THE LINDA BROWN FELLOWS AND STAR AWARDS

The Linda Brown Fellows and Star Awards annually recognize and reward exceptional teachers and classified (non-teaching) staff in the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District. In 2017–2018, six Linda Brown Fellows and three Star Award recipients were honored. Each recipient receives $1,000 for personal use. Additionally, Fellows recipients each receive a $2,000 grant for educational enhancement in their classroom.

HOW WE DO IT2017–2018Fundraising ProgramsExcellence in Education raises money through community partnerships. These partnerships have resulted in the success of our popular, long-standing fundraising programs: Dining for Schools, Golfing for Schools, and Skiing for Schools. Individual contributions are also welcomed through the TTUSD Payroll Deduction program and the Foundation’s Friends of Education donation program.

Additionally, Excellence in Education continues to grow its endowment fund. The fund balance was $2.7 million as of June 30, 2018.

Investing in EducationGrant monies support programs that are specifically designed to promote student interest in learning, to give students hands-on learning experiences, and to encourage quality academic performance.

Board Designated GrantsBoard designated grants are funded through the interest from the Foundation’s endowment fund. The Foundation’s policy is to annually spend up to 4% of the three-year trailing average investment balance. In 2017–2018, six board designated grants were funded for a total of $83,000.
