Natural Gas Workers & Natural Gas Fires: A First-of-its Kind Analysis of the Hazards– Mike Anderson, National Fuel, Chris Newton, DuPont Does your organization know the potential heat intensity of a natural gas fire in an excavation? Or how long it would take a typical gas worker to extinguish or escape from an excavation fire? How do your FR garments perform when exposed to the intensities of a natural gas fire? In this first-of-its kind study, real-world scenarios and real data from real natural gas fires were captured by AGA‘s Safety & Occupational Health Committee and industry experts. Those who attend the presentation will also experience video footage of the tests including high resolution infra-red imagery captured during actual natural gas fires . Those who attend will learn of an easy and inexpensive aspect of FR protection that can be implemented almost immediately to substantially enhance the protection provided by your current FR garments.

Real-time, visual apps for smartphones, iPads and the web to provide first responders and work crews with enhanced communications and reporting tools are now available that are simple, easy to use and available “on-the-shelf” to be launched in quick fashion.

Leak Scene Safety Program– Mike Anderson, National Fuel, Kevin Carr, Public Service Electric & Gas, and Steve O’Gorman, New Jersey Natural Gas When potentially combustible levels of natural gas are detected and lead to the evacuation of a structure, what is a safe distance to keep utility workers and other individuals away from the structure? How do you know when it is safe to approach or enter? What evacuation criteria are gas utilities using to make these critical decisions? This presentation highlights criteria used by the panelists based upon lessons learned.

The presenters will discuss how the risk model works and actual results in terms of reduction in damages.

The presenters will focus on advancements made to advanced meter infrastructure networks that can do more than just serve as a meter reading platform. Case study and application information will be provided that highlights the diagnostic, safety and security capabilities that are available.

The results have allowed NJNG to proactively identify potential trends and issues to enhance contractor training and communications. This presentation will provide an overview of successes and lessons learned.

National Grid recently deployed technology to more than 100 inspectors to capture daily contractor activity reports on a tablet. The
new technology provides real-time visibility into project progress and contractor regulatory compliance. This presentation will provide
an overview of the technology and implementation project, including end-user acceptance and training.

Cancellation Policy: Due to contractual obligations, cancellations
received 15 business days prior to the program will receive a full
refund. Cancellations received 6 to 14 business days prior to the
event will receive a refund, less a $100 administrative fee. No
shows and last minute cancellations, 5 business days prior to the
event or less, will be responsible for the full registration
fee. Substitutions from your organization for the same event are
always welcome.
