Welcome from the Annual Conference Planning ChairThe PRISM International Annual Conference is well known as a must-attend forum for those in the records and information management (RIM) industry to come together to exchange ideas and openly discuss a wide variety of cutting-edge topics. The 2017 PRISM International Annual Conference will deliver on this reputation and promise of excellence. The PRISM International Annual Conference Planning Task Group has put together an amazing program aimed at adding value to your business.

By design, a prominent theme in the lineup of educational sessions is creative new strategies for expanding, selling, and managing product and service offerings. We offer several opportunities for examining this issue, including roundtable dis-cussions, networking opportunities, and innovative presentations. Chief among these offerings are the new high-energy, high-yield PRISM “Ignite” sessions, which were introduced at the 2016 conference and have been expanded in response to their overwhelming success. Many other critical trends and issues affecting the records and information man-agement industry also are addressed in this year’s schedule, making it a comprehensive, must-attend event.

Notable new features to the schedule that highlight the theme of growing your business are exciting new precon-ference and postconference sessions. Interested in doing a better job selling ECM/Capture? Attend the AIIM Preconfer-ence Session. Interested in getting your CRM? Attend the ICRM Prep Postconference Workshop. Interested in learning more about and obtaining your certificate in data management? Attend the Data Management Institute postconference session. In addition to the sessions, there are many planned opportunities to network, such as the Last Roundup Party Thursday and the Pre-Roundup Reception and prize drawing. As if that were not enough, the conference is taking place at an absolutely amazing venue in Tucson, AZ. The resort provides many beautiful opportunities for business, pleasure, and impromptu networking.

With all of these features, the 2017 PRISM International Annual Conference is sure to provide you with tools and information to grow your business and an experience you’ll enjoy and remember. I hope to see you there!

Welcome from the PresidentIt is my honor as president of PRISM International to invite you to join us for our 2017 International Annual Conference. The conference this year will be held at the beautiful Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, AZ. Our International Annual Conference always provides a wonderful opportunity to meet and learn from the greatest ingenious and pioneering minds in the RIM industry.

Our industry continues to be in the midst of significant change. Mergers and acquisitions continue to impact the competitive landscape. I applaud our Annual Conference Planning Task Group for building a robust program that delivers education addressing relevant issues affecting our industry. The task group heard your feedback loud and clear and has shaped a program that balances more time for networking with the delivery of stellar education.

We will continue to feature the latest and greatest products and services offered by our corporate partners, along with exciting networking events in our Exhibit Hall. This year’s program also offers more of the popular “Ignite” sessions as well as a new opportunity for a preview Exhibitor Learning Trail in the Exhibit Hall. Prior to closing the conference with our Last Roundup Party on Wednesday evening, we will spend time with exhibitors during a reception that will in-clude even more networking with the most creative, innovative people in the industry.

I’m sure you’ll want to review this brochure closely—there’s a lot happening and you won’t want to miss any of the excitement that this year’s conference offers. Conference Highlights• You will walk away with new ideas for generating revenue. Paper document storage still is producing tremendous revenue. Is

that enough anymore?

• You will have many opportunities to network with the smartest people in the industry. Dale Carnegie once said that you can make more friends in 2 months by becoming interested in other people than you can in 2 years by trying to get other people interested in you. There will be very smart people at this conference—listen and learn from them.

• You will have many opportunities to expand your thinking. Attend the AIIM Preconference Session and learn how to sell ECM/Capture. Attend the ICRM Prep Workshop and work toward becoming certified. Attend the Data Management Institute ses-sion and explore next generation data management strategy. What are you curious about?

• This conference will not be boring. Back by popular demand are the high-energy, high-yield PRISM “Ignite” sessions. In fact, we were so inspired last year that we’ve doubled the number of PRISM “Ignite” sessions. Inspire us, but make it quick!

• The award-winning Loews Ventana Canyon Resort, set against the foothills of the beautiful Santa Catalina Mountains, is beau-tiful, relaxing, and perfect for your conference. Enjoy evening stargazing with an onsite telescope, 24-hour room service, and private balconies in every room. Golf onsite at one of the two Tom Fazio–designed courses and rejuvenate in the world-class spa. Are you here for business or pleasure? Why do you have to choose?

• You will benefit from a community of innovative leaders. Meet, greet, and learn why this conference has been called “10 years of learning in 3 days.”

• You told us you were done with boring conference dinners, and we are happy to oblige by bringing you a fun networking opportunity and barbecue buffet under the stars with the PRISM Pre-Roundup Reception and Last Roundup Party.

• The exhibits are full of innovative products, solutions, and people. Many attendees believe entrance to the exhibits alone is worth the price of admission. Learn more from the best corporate partners in the industry about how you will be doing busi-ness in 2017 and beyond.

PRISM International Thanks Our 2017 Annual Conference Sponsors

We have drastically lowered the price of attendance for the third and fourth members of your team. The new lower rates for third and fourth employees are $400 per member for early registration and $450 per member for regular registration. Send the whole team and spread the wealth of knowledge!

PRECONFERENCE & POSTCONFERENCE

6

Preconference Session InformationMonday, May 8, 8:30 am–5 pm(OE2) AIIM Preconference Workshop: How to Sell Capture/ECM/BPM to Business LeadersAtle Skjekkeland, Senior Vice President, ECMs, AIIM EuropeMember: $395 USD; Nonmember: $445 USD

The growth in IT spending is coming from businesses buying IT, not IT staff buying IT. Seventy-five percent of business leaders want to meet with sales staff that can provide them with new business insights. They want to learn about the business benefits, not the technology. What stops sales staff from meeting their sales targets, according to AIIM research, is the inability to 1) iden-tify and qualify new prospects (24%) and 2) establish a business case for change (36%). It’s not about having too many products to know (7%) or poor sales skills (5%). AIIM has researched best practices for selling solutions among 250-plus solution providers. We also asked 300-plus technology buyers about their priorities and preferences.

The objective of this training course is to grow your Capture, ECM, and BPM sales by educating your sales force and business consultants about how to best identify and engage business leaders for selling solutions. Attendees of this session will learn to• identify more opportunities for selling solutions

• engage stakeholders and demonstrate business benefits

• establish a solid business case for buying your solution

• grow your solution business.

The training course was updated for 2017 and includes the latest buyer research from AIIM’s 193,000 community members as well as nonpublic research from finance, accounting, procurement, and HR professionals.

Postconference Session InformationThursday, May 11, 8 am–5 pm(OE3) ICRM Exam Prep Postconference WorkshopBlake Richardson, CIP CRM, Manager of Records, Safeway; Andrew Ysasi, CRM, Executive Director, Kent Record ManagementMember: $160 USD; Nonmember: $180 USD

Have you considered, or are you actively planning to pursue, a formal certification in the field of records and information man-agement (RIM)? Do you want to enhance your professional cre-dentials and experience as you consider or continue your career in this important discipline? With an unprecedented amount of change affecting the entire world of RIM, there is no better time to consider a formal professional certification in this space.

The Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM) has con-ferred the Certified Records Manager (CRM) designation since 1975. This is the premier standard for designating the most knowledgeable RIM professionals. On September 24, 2016, the ICRM announced its newest credential, the Certified Records Analyst (CRA). A CRA candidate must pass Parts 2–4 to achieve this certification (see below).

Attaining ICRM certification is based on educational back-ground, professional work experience, and successful comple-tion of Parts 1–6 for the CRM and Parts 2–4 for the CRA:• Part 1—Management Principles and the RIM Program• Part 2—Records and Information, Creation, and Use• Part 3—Records Systems, Storage, Conversion, and Facilities• Part 4—Records Appraisal, Retention, Protection, and

Disposition• Part 5—Technology• Part 6—Business Case

There is no better way to prepare for the ICRM certification process than to attend this preconference session designed to equip you with the knowledge, tools, and strategies for pass-ing this rigorous examination.

Thursday, May 11, 8:30–5 pm (OE4) DMI Postconference Workshop: Building a Cognitive Data Management PracticeJon W. Toigo, Managing Principal Partner of Toigo Partners and Chairman of the Data Management InstituteThis workshop is complimentary to all registered attendees of the conference. However, space is limited so please register to save your seat.

By 2020, with between 10 to 60 zettabytes of new data finding their way into stor-age infrastructure, the key

challenge confronting IT organizations, whether corporate or cloud based, will be that of finding enough space to store data cost effectively. Data storage technology acquisitions already account for up to 70% of IT hardware budgets, and with mounting interest in amassing data from the Internet of Things and mining data for their business value, the need to provision hosting resources efficiently and to ensure that data receives the right combination of protection, preservation, and privacy services are front of mind issues for IT planners. Needed is a strategy that combines a data management policy framework, storage services management, and storage resources management processes, and the latest cognitive computing techniques to provide a new order of data accessi-bility, performance, and control.

In this workshop, join Jon W. Toigo, chairman of the Data Management Institute, and industry thought leaders as we ex-plore and outline a next generation data management strat-egy. Toigo will define an architectural model and expert industry speakers will discuss some of the most promising technologies for solving the data management burgeon be-fore it reaches crisis proportions in your shop. Attendees will receive the Data Management Institute’s Certified Data Man-agement Professional (CDMP) certificate.

FEATURED SPEAKERS

Keynote Speaker First Sergeant Matt Eversmann (Ret.), hero of the Battle of Mogadishu

A true American hero, First Sergeant Matt Eversmann illustrates the importance of lead-ership, courage, and selfless service to succeed

when ordinary circumstances become extraordinary challenges.

As an Army Ranger deployed to Somalia in 1993, Matt experienced the horrors of war when he and his fellow sol-diers were trapped in a hostile district of Mogadishu and marked for death by an angry mob. His inspiring story of sur-vival was immortalized in the epic film “Black Hawk Down,” which recounts the harrowing experience.

Committed to sharing the lessons he learned in the military, Matt draws parallels from his experiences to highlight the importance of leadership, courage, and responsibility within any team or organization. Unambiguously humble, gracious, and warm, his powerful story and straightforward insights on instilling these values stay with business leaders long after the applause has ended.

Keynote Speaker Tom Adams, CEO of Flourish Press

Tom Adams is an executive coach who advises business owners and executives to help them flourish in their businesses and lives.

His experiences as a business owner, entrepreneur, church minister, motivational speaker, television producer and host, podcaster, and writer provide him with a wealth of knowledge to draw from. Tom also is the CEO of Flourish Press, a bou-tique publishing firm and the founder of WebVitality, an elite web marketing company. Tom’s first book, You Are the Logo, was an Amazon bestseller.
