2014 Visitor Spending Up in Orange County, Tourism Impact Highlights
• The travel and tourism industry directly employs nearly 1800 in Orange County.
• Total payroll generated by the tourism industry in Orange County was $33.55 million.
• State and local tax revenues from travel to Orange County amounted to $13.34 million, representing a $95.33 tax saving to each county resident.
• Domestic Visitors spending in Orange County in 2014 was $181.65 million. This is a $7.75% increase over 2013, which was the largest in North Carolina.
• The Visitors Bureau budget is designed to grow the economy through the tourism sector.
• Approximately $1 million annually is spent on sales, marketing, publications, a walk-in Visitors Center, on-line marketing and national travel promotions designed to turn the spotlight on Orange County.
