Dear Chamber Members,
The Taste of Lakewood is a successful showcase for our restaurants, merchants and the community,
and we host other events throughout the year that offer networking and marketing opportunities. Very
few, however, present the chance to win ONE MILLION DOLLARS! This awesome event is the Annual
Scramble for Lakewood Golf Outing.
This year’s outing is on Monday, August 28 at Avon Oaks Country Club. This is a new course for our
outing, and the scramble makes it fun for all levels of golfers. However, the prizes and contest holes
are what set this golf outing apart. Thanks to Steve Barry Buick, we have a Hole in One Contest for a
2017 Buick Encore, and you can qualify for a Million Dollar Hole in One Contest! There are also
valuable prizes at all of the Par 3 Holes.
We’re teaming up with three great business organizations: Pillars of Lakewood and the Lakewood/
Rocky River Sunrise and Noon Rotary Clubs. This draws golfers from all over and the day becomes an
effective and fun way to connect and build relationships outside of the office.
Not a golfer? Join us for dinner, volunteer or sponsor the event. Sponsorships are available at a
variety of price levels and it’s a smart and easy way to market your business to over 100 professionals
and show support for your local business community.
To sponsor, register for golf, or find out more about the 2017 Annual Scramble for Lakewood, visit the
website at www.lakewoodchamber.org/annual-scramble/ or contact us at 216-226-2900.
See you on the links!

Economic Development Task Force
The City of Lakewood is partnering with LakewoodAlive and the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce on a new commercial space availability
pla.orm that will create a comprehensive list of commercial vacant proper+es that are for sale and lease, and draw more aen+on to
business opportuni+es in Lakewood. The new program is available on the City of Lakewood’s website at
hp://www.onelakewood.com/AvailableProper+es and the link is also on the Chamber website under Economic Development.
Membership & Marketing Task Force
Our fiscal year begins on July 1st and that means it’s time to renew your membership in the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce! You
should have received your annual dues invoice by email or mail in late June. Our goal is to remain relevant to your organization and
provide you with a strong return on your dues investment. In today’s newsletter there are dozens of examples of how we work for our
members every day.
However, to maximize the benefits of your Chamber membership, you have to get involved. Paying your annual dues just isn’t enough.
Make an investment of time and effort in Chamber activities - come to the monthly luncheons, volunteer for a committee, join us at a
Business after Hours or sponsor an event. Simply put, what you get out of Chamber membership is directly relative to what you put
into it.
Legislative & Governmental Affairs Task Force
The proposed amendments to our Constitution & By-laws were approved by a unanimous vote at our general meeting, held at noon
on May 18, 2017 at Roundstone Insurance. With the recent revisions, the Board of Directors will increase from 21 members to 24
members, 3 of whom shall be permanent members. In addition, the Chamber has the option to mail the election ballot electronically
or by regular U.S. mail. For a full copy of the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce Constitution and Bylaws, please contact our office at
216-226-2900.
Education & Programming Task Force
It was so popular and fun, we just have to do it again! The Education Task Force is hosting Lakewood’s
2nd PechaKucha Night on Thursday, September 21st at Around the Corner. This year’s theme is “Tell Us
Your Story”, sponsored by Lakewood Public Library. This fast paced and entertaining evening will feature
some of Lakewood’s most prominent professionals telling us their career stories and entrepreneurial
journeys in the PechaKucha 20x20 format! Stay tuned for more details.
