Let him know how much you appreciate how he supports, teaches, and encourages you, your family or the community. Encourage a young writer between the ages of 5 to17 years old to express why their dad or father figure should be chosen as a TOP DAD! Every young writer who submits an essay will receive a Certificate of Appreciation.
All 50 Essay Winners will receive: • A Certificate of Excellence • An Essay Winners Medallion • A Backpack of school supplies and fun goodies
The Essay Winner and their dad or father figure will be our honored guest at our Top Dads Award Luncheon on JUNE 5, 2016
A Grand Prize will be awarded to one Top Essay Winner in each age group.

Do you have a GREAT dad or father figure (uncle, grandfather, stepfather, brother, teacher, or other great role model)? If you are between the ages of 5- 17 years old, Building Peaceful Families, in partnership with the Santa Clara County Office of Education, invites you to nominate them for our annual TOP DADS AWARD. For submitting the winning essay you will be invited to join your dad/ father figure to a special brunch to honor him as one of the 50 Bay Area “TOP DADS”! You will receive a Certificate of Excellence, a winner’s medallion and some great prizes!
TOP DADS AWARD BRUNCH Sunday, June 5, 2016
11:30am – 3:00pm Milpitas Community Center’s Main Auditorium

Contest Requirements To participate, you must be 5 to 17 years of age and submit a one page essay (300 words or less) describing why your dad/ father figure is special and should be selected as a TOP DAD. Provide some examples: describe your joys, frustrations, or special memories, and tell us how your dad/ father spends time with you and your family. Finally, end with a comment about what qualities your dad/ father figure has that you would like to carry on into your adult life. The essay must be written by you (typed or handwritten) in legible English. Contest entries will be separated into 4 age categories = 5 to 7, 8 to10, 11to13 and 14 to17. All judges decisions will be final. Winners will be notified by phone and/or email; both child and dad/ father figure must attend the brunch.
