ORLANDO FIREFIGHTERS & RESCUED PETS14-MONTH CALENDAR
2016
THANK YOU TO THE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE ORLANDO FIRE DEPARTMENT
Heroic firefighters save people’s lives and property every single day. What many people don’t know is that Orlando firefighters often rescue dogs, cats and even ducks when they are in danger, providing first aid and saving their lives as well. We could not think of a better partnership to help launch the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando Pet Rescue Fund.
The Orlando Firefighters & Rescued Pets Calendar project would not have been possible without the help of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, City Commissioner Patty Sheehan, and Fire Chief Roderick Williams. Chief Williams says, “Pets are part of our families and the community that we serve. It’s important to have services that help people care for their pets, and services for the pets looking for homes.”
Huge shout out and thanks to Vicki Robles and Ashley Papagni, Public Information Officers for the Orlando Fire Department, the Firefighters at “The Big House,” Station One, the Orlando Fire Museum, and Lake Eola Park. Most importantly, we wish to thank the men and women of the Orlando Fire Department who risk their lives every day – saving people and animals!

THE INAUGURAL ORLANDO FIREFIGHTERS & RESCUED PETS CALENDAR
September 17, 2015
Dear Pet Alliance Supporters,
The Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, the oldest and largest animal welfare organization in Central Florida, is thrilled to partner with the Orlando Fire Department to create the first Orlando Firefighters and Rescued Pets Calendar with proceeds to establish a Pet Rescue Fund. Our goal for the first calendar is to raise $100,000 to provide medical care for pets in income-qualified families, when providing veterinary care means that an animal can stay in a home instead of being relinquished to the animal shelter, part of our community Safety Net.
Adding a celebrity flare to the calendar project is photographer Michael Rueter’s participation. Rueter’s work with animals on sets in challenging environments includes shooting for National Geographic’s Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan and American Humane Association’s Hero Dog Awards show in Hollywood. His book also includes work on the red carpet at the Oscars and Emmys and set work with celebrities Brad Pitt, Jennifer Lopez, Bradley Cooper and Madonna.
The Aveda Institute Orlando students and instructors volunteered their time and talents to provide hair and make-up services on set for the firefighters who participated in the calendar. John Michael Catering & Events donated craft services for all three days of the production. Aloft Hotel Downtown Orlando is the official host hotel for the 2016 Orlando Firefighters & Rescued Pets calendar project, hosting the photographers and the official kick-off party for the Orlando Firefighters & Rescued Pets Calendar.
Post production design services provided by Great Big Circle and our printing partner is Progressive Communications. Unique to this calendar is the addition of augmented reality videos of each firefighter, donated by Appleton Creative, and creating an online community of supporters organized by our fans at Go Big Marketing. Florida-based Pet Supermarket, Reed Nissan, and Stanley Steemer of Central Florida underwrote the production expense for the calendar so 100% of calendar sales benefit animals in need. In addition to online sales, Bloomingdale’s at the Mall at Millenia, Woof Gang Bakery and Pet Supermarket are also pitching in by providing retail space for calendar sales this fall. Our media partner for promoting the calendar project is WFTV and the 9 Family Connection.
We are so excited to deliver this very fun and meaningful calendar to you. The effort to produce the calendar required the support of volunteers and staff from the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, and many community business partners. Please support those businesses that support our important work to save animal lives.
Warmest Regards,
Sean HawkinsVice President Marketing & Philanthropy
The cover model for the Orlando Firefighters & Rescued Pets calendar is Ron Huguenin, a Firefighter - EMT with the Orlando Fire Department. “Watching firefighters as a kid really intrigued me,” says Ron. “It was natural for me to want to become one.” Stella, a sweet little Pekingese mix, was ’saved’ from fire and smoke on the set of the Orlando Firefighters & Rescued Pets calendar photo shoot at Eola House in Lake Eola Park, downtown Orlando.
