THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE Tennessee State had a tough preseason schedule and is looking for its first win of the 2018-19 campaign. TSU returns to the court aſter being away from acon for 12 days. The Lady Tigers are coming off a 90-51 road loss to Ball State on Dec. 21. Only playing once in the Gentry Center, 11 of TSU’s first 12 games of the season were away from the Lady Tigers’ home court. Sophomore Taylor Roberts leads TSU in scoring with 15.5 points per game while Tia Wooten is averaging 12.3 ppg. Terrysha Banner and Jaden Wrightsell each average 5.8 points per game, rounding out the top scorers. Wrightsell pulls down a team-best 7.1 rpg. As a team, TSU is averaging 58.7 ppg while shoong 32.2 percent from the field, includ- ing 22.4 percent from three-point range and 70.6 percent from the free-throw line. THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCETennessee State had a tough preseason schedule and is looking for its first win of the 2018-19 campaign. TSU returns to the court after being away from action for 12 days. The Lady Tigers are coming off a 90-51 road loss to Ball State on Dec. 21. Only playing once in the Gentry Center, 11 of TSU’s first 12 games of the season were away from the Lady Tigers’ home court.

} } ABOUT THE TEAM} Tennessee State, a member of the Ohio Valley Conference, is an NCAA Division I institution located in Nashville, Tenn.

} The Lady Tigers have eight returners and eight newcomers, in-cluding six freshmen and two transfers that sat out last season.

} Of the returners, redshirt senior Tia Wooten led the team in scoring with 21.2 points per game while sophomore Taylor Rob-erts scored 14.6 points per outing. Wooten (All-OVC First Team) and Roberts (All-OVC Newcomer Team) were named to the 2018 Preseason All-OVC Team after earning OVC accolades last sea-son.

} TSU went 6-21 last season and posted a 4-14 mark in OVC play. The Lady Tigers did not qualify for the OVC Tournament.

} Tia Wooten was a member of the 2014-15 TSU team that won OVC Tournament Championship and earned an NCAA berth for the first time in 20 years. She was a freshman on that team.

} TSU was predicted to finish the 2018-19 OVC race in 8th place in a poll voted on by the league head coaches and sports infor-mation directors.

} TSU has two redshirt seniors on the team in Tia Wooten and transfer Lauren Elliott.

} During non-conference action, TSU faced five teams that fin-ished last season with 18 or more wins and two that were ranked in the Top 20 at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

LAST TIME OUTTSU got off to a slow start and played from behind the entire game. Despite matching Ball State point-for-point in the fourth quarter, TSU dropped a, 90-51, decision on the road.

Freshman Jazmine Young led TSU in scoring and recorded double-digits for the second con-secutive game with 12 points. Sophomore Jaden Wrightsell just missed a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. Redshirt sophomore Cebria Outlow pulled down eight boards and had a game-high four steals in the contest.

ABOUT THE OPPONENTTennessee Tech went 8-3 during its non-conference slate. The Golden Eagles have won three straight and are coming off a deciding 100-58 victory over Tennessee Wesleyan on Dec. 29. TTU averages 69.7 points per game while shooting 40.1 percent from the field and 31.6 per-cent from three-point range. Jordan Brock leads TTU in scoring with 11.7 ppg while Kesha Brady (10.3 ppg) and Akia Harris (9.3 ppg) round out the top three scorers.

The Nashville native returned to her hometown after one semester and enrolled at TSU. Harris, who attended Ensworth HS, played two and a half minutes in her debut at Ball State.

} } GENTRY CENTER} The Gentry Center is a multi-purpose arena on the campus of Tennessee State University. The arena opened in 1980 and is home to the TSU basketball teams. The facility is named after Howard C. Gentry, Sr., who during a 27-year span, served as a prominent professor, coach and athletics director at TSU. The Gentry Center has a seating capacity of 9,100.
