  • 2017 Study DayDelivering Educational SPACESFriday 23rd June 2017 Manchester School of Architecture

After last years extremely successful sell out event, the study day is continuing with the popular theme of Education where will be examining how best to successfully deliver and maintain school buildings with challenging programmes and budgets but without compromising quality, maintenance and the environment.

The study day is designed to have a wide appeal by stimulating debate, sharing experiences and lessons learned and give the opportunity to make new networks. It is very much a ‘nuts-and-bolts, hands-on’ event with the emphasis on real experiences and lessons learned.

With ticket numbers limited to 150, the event remains informal and small enough in size to meet other delegates and speakers but is likely to sell out fast.

The Study Day will be held at the Manchester School of Architecture on Friday 23rd June 2017.

The day will be opened by the SPACES President, Martin Kent, and our host for the day, Professor Tom Jefferies, Head of Manchester School of Architecture. As part of the morning sessions there will be a debate on BIM and what is really happening.

The day will be interspersed with workshops allowing delegates to tailor the day to their requirements. So far we have confirmation of workshops from:• Output specifications and technical annexes,

Ann Bodkin, ESFA• Lessons learnt from central delivery and the PSBP

programmes, Phil Slater and Jackie Lowe, ESFA• Condition Date Collection (CDC) Programme,

Jake Wood, ESFA • BB101 – Ventilation in school buildings,

    Richard Daniels, ESFA

    • BB100 - Fire safety design for schools,Chris Bissell, ESFA

    • Designing for autism, Colum Lowe, Design Council• Benchmarking, Steve Clow, Hampshire County Council• The Australian study - environmental factors,

Shane Cryer, Ecophon• Next generation technology in construction,

Michael Lacey, SPACES• Challenges of delivering SEN schools, Pick Everard• Offsite - Lime Tree Primary Academy, Atkins • DFM/LEAN, MACE• How technology can help the industry deliver more

effectively in our rapidly changing world, Ed Bartlett, Kykloud and Anthony Walker, Trident.

On Thursday 22nd June, there will be a tour of key local building. The tour will start at 2.15pm

In the evening, there will be the ever-popular informal dinner at the Whitworth Art Gallery where around 60 delegates and speakers can network in a relaxed environment.
