AgSafe Audits Voluntary Human Resources, Worker Safety and Food Safety AuditsAgSafe conducts voluntary human resources, worker safety, and food safety audits. Each is designed to provide employers with valuable insight into the overall effectives, as well as compliance, of their human resources, worker safety and food safety programs. A company may choose from two different audit formats:

Food Safety Audits

Written Program Review – An organization’s written human resources, worker safety and/or food safety programs are reviewed. A company may have one, two or all their programs reviewed. The written program review will include communication, both by phone and in writing, of observations found and recommendations. Written Program Review and Onsite Evaluations – In addition to the review of an organization’s human resources, worker safety and/or food safety program documents, AgSafe will perform an onsite evaluation including employee interviews. In a human resources audit, this can include a review of all current employees’ I-9s as well as reviewing other documents. The worker safety and/or food safety program audit can include a walk-through hazard assessment of all facilities and equipment with photographic documentation. Both types of audits include a follow-up written report noting observations made, recommendations for changes the company may consider and any applicable supporting documents, such as samples and templates. The scope of each audit is customized with each company and based on their individual needs. Audit costs vary depending on a variety of factors including audit type, company size, travel and AgSafe membership status.

Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for Your Farm A voluntary audit that verifies that fruits and vegetables are produced, packed, handled, and stored in a manner that reduces the risks of microbial food safety hazards. GAP audits verify adherence to the recommendations made in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. These audits are designed to provide producers with valuable insight into the effectiveness of their food safety programs.

Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for Your Processing Facility or Packing ShedA voluntary audit that verifies that fruits and vegetables are produced, packed, handled, and stored in a manner that reduces the risks of microbial food safety hazards. GMP audits verify adherence to the recommendations made in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. These audits are designed to provide producers with valuable insight into the effectiveness of their food safety programs. Written Program Review (Desk Audit) – Includes a review of an organization’s written food safety plan, policies, procedures, written documents and records including monitoring records from the food safety plan.

On Site Audit – Will include a walk-through of your operation and can include a hazard analysis of your operation and commodity. On site audits include a trace back exercise (mock recall) for validation of your recall policy.

All audits will include a follow-up written report including pictures and notes of observations made, recommendations for changes the company may consider and any applicable supporting documents, such as samples and templates. The scope of the audit is customized with each company and based on their individual needs. Audit costs vary depending on a variety of factors including audit type, company size, and travel and AgSafe membership status.
