This cannot be written in words but are experienced only.” B.K.S. Iyengar April 7 – 9 Practice, Reflection & Devotion — the Key to Yoga* Dean Lerner with Special Guest Rebecca Lerner. Practice, reflection, devotion: These qualities are the core acts of yoga resulting in self transformation and evolution. In this weekend workshop, Dean will lead us on an exploration of this yogic path to perfection through the practice of asana and pranayama. On Sunday morning, Dean welcomes special guest, Rebecca Lerner who will co-teach this class only*. Join us for an exciting weekend of yoga in the tradition of BKS Iyengar that will inspire your practice and enlighten your understanding of the depth of Yoga. April 21 – 23 Level I/II Yoga Course Bobbie Fultz Currently based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Bobbie was the resident yoga teacher at AVG for 8 years. This weekend will cover asanas from the Preliminary Course of the Iyengar Method of Yoga. Previous experience needed for Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning classes. May 19 – 21 Expanding the Horizons of Individual Learning and Practice* Pranati Pratap Pranati has studied for over 30 years with the Iyengar family in Pune, India and has taught for over 20 years in NY and NJ. In this weekend workshop, she shares her deep understanding of asana and pranayama. Students will explore the purpose and execution of asanas and apply that understanding to the practice of pranayama. June 9 – 11 Iyengar Yoga Retreat* Rebecca Hooper An exploration through the kosas (layers of being ) towards the infinite being. This weekend retreat is appropriate for those with at least 1 year of experience with Iyengar yoga. June 22 – 25 Summer Solstice* Janet McLeod & Patricia Layton In this four-day workshop eclipsed by the solstice, Janet’s skillful sequencing and use of props will help you reach new levels of awareness in your practice. Guest teacher Patricia Layton will lead Sutra chanting. Special evening sessions will include singing bowls and Thai walking massage. September 6 – 13 Yoga and Sound: Intermediate & Advanced Training Ramanand Patel, Mukesh Desai Absorption into sound while in yoga poses enables the breath to flow more freely, bringing inner peace that leads the aspirant to merge with the formless. Discourses in Vedanta bring a deeper understanding of the Self. October 13 – 15 Level I/II Yoga Course Bobbie Fultz See details at left. VenueArsha Vidya means “Knowledge of the Rishis” Founded by Swami Dayananda Saraswati in 1986, Arsha Vidya Gurukulam is a unique facility in the West dedicated to the traditional teaching of Vedanta and Sanskrit. The ashram is located on 68 wooded acres in the Pocono Mountains. Facilities include a lecture hall connected to a traditional Hindu temple, a fully equipped yoga studio, residential housing, and a dining hall where vegetarian Indian meals are served. Our extensive bookstore and gift shop offer AVG publications, and recorded teachings, and a comprehensive selection of Indian publications as well as Western titles.
