assistant Professor in the Department of Visual Arts at University of the Pacific

and holds a BFA (painting) from Parsons School of Design, NY, NY and an MFA (painting) from the

Milton Avery School of Art, Bard College, Annandale, NY. She has received merit scholarships from

Parsons & Bard, and an Art on the Move Public Sculpture Residency that was installed at the

Detroit Institute of Arts. Her work has been exhibited nationally including Sensory Overload at the

Corcoran Gallery of Art, Flower Re:Power at the Housatonic Museum of Art in Connecticut and the

New York Feminist Art Institute, NYC.
