Hotel in Ostuni · Meals: B, D

Our suggestion:- Discover the Tremiti Islands, a beautiful archipelago of small islands, 40 km off the Gargano Peninsula. A charming sight of rough cliffs, sandy beaches and thick pine woods, surrounded by the pristine Adriatic sea.

The Sigurta’ Park - Veneto

The park, which belongs to among the most beautiful in Europe and spans over an area of 50 ha. It was created by Count Carl Sigurta’. Through irrigation with wa-ter from the Mincio, within 40 years the formerly dry land was transformed into a green oasis. The park has only been open to visitors since 1978, and today the entrance fee partially finances its upkeep. The great, wide open spaces, the gorgeous colors of the flowers and blossoms and the shimmering water make it a paradise un-der the open sky.

Ninfa - Rome, Lazio

Italy’s arguably most romantic garden aro-se amongst the ruins of a walled medie-val city, which was abandoned in the 14th century and unearthed about 100 years ago. The ruins of houses, churched, work-shops and the fortress appear comple-tely overgrown with roses and other fra-grant plants. Countless small creeks and canals flow through the garden, so that running water can either be seen or heard all across the grounds. The garden of Nin-fa was allowed to develop spontaneous-ly amidst the medieval ruins without fol-lowing a formal plan. There are no labels on the plants, no statues or artefacts from the dream like atmosphere. This garden is unique, once an abandoned medieval city, now conquered by beautiful plants.

Heller Garden - Lake Garda

This garden offer colorful spectacle of art and nature: palm trees, orchids, trick, fountains, and statues from India and Morocco, which rest in the therapeutic shadows of the southern vegetation and radiate meditative relaxation.

Villa Taranto - Lake Maggiore

This beautiful garden was designed by the Scottish captain McEachern in 1931 and spans an area of ca. 16 hectares. Strewn between the terraces, ponds, fountains and waterfalls is a wonderful botanical garden with more than 200 different va-rieties of plants, which yield a wonder-ful display of lavish blooms from spring to autumn.

Top ten Gardens of Italy

The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle · South Tyrol

On these 12 hectares, visitors can embark on a botanical world tour. The mild climate and the sun-drenched spa town of Merano make it possible. Here, an harmonious en-semble of lush vegetation, magical scenic overlooks, bright colors, Mediterranean cli-mate and the mountain world of Merano await visitors, all of which combined make a visit to the gardens an unforgettable ex-perience.

Castello Ruspoli In Vignanello · Viterbo - Rome, Lazio

The ruling element of this Baroque gar-den are its geometric shapes. Hedges, flo-wer beds, rows of trees, ponds, lawns and avenues all follow a formal design. The his-torical garden, which belong to the castel-lo, is also very impressive.

Villa Lante - Bagnaia - Rome, Lazio

These fascinating terrace gardens are an example of the symbiosis between a na-tural and cultivated landscape, of forest and garden. The balanced location on a slope created a natural terracing, which is ideally suited for a stroll.

Giusti Garden - Veneto

Goethe was not alone over this garden. Featuring lawns, fountains, statues, laby-rinths and belvederes, it offers a magni-ficent view of the city of Verona and the broad plains that continue until the Apen-nines.

The Landriana Gardens - Rome, Lazio

Marchesa Lavinia Taverna began planting this garden in the 50s. Later she hired the English landscape architect Russel Page, who began systematically designing the garden in 1967. What makes this garden unique is that it is divided into many dif-ferent “rooms”, each with its own special assortment of plants.

The Kolymbetra Garden - Sicily

This garden is considered an archaeolo-gical and agriculture gem. When the FAI acquired the grounds it breathed new life into Kolymbetra. Today, on the 5 hectares of gardens at the edge of the temple of Castor and Pollux, visitors can once again admire magnificent oranges trees, flowe-ring prickly pears and numerous other herbs and flowers.

Day 1: Arrive in Rome - Orvieto Arrival at Rome Airport and transfer to the hotel in Orvieto. Check-in, welcome drink and the rest of day at leisure. Dinner and overnight.Hotel in Orvieto · Meals: D

Day 2: Orvieto and Assisi We start off our day in the hilltop town of Orvieto, where history hangs over the cobbles streets, beautiful piazzas and im-pressive churches. Orvieto’s top sight and one of the most extraordinary examples of Italian Gothic architecture, is the striking Cathedral with its magnificent exterior mosaic decorations. Its history is strongly connected to Eucharistic miracle and the Blood Stained Stones. We then travel to Assisi, birthplace of St. Francis whose spi-rit can be felt in this saintly place. Inside the spectacular Basilica of St. Francis, we will see his tomb and admire the fresco-es by famous artists such as Giotto and Ci-mabue. We also visit the church that ho-nors St. Clare, the foundress of the Poor Clare Sisters.Hotel in Assisi · Meals: B, D

Day 3: Assisi, Macerata and Loreto We make our way to the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels with its beautiful rose garden, the Porziuncola, a tiny church where St. Francis founded his order and the Capella del Transito, which is the pla-ce of his death. We then depart for Loreto with a stop in Macerata to enter the Shrine of Our Lady of Mercy, where an Eucharistic miracle happened in the 14th century: a priest torn by the doubt that Christ was re-

ally present in the Eucharist, saw the host bleed in the chalice.Hotel in Loreto · Meals: B, D

Day 4: Loreto - Lanciano - San Giovanni Rotondo Loreto is one of the most important pilgri-mage sites in Italy. Tradition says that an-gels moved here the house that had been the Holy Family’s home in Nazareth. We will have the opportunity to pray in the Sanctuary of the Holy House. We then tra-vel to Lanciano where the host turned into flesh and the wine into blood. In the after-noon we will reach San Giovanni Rotondo, home of Padre Pio.Hotel in San Giovanni Rotondo · Meals: B, D

Day 5: San Giovanni Rotondo and Monte Sant’Angelo Today we will gain an insight of the life and miracles of the Franciscan Padre Pio da Pietralcina. During our visit of the Mo-nastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie, where Padre Pio lived, the Franciscan friars will teach us about his life. We will then make our way to Monte Sant‘Angelo, one of the most ancient Christian shrines, dedicated to the archangel Michael who appeared here in the 5th and 8th centuries. Return to San Giovanni Rotondo. Hotel in San Giovanni Rotondo · Meals: B, D

Day 6: San Giovanni Rotondo, Monte Cas-sino and Rome We begin today’s journey to Rome via Monte Cassino for a guided tour of the Be-nedictine Abbey. The abbey was founded by Saint Benedict of Norcia in the 6th cen-
