February CFB Director Eric Clinton hosts the webinar entitled “Embracing the ‘S’ word: Succession Planning and Next Generation”.
March Dr. Eric Clinton speaks about family businesses at Post Davos Conference, in association with the World Economic Forum, in Stockholm, Sweden.
March The CFB hosts its Annual Family Business Conference with keynote speakers, Paul Darley, and his daughter Audrey Darley, of W.S Darley & Co., Chicago. 150 guests are in attendance.
May The CFB and LTI co-hosted Women in Family Business & Leadership event takes place. Keynotes by Caroline Keeling (Keelings Group); Stephanie Manahan (Central Remedial Clinic) and Bríd Horan (former Deputy CEO of ESB).
May Succession in Family Business workshop takes place in PwC offices. Family business expert, Prof. Justin Craig, Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, facilitates discussion with co-CEO of Glennon Brothers, Mike Glennon.
June Prof. Maura McAdam delivers talk on long-term thinking in family businesses at the Annual Institute for Family Business conference in the UK.
July Centre for Family Business scholar, Catherine Faherty, represents Dublin City University at the prestigious Northeastern University (NEU) Postgraduate Summer School in Shenyang, China.
September CFB research scholar, Philip O’Donnell, receives Best Doctoral Paper Award at the Irish Academy of Management Conference 2017. His research looks at entrepreneurship in Nairobi slums in Kenya.
September The second Succession in Family Business workshop takes place in Cork with keynote speakers, Patrick Buckley of EPS and Rachel Healy of Healy’s Bakery.
