Dear Families and Friends, The 2017-2018 school year was historic. Corpus Christi Catholic School won the coveted Steps for Students David Guite Spirit Award and met an $85,000 annual fund match challenge set by school parents Dee Dee and Gilbert Garcia. This match led to a record setting $201,045 year for the The Fund for Corpus Christi! I'd be remiss not to acknowledge that this atypical year began with unprecedented flooding impacting so many in our school and parish community. We are proud of our students, families, faculty, alumni parents and parish community that rallied together to help school families, parishioners and total strangers impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Among the countless good will deeds, meals were delivered, homes were opened to displaced families, and a great deal of wet debris was removed. In addition, our seventh and eighth grade students helped Braes Interfaith Ministries unload18 wheel trucks with relief supplies. How blessed are we to be a part of such an incredible community! Academically, our students were highly engaged in STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) lessons. CCCS faculty used a variety of pedagogies and methodologies to integrate these disciplines across the curriculum, immersing our students in learning, promoting problem solving and creative thinking. Research based professional development for our faculty took place in the summer and continued through the school year. In addition to our middle school scholars receiving Chromebooks as a learning tool, our students enjoyed participating in activities reinforcing academics, spirituality, social skills and physical development. Commitment to learning, collaboration and critical thinking enabled scholars to do an outstanding job of representing Corpus Christi Catholic School in academic competitions. In athletic competitions, we witnessed dedication to excellence and good sportsmanship. Highlights include: -Archdiocesan Elementary School Science Fair: 1st place, 5th grade student -First Lego League Robotics: 2nd place Champions Award, 8th grade team -State Chess Competition: 10th place, 3rd grade team -St. Pius Academic Rally: Science, English, Art-1st place; Math, Spelling-2nd place; Creative Writing-5th place -University of St. Thomas Essay Contest for Catholic Schools Week: Honorable Mention, 2 awards, 6th grade -Quarter Finals: Varsity Lady Colts Volleyball -Semi Finals: Varsity Co-Ed Soccer, Varsity Boys Basketball -Championship Finals: 2nd place, Varsity Girls Basketball -Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston: TWO new League Records: -Shot Put, 6th Grade Girls category - 4x200 Meter Relay, 6th Grade Girls Relay Team -Small School Division Championship Track: 1st place Champions, Boys Team, Girls Team-consecutive fourth year win for both! As you read this report, we hope that you will gain a greater understanding as to how Corpus Christi Catholic School is making a BIG DIFFERENCE in the lives of tomorrow's leaders. We are grateful for our families, grandparents, alumni, parents of alumni, parishioners and friends who enrich us with time, talents and treasures. We are appreciative of our amazing faculty and staff who tirelessly dedicate their time and energy to our students. We extend much gratitude to each of you for your support of Corpus Christi Catholic School! Thanks to your support, we are able to fulfill our mission of forming disciples of Christ while providing a rigorous, hands-on learning experience for our scholars that's both affordable and accessible. Please pray for us as we continue to pray for you and your families. Peace and many blessings! Mazie McCoy, Principal, Ed.D. Rev. Thomas Smithson, SSS
