STUDENTLEARNINGOUTCOMES:ThiscourseprovidesanoverviewofchurchplantinginNorthAmerica.Studentswillexaminethetaskofchurchplantingfromvisiontolaunchandbechallengedto:

1)Developatheologyofchurchplanting

2)Examinetheessentialqualitiesandcharacteristicsofaneffectivechurchplanter

3)Learnprinciplesandstrategiesneededforstartingchurches

4)Interactwithsomeoftheresourcesavailabletochurchplanters

2. Eachstudentwillberequiredtointerviewachurchplanterinthefirst5years

ofplanting.Asecondpapermustbewrittenwithsummaryandpersonalreflection.

3. CLASSROOMPARTICIPATION—(20%ofcoursegrade)Studentsareexpectedtocometoeachclasshavingreadtheassignedreadingsandpreparedtotakepartindiscussion.TextbooksandBibleshouldbebroughttoclass.Thecoursewillincludeatleast24hoursofclassroominstruction.

4. QUIZZES—(30%ofcoursegrade)Cometoeachclasspreparedtobequizzedoverthepreviousclass’lecturesandassignments.Thehighest5scoreswillbeaveraged.

5. CLASSPROJECT—(30%ofcoursegrade)Eachstudentwillengageinatleast5gospelconversationsandwriteadetailed10-pagepaperontherelationshipbetweenevangelismand churchplantingandthoseencounters.

Thestudentisexpectedtospendaminimumof2hoursperweekcompletingworkoutsideofclassforevery1credithourofthisclass.Therequirements(i.e.,reading,writing,evangelism,etc.)ofthisclassareplannedaccordingtothisexpectation.

GRADING:A = 95-100B = 87-94C = 77-86D = 70-76F = 0-69(1) Thestudentisexpectedtospendnolessthan2hoursofout-of-classworkpercredithourinthisclass.(2) Thissyllabusismeanttoaccuratelyreflectallexpectationsandassignmentsforthiscourse. However,theprofessorreservestherighttoadjustthesyllabusathisdiscretion.(3) Cheatingorplagiarismofanykindwillresultinanimmediatefailinggradeontheassignmentwithnochanceforresubmission.Theprofessordoeshavetheoptioneithertoallowthestudenttoremaininandcompletethecourseortodismissthestudentfromthecoursecompletely.
