Successfully operating in the powerline industry since January 2000, Gremalco Pty Ltd has established a reputation as a leading electrical infrastructure construction and maintenance service provider in the Sydney metropolitan and regional areas of New South Wales.

Gremalco specialises in the construction of overhead and underground networks up to 132kV and optical ground wire (OPGW) installation, splicing and testing.

We have the ability to successfully deliver complex projects by understanding our clients’ objectives and delivering on those objectives by professional project management. Robust, project specific risk assessments ensure that each program of works and/or projects time, safety, quality and environmental outcomes are identified and managed throughout the delivery period.

Paul Gallo - Managing Director

Since Paul joined Gremalco as Managing Director in June 2011, he has led the company through a controlled growth period establishing Gremalco as a powerline contractor of choice with Endeavour and Essential Energy. With over 20 years of construction industry experience Paul brings to Gremalco strategic planning, strong leadership, uncompromising commitment to safety and a history of successfully delivering large projects.

Paul previously held General Manager roles at Transfield and John Holland where he oversaw the delivery of a number of high profile projects but particularly the Powerlink Transmission Line Alliance and Transgrid’s Communications Upgrade and Replacement Program (CUARP).

Paul has transitioned Gremalco from a small overhead powerline ASP to a Principal Contractor on Endeavour Energy and Essential Energy major projects. Strategically he has been instrumental in securing long term panel contracts with both Endeavour Energy and Essential Energy that will ensure business sustainability in the coming years.

Sam Masri - Operations Manager

Sam joined Gremalco from Zinfra / CLM in May 2103. He is a self motivated Operations Manager that sets high standards for himself and his team. His strong team leadership, attention to detail and uncompromising commitment to safety on all Gremalco projects ensure that our clients are continually satisfied with project delivery.

Previous roles with John Holland, Leighton, CLM and Zinfra have provided Sam with a thorough understanding of the project management framework required to deliver successful projects.

Sam has been pivotal in rolling out the Gremalco developed project planning tools and is also successfully delivering the Gremalco cultural change program to optimise team performance.

Allan Beydoun - Project Manager

Allan came to Gremalco from UEA in July 2015 as an industry respected business development and project manager. Combining his construction and electrical experience Allan has always delivered projects to the highest standards and to our customers satisfaction.

Allan has been involved in a number of significant Endeavour Energy programs and projects including the 1443 Capital Program Distribution Panel ($26m), Guildford 132kV-11kV substation ($12m) and RMS asset relocations ($11.7m).

Allan is currently leading the delivery of the 7360/14C Endeavour Energy Capital Program Panel ($7m per annum).

Martin Cantwell - Project Manager

Martin is the newest addition to the Gremalco team joining in August 2016. He brings a wealth of experience in the overhead transmission line business gained from his time with Transfield, Downer and Abengoa.

His technical knowledge and project management skills in 132kV - 500kV transmission line and OPGW projects are highly respected within the industry and are essential in the successful delivery of these projects.

Previous projects include the Transgrid / Glendora 330kV deviation, Magnoola 500kV deviation and Tomago to Stroud 132kV, Martin is currently delivering the RMS Bringelly Rd asset relocation project ($8m).

Mina Mikhail - Senior Estimator

Mina joined Gremalco in April 2013 from Zinfra, being part of the acquired CLM business. Mina’s experience has been instrumental in securing projects for Gremalco’s underground electrical business

Under the guidance of the Gremalco commercial team Mina has also become proficient at quoting overhead distribution and sub-transmission projects. Having access to internal productivity data Mina has developed considerable skill in first principal pricing for both overhead and underground electrical projects.

Helal Masri - Project Engineer

Helal joined Gremalco in July 2014 as a Junior Engineer and as a result of his hard work and success was promoted to Project Engineer on our RMS Richmond Rd and now RMS Bringelly Rd RMS assets relocation projects.

Working very close with both the overhead and underground supervisors and reporting to the project manager, Helal is responsible for the day to day productivity of the crews and ensuring all Project Management Plan site documentation is being implemented.

Kaman Ramley - Project Engineer

Having spent 5 years at Preformed Line Products (PLP) in a leading engineers role Kaman has decided on a career path change to construction project delivery by joining Gremalco in 2016.

His technical knowledge in powerline fittings is exceptional. He implemented rationalisation of parts to reduce time and cost of manufacturing in the general PLP business and supplied engineering support for the successful PLP Powerlink tender.

Kaman has spent time under Allan Beydoun on the Endeavour Energy 7360/14 contract on a number of diverse work packets and has now got an opportunity on the Essential Energy Forster to Taree 66kV project commencing April 2017.

Matt Benson - Overhead Supervisor

Matt’s authorisation in the electricity supply industry includes both Accredited Service Provider (ASP) Level 1 and Level 2.

Matt commenced with Gremalco in 2009 as a qualified electrician and enrolled immediately in a Linesman apprenticeship. From that point on he has taken every opportunity and challenge in his stride and has become our most senior overhead supervisor.

Matt has successfully delivered multiple OPGW, sub-transmission and RMS assets relocation projects. His recent effort on the Essential Energy Orange 66kV upgrade earned him significant acknowledgement from Gremalco and the Essential Energy project team.

Graham Logie - Overhead Supervisor

Graham has had extensive experience constructing sub-transmission powerlines up to 132kV in Scotland, Northern Ireland and for the last 3 years in Australia.

At Gremalco he was promoted to Supervisor after showing leadership qualities on the Oran Park 132kV project. Graham in now supervising the Horningsea Park 132kV project.

Graham is responsible for planning his works using daily crew sheets and ensuring detailed material lists are prepared for each pole location.

Des Barrett - Underground Supervisor

Des has 16 years experience in the civil industry and has been an Australian resident for the last 9 years. He brings to Gremalco significant experience in the installation of underground electrical and telecommunication infrastructure.

Having previously worked at CLM Infrastructure / Zinfra for 6 years Des has now expanded his capability by delivering a number of sub-transmission electrical projects up to 132kV. The projects included duct installation and cable hauling.

Des ensures that services are located prior to excavation and that each job is delivered in accordance with the SWMS.

Justin Jory - Underground Supervisor

Justin brings to Gremalco years of experience in the underground services sector both as a team leader and operator.

Having previously worked at CLM Infrastructure / Zinfra for 5 years Justin has now expanded his capability by delivering a number of sub-transmission electrical projects up to 132kV. The projects included duct installation and cable hauling.

Paying particular attention to DBYD documents, using locating tools and potholing techniques Justin ensure that every project is delivered safely and productivity targets are met.

Sarah Gallo - Finance & Admin / HR Manager

Sarah has supported Gremalco since July 2003 and expanded her team to successfully manage growth from 6 employees in 2011 to 40 employees today.

Sarah has led the implementation of the Damstra software that allows Gremalco to efficiently manage employee and subcontractor training, fatigue management, plant maintenance, plant risk assessments and project inductions.

Overseeing payroll, employment contracts, workers compensation and company insurances Sarah’s team is key to ensuring smooth running of Gremalco operations.

Souzan Raol - Accounts and Administration

Souzan has been with us for almost 6 years and does a mountain of work to ensure debtors and creditors are managed efficiently.

Souzan has been responsible for large administration teams at Medicare and prior to joining Gremalco in June 2011 spent a number of years at McCourt Dando Civil in a similar role.

Souzan’s diligence in her role ensures the office runs smoothly.

Adrian Baptista - Warehouse/Plant Manager

Adrian spent a number of years at the Zinfra warehouse at Wetherill Park prior to joining Gremalco in September 2016.

Adrian has successfully overseen the setup and move of the Gremalco operations at Marsden Park to our new office and warehouse facilities at Wetherill Park in 2017.

With a rapidly expanding fleet and project base there have been significant challenges. Adrian has been up to the challenge and is a valuable assets to the project teams.
