Session 1

8:30—9:15

Natural Gas Workers & Natural Gas Fires: A First-of-its Kind Analysis of the Hazards– Mike Anderson, National Fuel, Chris Newton, DuPont Does your organization know the potential heat intensity of a natural gas fire in an excavation? Or how long it would take a typical gas worker to extinguish or escape from an excavation fire? How do your FR garments perform when exposed to the intensities of a natural gas fire? In this first-of-its kind study, real-world scenarios and real data from real natural gas fires were captured by AGA‘s Safety & Occupational Health Committee and industry experts. Those who attend the presentation will also experience video footage of the tests including high resolution infra-red imagery captured during actual natural gas fires . Those who attend will learn of an easy and inexpensive aspect of FR protection that can be implemented almost immediately to substantially enhance the protection provided by your current FR garments.
