NEW TRAFFIC LIGHTS

Two new traffic lights were installed on North Community House Road at the access road located in between the Irby/Hayes and Calhoun/Everett parking decks, as well as the access road by the Brigham Building.

RETAIL AT BRIGHAM BUILDING

Northwood has brought retail to the street level of the Brigham Building complex, and new restaurant options will be coming soon.

In late October, Ballantyne Wellness Fair, sponsored by Ballantyne Country Club, featured wellness-related local vendors, free fitness activities, car wellness checks, free health screenings, flu shots, pet adoptions and more. The Pumpkin Carving Contest drew 22 entries. Congratulations to winners:

TENANT ACTIVITIES& EVENTS

Tenant Golf Nights at The Golf Club at Ballantyne continued to be popular from April through early September.

488 cyclists, walkers and runners participated in September’s ADA Tour de Cure, raising over $106,000 for diabetes research, education and advocacy.

The Charlotte Chamber’s Ballantyne Business Bash drew a record crowd to network in June.

September’s 10th annual Isabella Santos 5K/10K Race for Kids Cancer had 3,000 participants and raised $312,000.

Wingate University Ballantyne hosted an Eclipse Watching Party that drew thousands to Ballantyne and a well-attended Community Stargazing Event.

Ballantyne’s two Toastmasters groups continued to attract new members.

Ballantyne Book Club enjoyed monthly gatherings to discuss a variety of captivating books.

David Weekley’s annual Turkey Drive brought in 7,520 pounds of turkey and $7,269, which equals 58,403 pounds of food to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.

Join us for our next free lunch and learn on February 1, where Doug Bacon, managing director of Throwing Words will present Better Business through Strengths.

Through our partnership with the Y, we provided a variety of experiences to energize Ballantyne.

RUN! BALLANTYNEIn May, more than 1,880 runners enjoyed the 13th annual Run! Ballantyne 5K/8K and 1-Mile Fun, raising $71,000 to support the Steele Creek YMCA Afterschool and Camp programs.

TRAINING ON TAPSara’s YMCA hosted Training on Tap to benefit the Y’s Annual Campaign in October. More than 250 people attended the fitness social hour that included various group workouts, music, food trucks and local beer and wine.

SUSTAINABILITY

• Brigham Building achieved LEED® Gold certification.• Ballantyne converted 174 metal halide pole light fixtures to LED to

conserve energy and increase safety.• Ballantyne converted 3,800 T5 lamps across nine parking decks from

fluorescent to LED, reducing energy consumption by 50 percent.

• 47 buildings totaling 4.9 million square feet will receive Energy Star Certification.

• Northwood teamed up with UNCC to allow students to analyze building HVAC system data and identify potential energy-saving control strategies. Northwood plans to build on this relationship.

Northwood Office continues to explore ways to strengthen sustainable efforts within our business community.

• The Ballantyne received an operational excellence award from Marriott for its distinction across all levels of operations, as well as accolades from Conde Nast Traveler, Meetings Today and The Knot, to name a few.

• Gallery Restaurant continued to expand its beverage offerings, including its Ballantyne Barrel Brew Baltic Porter and the second edition of The Ballantyne’s Maker’s Mark Private Select.

• The Spa at Ballantyne unveiled a new menu promoting overall health with results and introduced its custom-branded Carolina Lavender product line, celebrating lavender grown in the region.

• The Golf Club at Ballantyne was recognized as one of top courses in North Carolina by the NC Golf Panel.

• Ballantyne Golf Academy with Dana Rader added heated hitting bays, and Dana Rader was inducted into LPGA’s Teaching & Club Pros Hall of Fame.

• Aloft Charlotte Ballantyne was recognized as the Top Guest Loyalty Score of the Year and Top SPG Enrollment Success Rate for an Aloft Hotel.
