Albert “Les” Disher

October 21, 1939 - March 10, 2016

Les was a 1958 Anthony Wayne Graduate. He went on to aend The Ohio State University and wasan avid OSU and BGSU fan. Les worked as a salesman for Arco, Inc. for 39 years. He re�red in 2011.

Les was a founding member of Community of Christ Lutheran Church in Whitehouse, Ohio where he

served as council president. He was a Waterville Twp. Trustee since 2005. Prior to that he was on the

appeals board and zoning commission and was a member of Ohio Trustees Associa�on. Les served on

many levy campaigns and also with the AW Alumni Associa�on. He was a 2000 AW Hall of Fame

Inductee. Les was a member of AW FFA and he and his wife, Doris, were a founding couple of the FFA

Alumni Associa�on. The AW FFA named Les an Honorary Chapter Farmer. His other memberships

include, Ohio FFA Council, Lucas County Farm Bureau, Lucas County Ag Society, President of Spring

Green Founda�on, former President of Whitehouse A's Model A club, WLERC Model A Club, Toledo,

OH, BGSU Falcon Club and Champion's Circle Member, and the Awake Community Coali�on. He

served on the Ohio 4-H Advisory Board and as a 4-H Advisor for over 45 years. He was also inducted

into the Ohio 4-H Hall of Fame. Les was a season �cket holder for BGSU sports since the late 1970's

and also was a Jr. Falcon sponsor. He married Doris Ann (Fair) October 21, 1961.

Musicians Mission of Mercy – a nonprofit organizaon founded

in Toledo – distributes nutrious food, personal care items and

other life essenals to people in need.And the need is tremendous in Lucas County, where 21% of the

thpopula�on lives below the poverty line (making it the 8 poorest

county out of 88 in Ohio). More than 90,000 people in Lucas

County receive SNAP benefits (formerly “food stamps”). Musicians

Mission of Mercy supplements those benefits with essen�als

SNAP won't cover.

Who Benefits?

We're helping bring food security to low-income individuals and

families, including the elderly, the disabled, veterans and children

aending Title 1 schools – where important feeding programs

aren't available during summer and holiday breaks.YOU also benefit when you get involved – knowing that you've

helped provide life essen�als to communi�es where the need is

New Miracles at Miracle Mile

The Miracle Mile area is undergoing a transforma�on, beginning with the hearts of the community. One major sign

is a food distribu�on center coming soon to 5055 Jackman Road, in space generously donated by Mayfair-

Plymouth Church.

The center is being established to help feed area children and their families in need. Opera�ons will be managed in

partnership by Musicians Mission of Mercy and Mayfair-Plymouth Church.

Stan Massey, Founder and Board President

Stan has been living in the Toledo area since 1983 and loves his community. He co-founded the former Toledo-

Lucas County Furniture Bank to provide home furnishings to underprivileged families at no cost to them. Stan is a

professional writer and (very) amateur guitarist who writes songs of his own some�mes.

2106 LUCAS COUNTY JR. KING & QUEEN CONTESTTuesday, July 12th, 2016 - 1:00p.m. in the Entertainment Tent

A Royal Court consisting of a King and a Queen, and attendants will represent the 2106 LucasCounty Jr. Fair during Fair Week and throughout the year at other fairs, festivals, parades, and other various events and appearances.

Eligibility Any male or female, aged 16 to 18 as of January 1 of the year of the competition is eligible tocompete. Participants must be a member of 4-H, FFA, FCCLA, DECA, Boy Scouts, or GirlScount who believe their involvement in the Lucas Co. Jr. Fair program, community, andleadership endeavors warrants recognition as a model Jr. Fair participant. Applicants must becurrently involved in the Jr. Fair program, be unmarried nor have been married, not have born or fathered any children. Once crowded King or Queen you are ineligible for future competition.

Judging Rules and Criteria1. Contestants must submit a photo, resume, essay, and cover letter to the King and QueenSuperintendent at the Fair Office in Maumee and must be received by June 15, 2016.Late or imcomplete entries will not be accepted.2. Judges will interview the contestants on Wednesday June 29, 2016. interview will start at 6pm.You will receive more detailed information after the applications are received.3. The new King and Queen will be crowned after the public interview of the finalists.4. The new King, Queen and Runner-Ups are expected to maintain the dress and the poise of theposition during the entire time of the fair.5. All decisions of the judges will be final.6. Scoring will be done on the following basis:

Looking for something small? We have a room that will hold 150 people. Not large enough? We have a

building available from May 1- Sept. 30 that will hold 800 people (400 per side).Please Call the Fair Office at 419-893-2127 for pricing and availability

4-H Clubroom

The 4-H Club Room is heated/air condioned and has

recently been updated. It has a full kitchen and you can

bring your own food we do not provide or require

catering. It is the perfect size for birthday pares,

showers, diaper pares, anniversary pares and special

occasions. Need a meeng space? This room can be

rented during the week for a few hours for meengs.

The Arts & Cra�s Building(Green Building)

This building is very rusc with concrete

floors and an open raer ceiling. There are

plenty of doors and ceiling fans for

circulaon. �ou can rent either the east or

west side of the building or the enre

building for larger funcons. This is a perfect

rusc seng for wedding recepons. We do

not provide catering for this building and

there is no kitchen or running water in this

facility. However, there is water close by and

bathrooms adjacent to the building. The

outdoor space that comes with this building

is a nice area to sit and relax.

Our Other OponsWe have other buildings and green space available for corporate

funcons and organizaonal fund raisers. We have something to fit

almost everyone’s needs. Call the Fair Office for more informaon or

to take a tour. Let us help you plan your next event.

Candidacy for the Office of DirectorAny member of the Lucas County Agricultural Society may declare his/her candidacy for theOffice of Director by filing, with the Secretary of the Society, a pe��on signed by ten (10) ormore members of the Society. Pe��on must be delivered to the Fair office on or by theoffice hours as posted. Pe��on forms will be provided by the Secretary of the Society andmay be secured at the Fair office. A criminal background check is required. Contact theFairboard office for addi�onal requirements and details.Elecon Day is September 10, 2016.

Become a Member of the Lucas County Agricultural SocietyAny resident of Lucas County, Ohio, who is of legal age, may become a member of the

Lucas County Agricultural Society by purchasing a membership pass. 2016 membershippasses are on sale through Sunday, July 10, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at the Fairboard Office.

Membership Passes - $20.00 Membership passes en�tle the member to six (6) admissions to the Lucas County Fair andfree parking. Ride stamps must be purchased separately. As a member, you are alsoen�tled to vote at the annual elec�on. Exhibitor Passes - $20.00Exhibitor passes admit the holder into the fair each day and include parking; ride stampsmust be purchased separately.

4-H & FFA Advisor Fair Passes - $3.00 4-H and FFA advisors are en�tled to purchase a pass which will admit holder into the faireach day and include parking; ride stamps must be purchased separately .

Junior Fair 4-H & FFA Member Passes - $2.00Junior Fair members are en�tled to purchase a pass, which will admit the holder into thefair each day and include parking; ride stamps must be purchased separately .

Senior Fair Youth Entries - $3.00All youths entering items into the Senior Fair (Green Building) and are not a 4-H or FFA.

1. Compeon open to the world, except where noted in the rules governing each department.2. Upon applicaon of entries, every effort will be made to help exhibitor properly classify his or herexhibits. Exhibitors must deliver their exhibits to the proper locaons and place them in posion accordingto the Director in Charge.3. All entries shall be made in the name of the bona fide owner.4. Any exhibits or animals deemed unworthy will not be awarded premiums.5. The Board of Directors will take reasonable precauons for the safety of persons and the reservaon oflivestock and arcles on exhibion, but will not be held responsible for any loss or damage that may occur.6. Only entries for classes in this catalogue will be accepted.7. No Senior Fair exhibit is to be removed before 7:00 p.m. on Sunday unless specifically noted in thedepartment rules. Superintendents of all departments or their agents must be on the grounds between8:00 a.m. and 12 midnight if necessary the day preceding the fair, to accept and arrange all exhibits.

8. Only officers of the Agricultural Society shall be informed of the number and kinds of entries beingmade.9. All animals must be in such a place and at such a me that the superintendent in charge shall direct andin accordance with the official program.10. No ribbons or cards received at other fairs will be allowed on display at the Lucas County Fair.11. Any exhibitors who interfere with the judge in any way during the deliberaons will forfeit any and allpremiums that may be awarded them.12. Any exhibitor lodging a protest must first deposit $50.00 (non refundable) with the Secretary, whichwill be forfeited to the Society, if protest is not sustained. All protests must be in wring, signed by theprotester, and if it relates to the award, must be presented on the day the awards are made. The Board ofDirectors will hear all protests, and their decision shall be final.13. The Board of Directors reserves the right to pro-rate premiums according to funds.

14. At the discreon of the Fair Board, all premiums for all departments will be mailed, as soon a�er thefair as possible.15. When the Society contracts to give exclusive privileges to any party to sell any arcle upon the groundsduring the fair, the Society only obligates itself use diligence to prevent any infringement on said right, butwill not be responsible for any violaon of said right. Pares owning privileges and knowing of anyinfringement of same must serve wrien noce to the Secretary, giving names and witnesses.16. Holders of concessions are themselves liable for any infracons of law and have no claim on the LucasCounty Agricultural Society for refunds of fees paid.17. Posively no bicycles or skateboards allowed on the fairgrounds during the Fair.18. No alcoholic beverages will be allowed on the fairgrounds other than in the designated area.19. Dogs must be on a leash at all mes while on the fairgrounds. DOGS ARE ONLY ALLOWED WITHIN THECAMPSITE AREAS! NO ANIMALS/PETS ARE ALLOWED OUTSIDE OF THE CAMPGROUND AREA. Serviceanimals will be authorized as permied by law.20. No trailers are allowed on the grounds unless: a. They have a permit to be on the grounds. b. 23. A professional exterminator hired by the Lucas County Agricultural Society sprays all buildings. No oneis authorized to spray any building other than the professional hired by the Fair Board. Any other personspraying in the buildings accepts full liability for their acons and releases the Fair Board.24. It is not the Lucas County Agricultural Society's intent to give exclusive privileges to anyone.25. Any exhibitor who insults an employee of the Society, a Director or a judge shall forfeit all premiumsand shall be excluded from exhibing in the future.26. Persons judging will not be allowed to exhibit in the departments they are judging.27. If errors occur in the Official Fair Program and Premium Book, the Fair Board Execuve Commieereserves the right to make awards in accordance with correctly stated premiums of similar classes.Decisions of this commiee shall be final.28. Premiums are awarded according to the Judge's sheets, which are turned in aer judging. Any disputeby an exhibitor should be made to the director in charge of the department. If the dispute cannot be

seled, the exhibitor may send a leer to the President, lisng the details, within sixty (60) days of the lastday of the fair.29. All exhibitors, including Junior Fair, will be sober and orderly at all mes. Any violaon to this rule shallwarrant withholding of premiums and possible banning from future showing at the Lucas County Fair.30. Violaon of any of the General Rules and Regulaons, misstatement of facts, or discourteous conducttoward a judge, director, or any fair employee, will exclude the exhibitor or concessionaire from the rightto exhibit or have any concessions at future Lucas County Fairs.

Exhibitors and Concessionaires Rules and Regulaons

1. Every exhibitor must have an exhibitor or membership cket. Membership ckets can only bepurchased by exhibitors living in Lucas County and will admit exhibitor and car into fairgrounds each day ofthe fair. An exhibitor cket admits the exhibitor and car into the fairground six (6) mes.

2. All exhibitor ckets should be purchased prior to Monday, July 11, 2016.3. A $4.00 worker's cket (pass) can be purchased throughout the week of the fair. All concessionairesmust have ckets for all workers, including waitresses, waiters, cashiers, sales people, etc.4. All food concessionaires must have valid County �ealth Cerficates and all delivery trucks must have ascker adming driver and truck only to the grounds before 10:30 a.m. each day.5. Trucks should enter the grounds at the South gate located on Key Street. With proper credenals, trucksckers may be purchased at the fair office.6. It is mandatory for people staying on the fairgrounds in vehicles of any kind, to register at the fair officeupon arrival. A camping fee is charged and a permit will be issued to display at all mes.

In order to obtain a camping permit and to camp on the fairgrounds during the Lucas County Fair, you must be an exhibitor in theSenior Fair, an Advisor with members exhibing at Jr. Livestock or Jr. Horse shows, or an exhibitor in the Jr. Fair Livestock or Jr. FairHorse Shows, with a legal guardian staying with you. You must also have purchased at least one membership or weekly pass. Anyoneplanning to camp in a specific locaon horse, livestock, small animals) on the fairgrounds during the fair must get permission fromthe Director in Charge of the department. Camping/vehicle passes can only be purchased at the fair office prior to parking thecamper/vehicle or pitching the tent. Camping/vehicle passes will be available upon meeng County regulaon. Campers, trailers andtents used for living purposes during the Lucas County Fair must be put in designated areas. Idenficaon will be issued and must bedisplayed on camper, vehicle or tent where it can always be seen.

1. Anyone purchasing a camper permit must be at least 21 years of age, must also be a member in good standing of the

Lucas County Agricultural Society and must be the person staying at the campsite and camp at their site each night of the

fair.

2. Anyone 20 years and under planning to camp must have at least one legal guardian in each camper, vehicle or tent usedfor the purpose of overnight camping.

3. No gray water is to be discharged on the ground, all discharge valves are to be closed and capped.

4. Sanitary waste is to be discharged only at the disposal staon when you leave the grounds or in an approved portable

tank made to transport waste from your site.

5. There is a 12:00 midnight curfew for the Lucas County Fair. This curfew will be strictly enforced.

6. No alcoholic beverages or wood fires are permi�ed at any me.

7. When parking a camper the following clearances must be checked prior to disconnecng from the towing vehicle:

a. From the back of the camper to a fence or building ten (10) feet

b. From the side of the camper, slide out, bump out to the side lot line five (5) feet and campers shall be at least ten

(10) feet apart

8. No livestock trailers are permi�ed in any camping areas. Camping vehicles and tents may not be brought to the

fairgrounds before Saturday, July 11 or as determined by the Director in Charge. All campsites must be kept clean and

orderly. Tables and benches belonging to the Fair Board are not to be moved by anyone other than Fair employees.9. The camp ground road will be closed during rain and inclement weather.

The Lucas County Fair Board reserves the right to tow any vehicle from the grounds at owner's expense and risk for failure to complywith any of the above rules. Any changes in camping areas, distances between campers, etc. will be posted in the fair office. Anyonefound in violaon of the Camping & �arking Regulaons will not be permied to camp at the following year's fair. Any parcipants,vendors or patrons of the Lucas County Fair who will be using a golf cart or similar style or form of transportaon on the fairgroundsare required to register your vehicle in the fair board office. You will need to show proof of insurance and purchase a $25.00 permitfor the week of the fair. With this permit, you will agree to accept full responsibility for any damage caused by any driver of yourvehicle. The person who purchases this permit is to be the sole driver of this transportaon during the week of the fair. No form oftransportaon is allowed on the midway or in high traffic areas while the fair is open. Any violaons of these condions will result inremoval from the fairgrounds and your permit and fee are forfeited for the remainder of the fair. Failure to register will result invehicle removal from the fairgrounds.

recognized owner. It does not refer to the animal's handler, rider, or driver.Ÿ Please read and abide to the State of Ohio Inspecon and �ealth Requirements of

Livestock Exhibited in Ohio located in this fair book.Ÿ Trailers used for feed and/or supplies may not take up more than one parking space along

the east fence line.Ÿ All exhibitors must enter through the south gate of the fairgrounds nearest the railroad

tracks on Key St. Full me exhibitors are to be in place by Monday (prior to opening day)by 8pm through Sunday close of fair at 8pm.

Ÿ All ponies/horses must show. ALL enter at their own risk. Youth must haveparent/guardian's approval .

Ÿ Animals are NOT permied on the roadways around the fair grounds at any me.

Arena Rules:

Ÿ All animals must be led to and from the arena by an able person.Ÿ Equine may be turned out in the arena between the hours of 6am-10am. All horses must

be supervised by owner or exhibitor ringside, with all gates locked/chained shut. This is aprivilege.

Ÿ Please respect the need for mulple equine to be turned out in this me slot. Please turnout for a maximum me of 15 minutes per two compable equine.

Ÿ Equine being ridden or shown have the right-a-way to the arena with no excepons.Mulple departments use the arena, please respect the use for an event or show.

Ÿ Equine maybe removed from the arena at the discreon of the show management orLCAS board of director(s).

Stall Rules:

Ÿ All stalls (including feed and grooming) will have a $5 fee for the week with LCASmembership or exhibitor's pass.

Ÿ There will be a Tack Room fee of $25.Ÿ “Week” as being used here means Saturday prior to the opening of the LCF through

Sunday day of fair closing.Ÿ All one day exhibitors are to pay a $5 fee upon arrivalŸ The one day exhibitor who does not use a stall in the barn is eligible for the fee ($5) to be

Rules:1. The orcultural Department is located in the green building.

2. All enries mtust be grown by the exhibitor.3. No more than two (2) entries per class, per person.4. Due to the early fair date, Field & Specialty crops may be from the preceding year.5. Due to the 6-day fair, please aempt to keep your horcultural exhibits as fresh looking aspossible for the duraon of the fair.6. Exhibitors must furnish name and/or variety on a 1” x 2” card for entry.7. All grain will be shown in a clear, wide-mouth 1-quart jar, furnished by the exhibitor.

Entry Deadline/Arrival Time:All exhibits are to be brought into the green Arts and Cras �uilding on Tuesday between Noon and6:00 p.m. and must be removed on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. Pre-registraon is highly encouraged tohelp speed up the check-in process.

Guidelines for Horcultural Judging:Uniformity – Specimens should be uniform in size, shape and color. An exhibit that includes averagespecimens and one exceponal specimen will not score as high as an exhibit of four averagespecimens.

Freedom from Defect – Specimens selected for exhibits should be free from defects, such as insectinjury, disease injury, growth cracks, greening, mechanical injury and shriveling. Maturity – maturespecimens are desirable, except when specified.

Size – Larger sized specimens generally rank higher than smaller sized specimens of the samequality.

True to Variety Name – Each specimen selected should be true to the name and characteriscs ofthe variety being displayed.

Cleanliness – All specimens should be clean. se a so cloth or a so brush for this purpose.Vegetables should not be washed unless necessary to remove dirt. Vegetables should not be waxedor polished.

Presentaon – Exhibitors can add to the aracveness of their exhibit by arranging the specimensneatly. Awards will be based upon how an exhibit compares to other exhibits within its class.

· 1 teaspoon salt

· 1 tablespoon vanilla extract· 4 large eggs

· 1 1/2 cups King Arthur Unbleached All-Purpose Flour

· 2 cups chocolate chips

· 1 cup chopped nuts, oponal

Instrucons

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 10" x 15" jelly roll pan or a 9" x 13" pan. For

guaranteed easy removal of the brownies, line the greased pan with parchment, and grease the

parchment.

2. In a microwave-safe bowl, or in a saucepan set over low heat, melt the buer.3. Add the sugar, srring to combine. Remove from heat.

4. Sr in the cocoa, espresso powder, salt, baking powder, and vanilla.

5. Whisk in the eggs, srring unl smooth.

6. Add the flour, chips, and oponal nuts, again srring unl smooth.

7. Spoon the baer into the prepared pan.

8. Bake the brownies for 28 to 34 minutes, unl a cake tester inserted into the center comes out

clean. The brownies should feel set on the edges, and barely set in the center.

9. Remove the brownies from the oven, and cool for at least 1 hour before cung.

10. Use a 1 1/2" round cuer to cut as many circles as possible (about 46) out of the brownies in a

10" x 15" pan. You'll get about 38 from a 9" x 13" pan. Wrap well; enjoy the le�over scraps.

11. Just before serving, garnish the brownies with whipped cream, shaved chocolate, and a dusng of

espresso powder.

growth cracks, yellowing and wilng.

3. Maturity; All flowers should be at the best stage for immediate displaying when they are exhibited. Under-mature or over-

mature specimens are not desired.

4. Size; Average sized specimens rank higher than extremely large or extremely small specimens.

5. True to Variety Name; Each specimen should be true to the name and characteriscs of the variety being displayed.6. Cleanliness; All specimens should be clean.

Group Garden ProjectCalling All Community Gardens, Garden Clubs, and more! This project is designed as a group project to highlight

what is “growing” in Lucas County.

Gardeners can show-off what is happening in their garden using drawings,plants, photos, garden art, or any combinaon. �e creae! The display area

can range from 3 feet by 3 feet – 10 feet by 10 feet, or any size in between.The display can be placed indoors or outdoors, the group's choice.

No maer the number of gardeners in the group, this project should beentered as a group with one entry fee.

We hope this will become a yearly offering and the winners will be recognizedon a plaque displayed year round at Toledo GROWS's Robert J. Anderson

Urban Agriculture Center.

Exhibion Rules: All Ohio State Livestock Exhibion mandatory rules will be followed.

1. Members must par�cipate according to General Junior Fair Rules and Junior Fair LivestockExhibi�on Rules. All exhibitors and one parent must aend a mandatory Quality Assurance programprior to June 14. Market shows are par�al terminal and exhibitors must complete drug use no�fica�onforms on each market animal and turn them in to the Director in Charge at weigh-in.a.) Any exhibitor who has been subjected to disciplinary measures by the Agricultural Society and hasnot fulfilled them will be ineligible to exhibit at theLucas County Fair.

2. Any youth enrolled in voca�onal home economics or agricultural educa�on in school may alsoenroll in 4-H club work, provided the 4-H project is not the same.a.) Eligibility for 4-H membership begins when a child is enrolled in kindergarten and is age 5 as ofJanuary 1 of the current year (Cloverbuds). Membership to the 4-H club program begins when a childis enrolled in 3rd grade and is at least age 8 as of January 1 of the current year. Ohio 4-H membershipends December 31 of the year in which an individual aains the age

of 19. Membership begins when an eligible individual is enrolled in a club or group that is under thedirec�on of a trained adult who has completed the OSUE volunteer selec�on process, and that iswithin the scope of Ohio State University Extension.

3. Proof of Ownership - All exhibitors are responsible for complete ownership and showing rights asevidence by a bill of sale or registra�on papers. Exhibitors are required to care and train their animalsas outlined in their project books.

This bill of sale will need to be brought with youwhen you check in your animals on Sunday. A department head will have the opportunity to makehome visits during the dura�on of any project with prior no�fica�on of the exhibitor and their family.Tagging costs of $1.00 per animal will be deducted from the exhibitors auc�on check.

5. Junior Fair Entry Forms - All Jr. Fair livestock entry forms must be postmarked by May 23. They maybe submied to: Jr. Fair Livestock Director; 1406 Key Street; Maumee, OH 4353. Addi�onally, eachexhibitor must submit their social security number on the provided Exhibitor Informa�on Form fromtheir 4H advisor or one received at 2016 Quality Assurance. Lucas County Agricultural Society. The animals presented for exhibion must show no symptoms orevidence of an infecous or contagious disease. Species specific regulaons appear in the departmentrules. Copies of the ODA Rules are available from the Senior Fair Director in Charge of Junior FairLivestock and have been given to all advisors or their designees at LAB Meengs. �here required, thehealth cerficate must be shown before the animal may be unloaded.

9. Arrival Time - All livestock exhibits must be completed and in place in Junior Fair Livestock Barn onSunday, the week of fair, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. All livestock will enter through the southentrance on Key Street and will be examined by the vet Sunday evening.

10. Pen Assignments - Shall be made by the Junior/Senior Fair Board Director in Charge of thatdepartment prior to the me the livestock are brought in. The exhibitor may not make pen changeswithout the permission of the Senior Fair Board Director or Department Head.

11. Livestock Exhibitor Responsibiliesa. Each department official will expect courteous and orderly conduct by the exhibitorsand their aendants. Harassment, profanity or unsportsmanlike conduct toward fairofficials, judges, show manager, help or exhibitors will not be tolerated.b. Each livestock exhibitor shall furnish his/her own feed and bedding as required byanimal. Only wood chips or mulch may be used as bedding; straw bedding is notpermi�ed for any livestock animal. c. All animals should be fed and watered before 11:00 a.m. each day.d. Livestock on exhibit must be clean, properly cared for, and properly groomed for theduraon of the fair.e. Each exhibitor will assist with cleaning the livestock barn as assigned by the Senior Fair

Board Director in Charge and the Junior Fair Livestock Commiee.f. Only Junior Fair exhibitors should feed, water, train, and groom exhibit animals duringthe Fair with a minimum of help from parents, advisors, family members, and otherLucas County 4-H or FFA members. It is the exhibitor's responsibility to register, inwring, any other persons who assist in the care and preparaon of the animals.g. Exhibitors must be present at the me their animal is judged unless excused inadvance by the Senior Fair Board Director in charge. Only the exhibitors in the class beingshown, Junior Fair Board members in charge, Ringmaster and Judge shall be allowed inthe ring at the me of judging.

11. Livestock Exhibitor Responsibiles Connued...h. When an exhibitor has two projects in the same class, another ac�ve Lucas County 4-H or FFA member may show the animal(s) in the respec�ve market class only.i. Viola�ons of Livestock Exhibitor Responsibili�es are determined by the Senior Fair

Board and Junior Fair Commiee in consulta�on with Junior Fair Department Heads inthe following order:

1. Only one wrien warning will be issued to the exhibitor. Copies provided toparent and advisor.2. Failure to comply with wrien warning may result in any or all of the following:loss of premium, loss of trophies, loss of awards, and/or exemp�on of showing atthe Lucas County Fair for the following year.

12. Official Weigh-In - Junior Fair market sheep, steers, swine, goats, pen of market chickens, turkeys, penof market rabbits, beef feeders and dairy beef feeders weigh-in begins at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, the weekof Fair. Only one weight will be allowed and it will be the official weight. Drug use no�fica�on forms mustbe turned in at weigh-in.

No Re-Weighs will be Allowed - No excepons.

13. All animals must comply with show rules as of 9:00 a.m. Monday morning. Senior Fair BoardDirector in charge will be inspec�ng animals as they cross scales.

14. Showmanship a. Purpose - The purpose of a Showmanship Contest is to encourage young exhibitors toacquire skills and know-how in the handling of animals as well as to obtain informa�onand prac�ce in fing and grooming animals for show.b. Eligibility - Livestock exhibitors are automa�cally enrolled in theirshowmanship classes.c. Showmanship Classes are broken down as follows: Junior - Ages 9-12 as of January 1;

Intermediate - Ages 13-15 as of January 1; Senior - Ages 16-19 as of January 1.d. Each contestant must fit and show his own animal. During the course of the contestexhibitors may be asked by the judge to show some other animal.e. The animal used for showmanship must be entered and shown by the exhibitor inrespec�ve breeding or market class in Junior Fair. Excep�ons will be made in extremecases at the discre�on of the Senior Fair Board Director in charge and the respec�veDepartment Head.f. Dress Code: Showman must wear boots, pants, and a dress shirt. T-shirts are notpermied for all Showmanship Classes.g. Criteria for judging Showmanship Contest - Consider these major points of emphasis:

1. The judge will observe the general all around ability and know-how thecontestant demonstrates in the training and handling of animals, and the manner

in which he/she presents his/her animals.2. The judge will be looking for contestants who demonstrate the know-how tohandle themselves in the show ring.3. The judge will be looking for evidence that the contestants know how to fit andgroom an animal.4. The judge will appraise the contestant's knowledge and use of good show ringequipment as demonstrated by the equipment used and the skill in using it.5. The judge will appraise the extent the contestant demonstrates knowledge ofaccepted show ring prac�ces and customs.

15. Champions - All market animals (steer, sheep, swine, goats, dairy feeder calves, turkeys,rabbit meat pens, and poultry meat pens) that place for Grand and Reserve Champion must beoffered for sale in the Junior Fair Livestock Sale. All Grand and Reserve Champion MarketAnimals will be tested for tampering and/or misrepresentaon of any kind. Grand and Reserve

Champions of the market steer, sheep, swine, and goat classes must be slaughtered pursuantto the Ohio Livestock Tampering Rule.

16. Drug Tesng - The Lucas County Agriculture Society shall have the right to require places 1through 3 in each class of animals, or any other suspected animal, to be subject toexaminaons or tests as prescribed by the Society to determine if a substance has beenadministered to the animal to change the confirmaon or temperament of the animal. Shouldviolaon be discovered a�er the sale, all money shall be returned to the buyer and the animalor carcass shall be returned to the exhibitor.

17. Grievance Procedure –a. Protests must be in wring and signed by party or pares making the protest and filed

with the Senior Fair Board Office by noon of the day following the incident beingprotested. A $50.00 non-refundable fee must accompany the protest.b. Livestock Advisory Board will review the protest with the accused, accuser, and anyother needed areas before reaching a decision.c. A Judge's decision on class placing cannot be protested.

18. In the queson of any rule violaon of any kind, the following due process will be used -The exhibitor and/or pares involved will be quesoned by the Senior Fair Board Director incharge and the respecve Department Head. If it is felt that a rule violaon has occurred, thefair officials will make recommendaons to the Senior Fair Execuve Board. A�er the ExecuveBoard hears the case and recommendaons presented by the fair officials, all pares will havethe right to present the case. Upon hearing the case, the Execuve Board will make a ruling. If

sasfactory evidence is obtained by the Execuve Board that any of the livestock rules havebeen violated, the exhibitor and/or exhibitor's family may be barred from showing any speciesof livestock at the Lucas County Fair for a minimum period of one year or more, to bedetermined by the ruling of the Senior Fair Execuve Board. In case any premium shall havebeen awarded to animals shown in violaon of the rules, the Lucas County Agricultural Societywill require the exhibitor to refund all premiums, trophies, awards, ribbons, and sale moneyabove appraisal price under such violaon. If the carcass of the animal under violaon is foundto be unusable, the exhibitor will be required to take possession of the carcass and refund themarket price of the animal to the purchase involved. The decision of the Senior Fair ExecuveBoard is final. Unless rules violaons are involved, all Championship placings stand.

1. All General Jr. Fair Rules and Jr. Fair Livestock apply to the Jr. Fair Swine Show. All hogs must be in

place by 4:00 p.m. on Sunday of the beginning of Fair Week.

2. Body clipping of exhibion swine: Only the ears and tails may be clipped under 1/2 inch. Theremainder of the body hair cannot be shorter than 1/2 inch. This does include the head and

underline. Any animal in violaon will be disqualified from exhibion and the aucon. The owner

will be responsible for removing the animal at the release me on Sunday night. Swine exhibited

with too short of hair and sold to the packers could endanger the relaonship between them and

the LCAS. All market swine will be checked for hair length prior to weighing at a me that is

convenient for the Department Head and the Director in Charge. Any concerns about a pig's hair

length a�er weighing in will need to be addressed by using the printed grievance procedure as

stated in the Lucas County Fair Premium Book. No clipping of pigs will be allowed once they enter

the fairgrounds. Any person or persons that clip a pig on the fairgrounds property will be subject to

disqualificaon from the show and aucon. This will be strictly enforced. NO EXCEPTIONS.3. Body dressings for exhibion swine: Products such as baby oil, vegetable oils, lard, hand cleaners

and powders are not allowed as dressings for the exhibion. Products such as Sudden Impact,

Swine Shine, Hog Heaven, Final Bloom and water that are labeled for swine are acceptable

dressings for the exhibion.

4. Canes, whips, and plasc pipes are acceptable to drive the hogs with.

5. A total of three swine can be exhibited at the 2016 Fair. A combinaon not to exceed 2 gilts or 2

barrows is allowed. Example would be two gilts and one barrow or two barrows and one gilt. Two

pigs will be eligible to parcipate in the aucon. The remainder will receive the base bidder

price only.

6. 2016 sale order for swine is as follows: Overall Exhibitor, Grand Champion Market Hog, Reserve

Champion Market Hog, remainder of pigs by club as determined in sale rules

7. Valid negave PRV blood test result is not required to exhibit at the 2016 Junior Fair Swine Show.

8. The swine show is not terminal. Only the Grand & Reserve Champion Market Hogs Overall have

to be sold at aucon and harvested

Rules:

1. This contest is open to the Outstanding Showman winners in each of the following livestock

departments: rabbit, poultry, turkey, goat, horse, sheep, beef and swine and the winner of the horse

department.

2. Previous Showmanship Sweepstakes winners are not eligible to compete again, but previous non-

winning par�cipants are eligible.

3. Each par�cipant is allowed to represent only one species of livestock per appearance in the contest.

If the individual has earned the Senior Showmanship �tle in more than one species during the currentfair, he/she will be required to decide which species they want to represent. If the runner-up cannot

compete, the third place individual will then be eligible.th

4. Par�cipants must declare which species they will represent by noon on Friday, July 17 to Senior Fair

Director in Charge- Chris Weimer.

5. The contest will be divided into the eight species using the correct showmanship techniques for

each.

6. All par�cipants will show all eight species using the correct showmanship techniques for each.

7. Each judge will rate the par�cipants on a scale of one to ten, with one being the best and ten the

worst. The par�cipant with the lowest total combined score of the eight species will be the winner of

the contest.

8. In case of a �e, tying par�cipants will draw two animals from one species and show the animals to

break the �e. The species chosen for the �ebreaker cannot be one of the represented species involved

in the �e.

9. Each par�cipant will receive a rosee corresponding with their final placing in the contest.

10. All animals used in the contest will be chosen from the 2015 livestock exhibits. Owner permission

must be obtained before the animal may be used. If a par�cipant's project is to be used in the contest,

the par�cipant will not be allowed to use his or her own project/or a family member's project during

the contest.
