Graduates of any 3-year diploma program may receive 60 transfer credits towards this degree. Additional Seneca coursework may increase the amount of transfer credit to a maximum of 66 transfer credits (grade of C or better is required for a course to transfer). Graduates do not need to complete specific majors in order to be considered for the Honours Bachelor of Commerce college transfer program. The

Honours Bachelor of Commerce college transfer program can be completed in two years of study after graduating from Seneca. To be considered for the Honours Bachelor of Commerce college transfer program, Seneca graduates must have the following courses in their background:

Graduates of these 2-year diplomas with a cumulative average of B– are eligible for up to two terms of credit toward this degree. **Graduates of 2-year diploma programs in business from any College of Applied Arts and Technology with a cumulative average of B– may transfer to the Odette School of Business Administration at the University of Windsor subject to the following:

Graduates with a minimum 3.0 GPA are eligible, within 10 years of graduation, to apply for admission to a degree program offered by the School of Computer Science at the University of Windsor and may receive transfer credit for up to 15 semester courses (1.5 years of Advanced Standing).

Degree: BA Honours in Disability Studies, Psychology, Social Work

Graduates of all Ontario College Child and Youth Care diploma programs completed in 1996 or later with a cumulative average equivalent to a B (73%) or better will be eligible for entry into Disability Studies and Psychology Degree Completion Programs for CYC Graduates and are eligible to apply for entry into the Honours Bachelor of Social Work for CYC Graduates. Completion of these programs will normally require 3 semesters of full-time study (for General BA degree completion programs) or 4 semesters of full-time study (for Honours BA and BSW degree completion programs).

Admission Requirements: Seneca students will be considered for admission to undergraduate degree studies at York with successful completion of a minimum of 2 full semesters of academic study in an academic program. A minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.0 on a 4-point scale including all attempted courses is required. These are minimum requirements only. Some programs will require a higher average for admission, or supplementary application requirements and specific high school senior level prerequisites. Students must also meet York’s language proficiency requirements and program prerequisites if required. All previous academic studies will be considered including courses completed at another college or university.

Transfer Credit: While we offer guidelines as to how much transfer credit may be expected for the programs outlined below, transfer credit is assessed on an individual basis only after an admissions decision is made. The amount of transfer credit a student receives is dependent on individual course grades, the academic content, length of program completed and prior postsecondary studies (if applicable). How

these credits are applied toward a student’s degree at York will vary by program. The number of credits you receive and the number of credits required to complete your degree may not match exactly. Depending on the program of study chosen at York University, you may be required to complete additional courses to meet the specific program requirements. Students, who are in programs that are not listed, may receive minimal transfer credit but are still encouraged to apply. As a guideline, please note that 15 transfer credits are the equivalent of 1 semester of full-time studies at York University and 30 transfer credits are the equivalent of 1 year of full-time studies.

Students presenting an unfavourable academic record from an accredited postsecondary institution may have transfer credit restrictions imposed. Graduates with an overall GPA of at least 3.0 (B or 70%) will be considered for admission and granted up to 36 transfer credits when entering Bachelor of Arts degree programs in the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies at York University. All applicants will be granted 3 additional transfer credits for each YKC and YKL course achieved with a minimum grade of C for a total of 12 additional transfer credits, for a total of 48 (36+12). Please note that, depending on course waivers and degree program chosen, students may need to complete more than 120 credits to graduate from York University. Students who have completed all 1st- and 2nd-semester courses of the Liberal Arts program and who have an overall GPA of at least 3.0 (B or 70%) will also be allowed to take up to 12 credits in York University courses during their Liberal Arts studies. Students having completed all 1st-semester courses with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and enrolled in required 2nd-semester courses of the Liberal Arts program may be conditionally admitted to begin courses at York University. Transfer credit from the Liberal Arts program combined with the York University credits earned while in Liberal Arts allow students to earn up to 60 credits before transferring full time to York University. Seneca Program: Arts & Science University Transfer

Degree: Any Bachelor Degree (excluding the Schulich BBA and IBBA degree program)

Graduates of Seneca’s Arts and Science University Transfer diploma program with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B or 70%) or 3.3 (B+ or 75%) (depending on the York University program) will be eligible for admission consideration, and granted a block of 48 transfer credits (inclusive of the YKC and


YKL courses successfully completed) into any York University degree program (except for the Schulich BBA and IBBA degree programs). Applicants will also need to meet any additional program specific admission requirements. Students enrolled in Seneca’s Arts and Science University Transfer diploma program may apply to take up to 12 York credits while they complete their program. To be eligible, students must have completed all 1st and 2nd semester courses of the Arts and Science University Transfer diploma program, be enrolled in required 3rd semester courses and have an overall GPA of at least 3.3 (B+ or 75%). Graduates of the aforementioned Seneca program who have completed the maximum 12 additional York University courses while pursuing their program, may receive a total of 60 York University credits (including the 48 block credits).

Note: Graduates of Seneca’s Arts and Science University Transfer diploma program are deemed to have satisfied the pre-requisites equivalent to: Mathematics (MHF4U, MCV4U), Chemistry (SCH4U), Biology (SBI4U) and Physics (SPH4U). These may be required for York programs in the Faculty of Health, the Faculty of Science and the Lassonde School of Engineering.


Degree: Bachelor of Science (BSc)

Graduates of Seneca’s Biotechnology advanced diploma program with a minimum grade point average of 3.3 (B+ or 75%) will be eligible for admission consideration, and granted a block of 51 transfer credits into the Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology degree. Students enrolled in Seneca’s Biotechnology advanced diploma program will be allowed to register for BIOL 1001 3.0 and BIOL 2040 3.0 at York University (normally during the summer term after the completion of semester one and two) while they pursue their diploma at Seneca. To be eligible, students must have completed all 1st and 2nd semester courses of the Biotechnology advanced diploma program and have an overall GPA of at least 3.3 (B+ or 75%). Students who have completed 1st semester courses and are enrolled in 2nd semester, may also be conditionally admitted with an overall GPA of at least 3.3 (B+ or 75%) so long as they meet any additional program specific admission requirements.


Degree: Bachelor of Commerce (BCom)

Graduates who meet the admission requirements and maintain a ‘C’ or better in every course completed are eligible for a maximum of 45 transfer credits (the equivalent of a year and a half) for the General BCom degree and 48 transfer credits for the Honours BCom degree. Graduates who do not maintain a C or better in every course are eligible for a maximum of 42 credits. For admission to the BCom degree, students must also present MHF4U or have successfully completed the Mathematics of Finance and the Business Statistics courses at Seneca.
