Images help your Twitter posts, or tweets, stand out in the crowd and adding them is easy. If you’ve been following this newsletter, you’ve already learned how to add images to your Pinterest account. (See: www.hypnotistsconvention.com/2016NGHNewsletter2.pdf) Now, let’s master Twitter! As a bonus, we’ve included images you can start sharing immediately on Twitter (they’ll also work on Facebook) to spread the word of the 2016 NGH Convention.

First, log in to your Twitter account. You’ll be taken to your main timeline page. (If you do not have a Twitter account, you can learn how to create one at the Twitter Help Center: https://support.twitter.com/articles/100990)

When you log in to Twitter, you’ll see the “What’s happening?” bar at the top of the page, (with a camera icon to the right). By clicking the camera icon, you’ll jump straight to the picture selection process. Clicking the camera icon opens a file selection window. When the window opens, simply find the photo you want to use, click it, and select “Open.”

Tip: You can add up to 4 pictures to a single tweet. When using the provided 2016 NGH Convention images, use only one photo at a time, allowing the entire image to show.

Adding multiple images creates a small grid of thumbnails that only show a partial preview.

After you’ve added an image, you’ll have 116 characters remaining for adding your own words, hashtags, or links. (Note: Adding more than one picture does not reduce the num-ber of characters you can use. You still have 116 characters, whether you’ve added 1, 2, 3, or 4 pictures.)

Next, write content to support your tweet. Make it interesting so that people will want to read it and want to retweet it to their followers. After you’ve finished writing, click the Tweet button at the bottom of your post. You are done! Your post will look something like this:

You may have noticed that your long hyperlink has been shortened. Twitter does that auto-matically for you.

Twitter Analytics

After you post your tweet, you’ll want to know how people are responding to it. Checking your engagements on Twitter is simple, and there are multiple ways to assess how your posts are being received.

When people like or retweet (share) your tweet, you’ll receive an update in your notifica-tions column, that looks like this:

To check your notifications, go to your top tool bar as shown below:

If you want to view all of the replies, likes, and shares for your tweet, go to your profile (on the home screen) by clicking your profile information in the upper right corner, next to your timeline.)

Clicking your photo or Twitter icon will open a drop-down menu and the option to “View Profile.”

Once you are on your own profile, scroll down and click on your tweet. Click anywhere EXCEPT on the photo, your hashtag, or your link.

For example: clicking on the text “Tweet content” works, or clicking on the blank space to the left of the photo works.

Twitter will show the full details of your tweet in a pop up like the one shown here:

You’ll see the full count of retweets and likes below the content of your tweet, and you’ll see the Twitter icons (user photos) of the people who liked or shared your tweet next to the total count.

You can hover over the Twitter icons of the people who liked or retweeted you to see a snapshot of the user. The snapshot will show you their name, their @ name, bio, number of tweets, number of followers, number of people they’re following, and if you are already connected. You can also click on any of these pictures to go to that person’s full Twitter profile.

If you want to see more detailed statistics, click on the bar graph icon below your tweet as seen here:

A window will open showing you even more details, including historic information on your account’s performance.

Impressions – how many people have seen your tweet

Total engagements – clicks, likes, and retweets, combined as one metric

Media engagements – number of clicks on your media (in this case, your pic-

ture)

Likes – number of people who clicked the ♥ heart button on your tweet

Link clicks – number of people who clicked on a link included in your tweet (in our

example: website.com)

Detail expands – number of people who viewed the pop up window showing the full

details for your tweet

Replies – number of people who directly replied to your tweet

Retweets – number of people who reposted your tweet using the circular arrow but-

ton that allows them to directly share your post with their followers
