Alpine wide standardized software for connectivity analysis

Alps-wide toolbox (concepts, documentation, GIS, technical recommendations) for connectivity planning in the AC area

Project output

Objective Identify & connect EC specialists on spatial analysis to establish a common approach within the Alps and critically evaluate existing EC approaches & tools Integrate project results and findings (WPTs) into a spatially explicit, web-based platform, to allow users (specialist&public) to analyse EC in the Alps & to identify & represent conflict zones of diff ESS

Multi-stakeholder cross-border concept for integrated wildlife management in the Alps

Project output

Objective Foundation for a harmonised approach to WM across the Alps. WP2 analyses the differences and ecol. effects of hunting systems, while launching a process of consultation between hunting and related sectors (forest mgrs., wildlife crime units).

ALPARC – Alpine Network of rotected Areas

Integrative spatial planning concept for a common AC&EUSALP biodiversity conservation approach

Project output

Objective Standardised Alps-wide planning procedure of EC & transition areas to EUSALP. Analysis of opportunities for the implementation of EC in the Alps and areas for a smooth transition to Alpine macro-region identifying different types of inner-Alpine SACA (high resolution) and potential for continued unfragmented habitats. Conclude with policy options.

ALPARC – Alpine Network of rotected Areas

Identification of most important barriers around the AC (of different categories) & corridors between EUSALP&AC perimeter. Recommendations for large scale impl. of EC in EUSALP (AG6&7)

Project output

Objective Insure a transition between the core-Alps & EUSALP region in terms of EC. The most important barriers for Alpine EC are around the Alps endangering them to become a genetic island of BD. For general exchange between AC&EUSALP, well-defined strategies are needed to be identified allowing to overcome them.

Alpine conflict resolution strategy and coexistence toolbox Project output

Objective Develop guidelines and mediation formats at policy & operational levels for human-nature conflict resolution for realistic implementation of EC in PRs and SACAs. WPT5 and project observers will act as multipliers and information link to replicate concrete mitigation measures and mediationguidelines to other areas and other types of local conflicts

•  The Alps and their surroundings benefit from abundant ESS as natural resource managers take decisions according to harmonized concepts & common planning tools based on transnational and scientifically based assumptions on EC.

•  SACA serving for EC and WMS purposes are spatially defined according to agreed procedures by involving stakeholders from relevant sectors.

•  Close link between the Alpine nature conservation bodies and EUSALP AG7 is helping to improve EC and BD protection in the MacroReg.
