22 Length of Pathway Programs | Oregon State University 2017-18

Length of Pathway Programs4-Term PathwayOur new 4-term Pathway program is

designed specially for international students

who want to start earning credits toward

their bachelor's degree at a US university

while improving their English skills.

Available in fall, winter and summer terms

(depending on your major), this program offers

more focus on English language preparation

than our other Pathway programs. Students

are able to begin their academic studies with

domestic and other international students

sooner than our traditional Academic English

plus Pathway programs had allowed.

3-Term PathwayOur 3-Term Pathway program provides an

excellent balance of academic and English

language preparation. This is ideal for most

students and has start dates available in

fall, winter and spring terms (depending on

your major).

1-Term or 2-Term PathwayThis accelerated option is designed for

students who have good academic grades

and need little or no English preparation.

Students can begin this program during the

fall, winter and spring terms.

Sample Course ScheduleThe chart below is a sample course schedule for

the first term of the 4-Term Pathway program.

Additional course samples for subsequent

terms are on the following pages. The courses

listed in the following tables are examples and

are subject to change.

Regardless of your preferred Pathway

program, you will receive the support

you need to succeed. We promise that as

a successful Pathway student, you will

progress to your degree program once

you've met our progression requirements.

Those requirements are explained in each

academic grid on the following pages.

• May need to improve English language

skills and still earn credits toward their

degree program

• Desire additional academic, language

and cultural support in order to succeed

during the first year at a US university

• May not be eligible for direct entry

• May need additional preparation for

GMAT/GRE

and GMAT/GRE preparation

• Dedicated academic advisor and

progression advisor to help facilitate

transition to the university

• Pathway peer tutors available to provide

additional academic support

Pathway ProgramsCollege of Business - MBA

About the Program The OSU MBA program challenges students

with a rigorous and hands-on experience.

You'll be expected to collaborate with your

peers and work in teams on real-world

projects. You will experience working in

small classes and groups with students

Pathway program.

Integrated Business Project The OSU MBA supplements rigorous

classroom instruction with practical,

hands-on opportunities to learn by doing.

This model gives you both the knowledge

and the experience you need to lead in an

increasingly complex business environment.

You will work collaboratively in multi-cultural,

interdisciplinary teams and will have the

opportunity to complete an integrated

business project in your chosen field of study.

MBA Tracks The following specializations are available:

• Business Analytics

• Corporate Finance

• Innovation Management

• Market Research

• Research Thesis

• Supply Chain and Logistics Management

The Graduate Pathway for MBA is designed to provide the academic foundation for students wanting to pursue an MBA degree. The MBA Pathway and the MBA program combined will take two to three years to complete depending on course load and specialization options.

School SpiritYou will find that OSU is a relaxing place.

Students dress casually wearing orange and

black to show school spirit and pride in the

university.

Campus ActivitiesIt’s important for international students to

share their cultures, learn about US cultures

and participate in a wide variety of events.

The more you get involved, the more you

will improve your English and make friends.

You can participate in more than 300

student clubs.

Getting AroundIt’s easy to navigate Corvallis. Most OSU

students don’t own a car because it isn’t

necessary; everything is within easy walking

or biking distance. Owning a bicycle is

inexpensive, it keeps you active and you

will never have to worry about parking. You

also can ride the bus for free anywhere in

Corvallis. Life is very convenient here, so you

can focus on your studies.

What to Do for FunOSU students love to attend sporting

events like football games with their

friends. There are always concerts, lectures

and performances on campus and in the

go out to eat together at local restaurants,

or hang out with friends at their residence

hall or apartment. There are sidewalk cafes,

rooftop restaurants, parks, bike paths, coffee

shops, farmer’s markets and lots to explore.

ShoppingYou can explore the city of Portland, or shop

all day at the outlet mall, which has famous

brands at lower prices. There is no sales tax

in Oregon, so even other Americans come

here to shop.
