SummaryStatementOncestudentshavemetthenecessaryadmissionrequirementsandhavebeenaccepted

intheschool,theschoolwarmlywelcomesthesestudentsforthecomingschoolyearandwillstrive toprovide themwitha solidCatholic spiritual andacademiceducation ina supportivelearningenvironment. Students andparentsmust alwaysbemindful that attendanceat theschool is by invitation. It is not a “right” because this is a private school. Studentsattendingtheschoolrelinquishcertainrightstheymightotherwisebeentitled

toiftheywereattendingapublicschool.Forexample,astudent’sfreedomofspeechislimitedinmanyimportantrespectshereatourschool.Speech,eitherwrittenororal,contrarytotheRomanCatholicfaith,theteachingsoftheChurchorthedirectivesofthelocalBishoporOrdinaryis prohibited, as is any other speech which is contrary or disruptive to the philosophy andpurposesofourschool. Anotherimportantrightallstudentsattheschoolsurrenderinvolvessearchesandseizures.Schooladministratorsmaysearchastudent’spersonandbelongingsifthere isa reasonablebelief, in thesoleopinionof theschooladministrator, thatcontraband,illegalsubstancesorinappropriateobjectsarebeingconcealed.Anyunauthorizeditemsfoundmaybeseized. Additionally,studentdesksandlockers,whichareatalltimesunderthejointcontroloftheschoolandthestudenttowhomthedeskor lockerhasbeenassigned,maybesearchedbyschooladministratorsatanytime,foranyreasonorfornoreasonatall.Studentsshouldhaveabsolutelynoexpectationofprivacywithregardtoanyitemintheirdesksorlockers.

Anotherimportantrightthatastudentandhisorherparentsorguardiansgiveupwhen

theydecidetohaveastudentattendthisschoolistherighttosuetheschool,theparish,theCatholic School Region Corporation, or the Archdiocese of New York, and/or any individualsactingonbehalfoftheschool,suchastheschooladministrators,teachers,stafforanyoftheiragents foranymatter relating toacademicordisciplinarydecisionsorothermatterscoveredwithinthishandbook.Eachstudentandhisorherparentsorguardians,bytheiracceptanceof
