The “Father of the Symphony,” Haydn was born in 1732, exactly 200 years before the RSO was founded. Given this happy coincidence, I thought it would be a wonderful long-range goal for the Orchestra to play all of the Haydn symphonies, starting with No. 85 through our shared centennial and beyond. In addition to the symphonic works, our Masterworks Concerts will also include concerti, chamber, opera and choral works. I have often felt that the works of Haydn are underrepresented in today’s concert halls. This project will put the Racine Symphony Orchestra on the vanguard of cultural organizations who will, no doubt, celebrate the tricentennial with much fanfare in 2032.” - Artistic Director and Conductor Pasquale Laurino
