Friends of the Riverfront, owner and beneficiary of the Pittsburgh Triathlon, engages with P3R to produce

the 19th edition on August 13-14

PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh Marathon organizers, P3R, will produce the 2016 Pittsburgh Triathlon and

Adventure Race. The 19th edition is scheduled for Saturday & Sunday, August 13-14 and will feature an

adventure race, sprint triathlon and an Olympic-distance triathlon. Proceeds from the event will

continue to benefit the work of Friends of the Riverfront in building and maintaining the Three Rivers

In an 8-year span, P3R has grown to become one of the preeminent lifestyle brands in Pittsburgh and

Matamoros said. “Our mission is to provide a top-quality experience from start-to-finish for the

the Steel City as well as the home to the Steelers and Pirates. It’s also home to world class competition

and we look forward to welcoming world class triathletes!”

“The Pittsburgh Marathon is the gold-standard of events in our region. With direction from the Friends

of the Riverfront board of directors to raise the Pittsburgh Triathlon to that level, it made sense to go to

the source—P3R. We are certain this year’s Triathlon will be the best ever,” said Thomas E. Baxter IV,

executive director of Friends of the Riverfront.

First National Bank will once again serve as Title Sponsor for the event, which is expected to draw more

than 800 participants. On Saturday, August 13, the Sprint Triathlon (600m Swim, 20K Bike, 5K Run) and
