and MC Ben Hurley.

Ian TaylorIan founded Animation Research Ltd (ARL) in 1990 on nothing more than a handshake with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Otago. They bought their first hard drive to make their first TV commercial in 1991. It cost $15,000 and had 1 GB of memory. The computer they used for the America’s Cup in 1992 was the size of a small fridge and cost $500,000. Everything they did on that computer they can now do a mobile phone.

Today, working from their base in Dunedin, ARL covers sports events all over the world. They also have a joint venture with Airways New Zealand, who market the Air Traffic Control Simulator they built for them. They had never built one before. They continue to service the F1 Race Car simulator they built forone of the world’s leading F1 Race Teams. They had never built one before. They built an online Risk Assessment platform for one of the world’s largest mining companies. They had never built one before. They built an online application to demonstrate the power of the IBM cloud-based analytics engine, which they presented to a conference of 22,000 delegates. They built it in three weeks. They had never built one of those before, either.

Ian holds an LLB from the University of Otago and was inducted into the New Zealand Hi-Tech Hall of Fame in 2009. In 2010, he was named North & South magazine’s New Zealander of the Year. In the same year, he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the New Zealand Computer Society, the top honour of the ICT sector in New Zealand. He was named a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2012 New Year Honours, for services to television and business, and won the Creative sector of the World Class New Zealander Awards. In 2013, he was named Outstanding Maori Business Leader of the Year.

Ben HurleyStar of hit TV3 Show 7 Days - Ben Hurley is one of the success stories of New Zealand stand-up comedy. Winner of the two biggest comedy awards in New Zealand, the 2004 Oddfellows Billy T award and the 2008 Fred Dagg award, Hurley is a headline act in New Zealand but also on the highly competitive UK circuit. In 2008 he supported Irish superstar Ed Byrne on a 70-date sell out tour of the UK and Ireland.

One of the few Kiwi acts to be invited to perform on the prestigious Comedy Store TV show shown on the Paramount Comedy channel. Also, one of the stars of the UK Festival Circuit playing to thousands in the comedy tents at Reading and Leeds Festival, Bestival and Latitude. In 2008 Hurley starred alongside British comic, Andy Parsons, in a new BBC Radio 4 sitcom The Lost Blog of Scrooby Trevithick.

One of New Zealand’s best-travelled comedians, Ben has wowed audiences in 10 countries including Switzerland, Dubai, Spain, Australia, Singapore and Bahrain.

Dr Peter Sergel - Director Hamilton GardensDr Sergel conceptualized the fabulous Hamilton Gardens concept in the 1980’s. His talk on ‘4000 years of Gardening Design and where it is heading’ - using the Hamilton Gardens as examples and combined with a tour of Hamilton Gardens and the new multi-million Fantasy Garden development is not to be missed.

Daniel Fitzpatrick - Successful TradieThe title of Daniel’s presentation is ‘How to make more money in your landscaping business without working nights and weekends’. Daniel’s presentation is ‘meaty’ and ‘practical’ so if you are not getting the traction and results you want, you’ll learn the drivers that will take your business to the next level and free up your valuable spare time.

At the end all attendees at the conference can sign up for a complimentary ‘strategy session’ to customise the ideas you’ll learn for your own personal situation.

Jon Randles - Partner Mosh Social MediaJon likes to emphasize the ‘human’ nature of social media and, having been at the coal face since 2009, is one of the most experienced social media managers in New Zealand. Jon will outline the strategy behind our social media marketing campaign and you will get a much better understanding of the importance of using social media marketing in today’s digital age.
