MEDIA CONTACTS

Distinguished members of the press, welcome to the 31st anniversary of Hot August Nights! Hot August Nights has been mesmerizing individuals with the beauty of vintage automobiles and rock ‘n’ roll since 1986. With its Show-n-Shines and evening slow cruises, we work hard to keep iconic traditions vibrant while still focusing on our even brighter future. We strive to bring new and exhilarating events and entertainment to the hundreds of thousands of attendees that allow for northern Nevada to be lit by headlights for a 10 day event.

We welcome all of our fans to enjoy some new exhilarating events! We couldn’t just stop at classic automobiles. This year we are welcoming vintage trailers from 1976 or older to dry camp for the entirety of the event and be apart of Sunday’s Grand Finale Parade.

Do not miss out on our impressive headliners! Rock out to “Jessie’s Girl” when Rick Springfield hits the stage Friday night. Following, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts will captivate their audience with some good ol’ rock ‘n roll on Saturday night. The adrenaline will not stop there. We are excited to team up again with Motorsport Auction Group to present the three-day auction and automotive expo. Whether you’re interested in participating in the auction or sitting in the stands, it is a must-see for all attendees!

Due to the overwhelming support the AutoCross & Drifting received last year, we’re bringing it back for our fans! Whether you are a novice or an expert auto-crosser, take a shot at our course as you go through a series of cones in hopes of beating your last time. If you want to add to the excitement, watch Pro Drifters use their wide range of skills to maneuver from turn to turn.

We look forward to seeing you at our event and would like to thank you in advance for sharing with your audience.

Sincerely,

Mike WhanExecutive Director, Hot August Nights

The Biggest Little City shifts into high gear for Hot August Nights, when hundreds of thousands come to pay tribute to the exquisitely powerful automobiles and electric-guitars lacing music of the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s—a combination so classic it may as well come with a poodle skirt and strawberry malt to share with your sweetheart.

It’s impossible to miss the white-walled tires, fins, flares and chrome accents cruising the streets or parked, ready to be admired at Show-n-Shines, nightly cruises, the prestigious Hot August Nights Cup presented by Downtown Reno, Drag Races & Burnouts, AutoCross & Drifting presented by AMSOIL, the Hot August Nights Auction presented by Motorsport Auction Group, free concerts and many other community-wide events.

Visitors from all over the world and locals alike thrill at the sight of these beautiful beasts revving up, racing and high rollin’ about town. From the Big Boy’s Toy Store—a massive event where enthusiasts can find the latest parts, accessories, and technology for their street rods, hot rods and muscle cars—to the largest cash prize purse Show-n-Shine’s in the world totaling 13 different venues with more than $150,000 in cash and prizes for the taking, including the Hot August Nights Cup presented by Downtown Reno, a prestigious Show-n-Shine classic car competition with over $100,000 alone in cash and prizes available—it’s a motorhead’s dream.

Nothing goes with classic rods better than classic rock ‘n’ roll. Rock the night away to the unforgettable lineup of musical headliners and tribute bands performing for free from Aug. 8-12, 2017. Musical legends Rick Springfield and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts headline the weeklong celebration on Friday, Aug. 11 and Saturday, Aug. 12 from Grand Sierra Resort and Casino’s outdoor stage. These events and many others are free, open to the public and not to be missed.
