2018 Annual Conference Sale Packages

Year after year effort is put into the preparation of offerings for the conference sale and each year they get better and better. This year is no exception: Four lots of semen will be offered, from a combination of old favourites to new bloodlines not usually available. There are three embryo packages from the Magenta, Clover and Nellie families which are sure to tempt you, and an offering of three special individuals which can be seen before the sale on Wednesday 16th May, 4pm at Home Farm, SA62 6JL. Making your choice could prove to be difficult.

100% Ayrshire (Eligible for export)

This son of the great Bankend Lord Ontario,

out of the high producing cow Bellfield

Brown Lady 30 LP60, offers positive

components for his daughters. Brown Lady

30 completed eight lactations and calved

regularly every year. Her top production

was 10,061kg 4.45% bfat 3.46% ptn. The

daughters of Top Quality are big powerful

cows with plenty of chest width and are

deep bodied and they excel in their leg

setting and have good teat length.

Brocklehill Harvest Gold will be in the

background of many pedigrees in the UK.

This son of Pant Beverley, sired by Pant

Blue Lagoon, is known for transmitting

daughters with superb temperament along

with excellent rump structure. Many famous

daughters have been sire by Harvest Gold

including Hunnington Sailor Girl 36 EX96,

Hunnington Fragy 4 EX94, Hitcham Rita

25 EX, Ellerton Brown Julia 74 EX91 and

Brieryside Pearl 14 EX91.

10 Straws Roi Festival


How about this for a complete outcross?

Festival has a PLI £154, positive on milk at

+158kg, positive on Protein percentage and

transmits good daughter fertility! His use in

the UK was limited with only a small amount

of semen being imported in 1997. In the late

90s a group of Young Breeders from the

UK, (who are no longer young by the way)

went on a visit to Canada and were hugely

impressed with the Festival daughters at

the time.

10 Straws Cuthill Towers Barney Rubble

75% Ayrshire (Not eligible for export)

Barney Rubble is a privately owned sire so is

available exclusively for this sale only. He is by

De La Plaine Prime and out of the top priced

milking animal at the Haresfoot dispersal,

Haresfoot Jordan Barbara EX96 4E. His PTA

informs us of positive milk at +364kg and

+0.02 bfat. He has seven daughters classified

in the Willhome herd and they average 85.28

points. His daughters are open ribbed with

deep frames and good rumps, and they also

have silky udders and nice locomotion.

Black Magenta is a three star brood cow and her dam Magenta is a six star brood cow. If this mating sounds familiar, then no wonder! The resulting progeny will be full sister/brother to Rosehill Manderville, a sire from Cattle Services which is excelling in his production, components and type traits and has a huge PLI, also they will be maternal sister/brother to the highest production Ayrshire sire available from the UK, Rosehill Real McCoy. Maple Clover is a grand daughter of the great Sandyford Clover 10 EX97 7E LP100, the highest scored and arguably the most famous cow in our breed, and out of an EX94 Dam. Maple Clover has already twenty registered progeny, and from what she has already bred there is no doubt she will soon be a Star Brood cow. Her daughter, Marlow Clover 6, was the National Ayrshire Show Junior Champion in 2017. The sire of this mating needs no introduction, a favourite of many breeders and still able to compete with the young bulls of today. A full brother to the embryos is currently hard at work at Sandyford and has already some females in the barns at Charnwood Forest Farm.

From five generations of Excellent, 92 – 94 – 94 – 90 – 93, comes yet another cow who is already famous, Nellie 49 is the third highest PLI female in the breed with a PLI £491. She is a bull mother, dam of Whitecroft Dr Foster and the newcomer Whitecroft Nectar, maternal sister to Whitecroft Furtado and is the daughter of the wonderful Celandine First Lord daughter, Whitecroft Nellie 38. The production of this cow is superb averaging 8,154kg at 4.66bfat and 3.58ptn, and she has lost only three days in four lactations which indicates the fantastic fertility in this family. Rosehill Vitality is the sire and what a great cross this breeding offers you.

Each one will be prepared and shown to you prior to the sale for you to choose which one appeals to you to take home. There is a saying… “you wait ages for a bus and then two come along at the same time”! Many of you have been waiting for a Punch…...and here we have two of them and all you must do is bid last and choose the one you want. Both calves were born in May 2017 and both are by the popular sire Hilltown Oblique. The only difference is their dams, who are mother and daughter, Haresfoot Napier Punch EX94 4E and Gwynnog Dreamer Punch EX91. A potential fourth and fifth generation scored Excellent. Napier Punch is the Dam of the high potential young sire, Gwynogg Primetime and has wonderful production figures. Dreamer Punch only has two daughters so far, this and one other who is a VG86 two year old. There is no doubt that this is a valuable family who go on generation after generation!

This is a very special young calf, born February 2018, out of a very special family of consistent breeding animals with good production, super high components and wonderful type. The dam is Haresfoot Simply Red Pamela EX95 3E, who will be remembered for her All Breeds All Britain Championship as a calf in 2006 and her Supreme Interbreed Championship at the South West Dairy Show in 2010. Simply Red Pamela has two maternal sisters, Haresfoot Pamela 5 EX94 5E and Haresfoot Bomber Pamela EX92 3E allowing their dam to be a three star brood cow with only three registered progeny. The sire is Hunnington Mandella who is a favourite of many breeders all over the world. This calf will be special. Huge potential for the showring!

All lots will be sold in pounds sterling with three percent commission taken off the vendor’s full payment by the Ayrshire Cattle Society. Payment must be made in full to the Society within seven days of the invoice date.

It should be checked with each vendor whether the embryos are eligible for export prior to the sale. This is the responsibility of the purchaser.

All monies from the sale of the embryos will be held by the Society and paid to the vendors after the satisfactory transfer of them.

Insurance of the embryos is the responsibility of the purchaser from the point of receipt.

It is the responsibility of the purchaser for live animals to make transport arrangements with the vendor and cover all associated costs. Payment must be made in full to the Society within seven days of the invoice date.

Semen will be distributed at the first distribution opportunity after the date of the sale. Purchasers of embryos and semen may be liable for any packaging or distribution costs.

All lots will be sold in catalogue order.
