The last Monday in June. Start time: 8:30PM Location: Ascension Lutheran Church 33 Bayshore Road, Deer Park, NY (Walk through the side doors. We are in room 11-12)
Directions: From LIE or Northern State; (LIE Exit 51 South) Deer Park Ave (Rte 231).Go about 11 lights to Bayshore Rd. (Olympic Diner on Right, Boston Market on left). Turn left onto Bayshore Rd. The church is on your left side. Park in parking lot for Sears, close to Bayshore Rd. Walk across the street and enter through main doors. Room for the meeting is straight back (Social Room). 2018 DIRECTIONS TO ALL FACILITIES
(Some of these locations may be used this season but when we went to press, were not yet confirmed.)
DEER PARK HIGH SCHOOL, DEER PARK, NY 1 Falcon Place, Deer Park, NY 11729 LIE to exit 51 for Deer Park Ave South. Turn Right onto Nicholls Road and then make a left on North 5th Street and make a left on Falcon Place. This school is a non-smoking campus including the parking lot. ABSOLUTELY NO Food or Drink allowed in the gymnasium. Sneakers are to be worn by ALL.
ROBERT FROST MIDDLE SCHOOL, DEER PARK, NY 450 Half Hollow Rd. Deer Park, NY 11729 LIE to exit 51 for Deer Park Ave South. Go approximately 6 lights. COMSEWOGUE HIGH SCHOOL, PORT JEFFERSON STATION, NY 565 Bicycle Path, Port Jefferson, NY 11776 FROM LIE: to Exit 63 North – North Ocean Avenue (from East turn right off service road, from west turn left off service road); take approximately 3 miles to Old Town Road make left. Go approximately 1.5 miles to Bicycle Path and make a right. School will be on the right side. TAKE ROUTE 347: from East make a left onto Route 112, from West make a right onto Route 112. Go approximately 1/2 mile and bare right onto Bicycle Path (light at intersection). The school will be approximately ¾ mile on left side.

CONTEST RULES AND INFORMATION (NEW RULES AND INFORMATION ARE IN RED)
PAYMENT: For all NY Council events, make check payable to NY Twirling Council. For all other events, payment
should be made payable to the organization listed. NYS and FOF Championships: payment is by Money Order or Cashier’s Check ONLY!
REFUNDS: NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN. THIS INCLUDES POSTPONEMENTS DUE TO SEVERE WEATHER.
ORDER OF EVENTS: Doors open 1 hour prior to start of contest. Contest start times will be at the discretion of the Contest Director. Start times will be communicated a week prior to contest date. You MUST bring your Athlete Record Book in order to be evaluated for Compulsories. If you do NOT you will NOT be evaluated. Books can be purchased for $6 at the contests. Teams will not start prior to 9:45AM, followed by Foundation Events, Strut, Dance Twirl (Solo & Pairs), Solo, 2 Baton, 3 Baton and Solo Pairs.
CATEGORIES: Novice: never won a first. Beginner: less than 5 firsts. Intermediate: less than 10 firsts. Semi (Non Sanctioned): less than 15 firsts. Advanced: 15 or more firsts**(Advanced, as sanctioned is 10 or more firsts.) Twirl Offs DO NOT COUNT. All awards regardless of organization, with the exception of USTA Strut count in your advancement.
NYS: NYS Championships will run followed by finals within each event.
NYS: FOF Championships: Events will run Novice, Beginner, and Intermediate. Age categories may be combined at the discretion of the Contest Director.
NYS AND FOF: 2018 Commemorative T-shirt Deadline is April 6, 2018. Pre-Orders Only - $15.00. Order T-Shirt on the FOF or NYS Solo Entry Form.
CONTEST DIRECTOR: Reserves the right to make any changes necessary. No changes may be made once an entry is received. ONLY errors made by the contest director will be corrected. Phone entries are discouraged and may be taken at the discretion of the contest director. NO ENTRIES will be accepted the day of the contest. (Exception: Compulsories, which is at the discretion of the contest director. NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED).
TEAM DIRECTORS: Additional Team Entries may be Xeroxed. An entry box for each contest may be brought to the previous contest. Groups performing for COMMENTS ONLY-receive no award.
ADMISSION: Adults: $6, Senior Citizens/Children/Current NYTC Members: $4, Children Under 5 FREE. Current NYTC Members: You MUST show your current NYTC Membership Card. Admission includes all local contests and each day of the NYS Championships.
CONTEST DEADLINES: ALL CONTEST DEADLINES ARE RECEIVED BY THE CONTEST DIRECTOR, INCLUDING NYS and FOF CHAMPIONSHIPS. See entry form for info. NY Council Events will not accept phone entries and entries left in boxes must be accompanied by check. Please get your entries in on time.
LOCAL CONTEST PROGRAMS: May be Pre-Ordered for $3.00. If available and purchased at the contest: $4.00.
USTA MEMBERSHIP: Do not send copies of membership cards. The entry director will check memberships with USTA. If you are not a current USTA member when you submit your entry then you must include the $12.00 Member for a Day fee. (Please note USTA membership fees other than the Member for a Day cannot be accepted by anyone other than the National USTA member services office and will not be accepted the day of the contest).
AGE ELIGIBILITY: Athletes will compete at the age they will be during the calendar year January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2018.

COLLEGIATE TWIRLING EVENT: The collegiate twirling event is performed by any individual, enrolled and matriculating in a college or university (undergraduate or graduate), with one or multiple batons to the university fight song and a powerful musical selection of the athlete’s choice. The collegiate twirling event should reflect the athlete’s performance on the field by displaying musicality, movement across the field/competition floor, and presentation to the audience with the addition of one or multiple batons.
Athletes competing in the event may use one or more batons, but no props or backdrops. The time limit is 2 to 3 minutes, with a (:10) leeway on either end (1:50-3:10) set to the college/university fight song and a musical selection of the athlete’s choice.
There will be one level of competition.
ARTISTIC GROUPS; USTA Board of Directors approved the inclusion of the Artistic Group as a USTA sanctioned event. This exciting new event will be offered at local, state and regional competitions and the National Championships. To obtain copies of the event score sheet please refer to the USTA Rule Book
· One level will be offered. · Content restriction will follow the Content Restrictions for groups - see chart. · Number of members: minimum of 10. No maximum. · The group may consist of members of both sexes, if so desired. · Same time limit as WBTF Team. · Scores are not flashed for the WBTF Group event.
MUSIC SUBMISSION: Please see Council website for instructions on submitting digital recordings.
SPECIAL NOTE: The finals round for soloists at the NYS Championships will take place on Saturday. The winners (Grand Champions) will again be officially presented on Sunday. Also; Freestyle
critiques will take place on Sunday of the NYS Championships and begin at 8:00 a.m. These are both consistent with last year’s schedule.

Ages: Athletes must enter the NYS Championships at the age they will be on Dec. 31, 2018.

The New York Twirling Council has implemented a $20 per organization and $2 per individual competitor “Maintenance Charge”. The need for this charge will be reviewed at each annual NYTC meeting.

Group Information
Team competition will begin after the completion of the freestyle & short program critiques.
Group Entry Form: 1. All entries must be accompanied by attached roster listing team/corps members, ages, birth dates and average ages for
each team/corps. It must also list musical selections for all teams if not listed on entry form. Please type or print clearly.
2. If you have two (or more) teams in the same division (ex: 2 beg primary small dance twirl teams) indicate this in the “Fill
in Name” column and enter the appropriate fee for both teams in the “Fill in Fee Paid” column.
3. All members of more than one team/corps must be designated on the roster listing the name of the other groups with
category, level and age division specified. This includes members who may belong to more than one organization.
4. “NYS” teams are the advanced teams competing for the NYS championship title.
5. We will offer Novice and Juvenile Parade Corps as Non-Sanctioned
6. Fee columns include USTA surcharge. Organization fees $40, pay once per organization.
