Eligibility: Entry is restricted to swimmers registered as competitive swimmers with Swim Natation Canada, who have registered with a club in the Eastern Ontario Region for the 2015-2016 Season and who have met one of the two qualifying methods in the qualifying period between June 30, 2014 and January 19, 2016.

There are two ways of qualifying for this meet: Swimmers can qualify for Eastern Ontario Regional Championships in one of two ways: 1) Achieve an All-Around IM and Free Standard, according to chart below.

2) Achieve at least three Individual Event Standards.

Method 1 – meet IM/Free qualifying standards

10 & Under must qualify in either the 100 IM or 200 IM and 200 FR OR 400 FR

11 & 12 year old swimmers must qualify in both the 200IM and 200 FR OR 400 FR

13 & Over swimmers must qualify in both the 200 IM and 400 FR. Once qualified in the appropriate IM and FR events, swimmers are eligible to compete in ALL events (regardless of individual qualifying standards) up to 7 individual events but are not required to compete in the qualifying IM and/or Free events.

Method 2 – meet Ontario D time standards for any individual event

Swimmers of any age may qualify for the meet in any individual event in which they make the current Ontario D time standards.

Ontario Festival D standards will be used for swimmers 13 & under and Ontario Age Group D standards will be used for swimmers age 14 & over.

There will be no bonus events for swimmers who qualify in this manner EXCEPT the 50 of a stroke if the 100 and 200 Individual (11 & over) / 100 or 200 (10 & under) standard of the stroke are achieved.

Qualifying Times (attached):

2013-2016 Eastern Ontario Regional Qualifying Standards for meet or individual events

2013-2016 Para Swimmer Regional Standards Long Course times must be sent unconverted. When exporting entries from Hy-Tek Team Manager, please check box labeled “Use Unconverted Times”.

Seeding Order: SC times that meet either entry method will be seeded first, followed by LC times. De-qualifying Times:

Swimmers may not race an event in which they have met the Senior National Qualifying Standard (Summer National Times or Trials).

Entry Procedure: Entries must be in Hy-Tek format and submitted through www.swimming.ca. No entries will be accepted directly by meet management. Meet management will use SNC's time validation system to ensure that swimmers have achieved the qualifying requirements. Times not found on the SNC database will be returned to coaches for correction or proof.

Age Groups: Swimmers age is as of the first day of the meet.

Age Groups, Male and Female as listed below: 10 & Under 11 Year Old 12 Year Old 13 /14 Year Old 15 & Over

Entry Limit: Maximum of seven (7) individual events per swimmer (3 per day) plus relays. Please see qualifying standards, as not all swimmers may be eligible for 7 events.

In the event that a session appears likely to go over on time, meet management in

collaboration with the coaches, reserve the right to limit the session length by:

1. Having the 400 Free and/or the 400 IM run as class 2 time trials at the end of the session they are in;

2. Having the slower heats of the 400 Free swim 2 per lane; 3. If over-subscribed, meet management may have events with less than eight

swimmers go straight to finals.

Coaches will be notified at least one week in advance of any changes necessary.

Para-Swimmers:

Swimmers with a disability (Para-Swimmers) are eligible to compete in this meet provided that they have achieved the minimum entry time as included in this meet package. Eligible events include: 50, 100, 200 Free for S1- S5 swimmers, or 50, 100, 400 Free for S6 -S10 swimmers, 50 & 100 Fly, Back and Breast and 150 (S 1-S4) or 200 IM (S5-S14). Para-Swimmers may choose Bonus Swims outside of the aforementioned events. Para-Swimmers will be entered according to time in the morning session. Please designate classification when entering.

There will not be a designated lane for Para-Swimmers during warm-up Para Bonus Swims:

Swimmers qualifying in one event may enter three additional events.

Swimmers qualifying in two events may enter two additional events.

Swimmers qualifying in three or more events may enter one additional event, to a maximum of six individual events.

Distance Events:

Entry times must be submitted for the 800 and 1500 free events. No NT or coaches times will be accepted. Meet manager reserves the right to limit these events to a total of five heats of 800 and five heats of 1500. Swims will be accepted with priority given to the thirteen fastest entry times in each respective age group.

The meet manager will inform all clubs should any entries not be accepted. Swimmers will then be allowed to enter an alternate event.

The 800/1500 free will be multi-age seeded fastest to slowest. Deck Entries: No deck entries or exhibition swims will be permitted. Relay Entries: Each club may enter any number of relay teams per event; however, only two teams per

club will score. When a club enters only one team in a relay, at least three members of the team must be properly entered in an individual event, and the fourth may be entered as “Relay Only”. When a club enters more than one team in a relay event, every member of every relay team must be properly entered in the meet in at least one individual event. Each relay team may include up to two (2) swimmers from a younger age category. No swimmer may compete as a member of more than one relay team in any event.

Scoring: The top 16 swimmers in individual events and the top 8 relays will score team points. Team points: individual events: 20-17-16-15-14-13-12-11-9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1

Team points, relay events: 40-34-32-30-28-26-24-22 Individual points: 5-2-1 (relay points not applicable).

Individual Awards: Individual events: medals for 1st to 3rd, ribbons for 4th to 8th.

Relay events: medals for 1st, ribbons for 2nd and 3rd.

Individual high-point plaque to the top swimmers by age group and gender. Medals for 12 & under time finals events will be awarded on deck during each session as results are available. Medals for 13 & over finals will be awarded on deck during finals, immediately following each event. Top 3 swimmers are encouraged to go to the podium to receive medals following each final.

Team Awards: Overall Team Trophy – the team with the highest number of team points.

Top Small Team Award – the team with the highest number of points, and fewer than 35 registered competitive swimmers as January 01, 2016.

Meet Rules: SNC Rules will apply. The FINA one-start rule will be in effect. SNC warm up

procedures will be in effect at this meet. Individual Events – 13 & over:

All individual events for swimmers 13 & over (except 400 free, 400 IM, 800 free and 1500 free) will be swum as preliminaries and finals.

For prelims, age groups will be combined and circle seeded.

Events with 8 or fewer entries will swim both prelims and finals.

“A” and “B” Finals will be held in events only with 18 or more swimmers entered. Events with fewer than 18 swimmers entered will have “A” finals only.

400 Free and 400 IM will be swum as time finals, seeded slowest to fastest. The top-seeded 8 swimmers in each age group will swim during finals; all others will swim during prelims with age groups combined.

800 Free and 1500 Free will be swum as time finals.

For 800 Free, the top-seeded 8 male and 8 female swimmers will swim during finals. All others will swim during prelims, seeded together, mixed gender (fastest to slowest).

For 1500 Free, the top-seeded 8 swimmers (mixed gender) will swim during finals. All others will swim during prelims, seeded together, mixed gender (fastest to slowest).

Any swimmer who swims in OPEN in one event must swim open the entire meet, and may not compete on any relays other than 15 & over (Open) relays.

Individual Events – 12 & under

All individual events for swimmers 12 & under are time finals. Fastest 8 swimmers by gender and age group (10 & under, 11 and 12) will swim together in 1 heat.

In distance events (400 Free, 400 IM or 800 Free), meet management reserves the right to combine heats of different age groups or genders. For example: If there are 3 boys in one age group and 2 in another for the same event, they will swim together in the same heat separated by 1 lane.

200 Breast, 200 Fly, 400 IM and 800 Free are offered as events in the 12 & under age category only. Swimmers younger than 12 years old may race in these events but will be scored as 12 years & under (not broken out by age.) If a younger swimmer qualifies by Method 1, they do NOT need to meet the 12 & U time to swim the 200 Breast, 200 Fly, 400 IM and 800 Free. Younger swimmers who qualify by Method 2 MUST meet the 12 & U qualifying for the 200 Breast, 200 Fly, 400 IM and 800 Free to swim that event.

1500 Free is offered as an event in the 14 & under age category only. Swimmers younger than 14 years old may race in this event but will be scored as 14 years & under (not broken out by age.) If a younger swimmer qualifies by Method 1, they do NOT need to meet the 14 year old time to swim. Younger swimmers who qualify by Method 2 MUST meet the 14 year old qualifying time for the 1500 free.

100 IM will be offered as an event in the 10 & under age category only.

Relays: All relay events are time finals. Age groups for relay events only will be:

10 and Under

11-12

13-14

15 & Over All 13 & over relays will be swum at the start of finals on Friday and Saturday.

Fastest 8 relay teams by age and gender (13-14, 15 & Over) will swim in one heat. The remaining relay teams will swim together separated by gender.

Fastest 8 relay teams by age and gender (10 & Under, 11-12) will swim in one heat. The remaining relay teams will swim together separated by gender. A swimmer may only swim in one age category of each (Freestyle and Medley) relay. A club may enter unlimited number of relays in each event. Only the top two relays will be scored. Coaches must have relay cards filled in and returned to the Meet Manager 30 minutes prior to the start of the session.

Splits: Any coach requiring a time achieved by a swimmer for a distance shorter than the total distance of the event shall advise the Meet Referee prior to the start of the session so officials can be put into place.

Coach Certification: Only certified, registered coaches are permitted on deck. Coaches’ meeting: The coaches’ meeting will be held on Friday at 9:00 am, during the warm up for Session 1. A second coaches meeting will be held Friday at 1:30 pm, during the warm up for

Session 2.

Officials: Each participating club is asked to provide officials to ensure the success of the meet. All officials must register at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0c45afad22a2fd0-20161

Privacy: Cameras and recording devices will not be allowed on deck at any time during the meet without prior approval from the meet manager. Team Photographers must check in with the meet manager prior to the start of the session and obtain a photographer pass and a wristband prior to being on deck. Swim Suit Rules SNC Policy on Swimwear: Effective Sept 1, 2009, all swimwear worn in swimming competitions sanctioned under the authority of Swimming Canada must conform to the Jan 1, 2010 FINA swimwear approval guidelines as listed below. MATERIAL – The material of swimwear will definitively be constituted only by textile fabric(s). The FINA definition of “textile” currently is: “Material consisting of, natural and/or synthetic, individual and non consolidated yarns used to constitute a fabric by weaving, knitting, and /or braiding”. SHAPE- MEN: swimwear shall not extend above the navel or below the knee. WOMEN: swimwear shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, not extend below the knee. No zippers or other fastening system is allowed. USE- Swimmers shall wear only one swimsuit, taping is not permitted CONSISTENCY- Swimwear effectively manufactured and used shall correspond to and be fully consistent with FINA approved samples. Any modification before use (including impregnation) is prohibited. Moreover, there shall be no variation/ modification for individual swimmers. The competitor must wear only one swimsuit on one or two pieces. No additional items, like armbands or leg bands shall be regarded as part of a swimsuit. Other items covering the body and not part of the swimsuit are prohibited.

Regional Meet Scratch Rules:

13 & over sessions Prelims

There is no penalty for swimmers who miss a heat swim. Distance

Positive check-in is required for all 13 & over distance events (400 Free or IM, 800 and 1500 free). The scratch deadline for these time final events shall be 30 minutes prior to the start of the preliminary session on the day the event is scheduled to begin. This procedure is to ensure the fastest seeded heats in the evening final sessions shall have the full complement of swimmers, with no empty lanes.

Finals

The scratch deadline for all final events shall be 30 minutes following the posting of results after each preliminary event. A swimmer may make a declaration of ‘INTENT TO SCRATCH’ within 30 minutes after the posting of each preliminary event results.

The final decision to scratch or not scratch must be reported back to the clerk of course within 30 minutes of the swimmer’s last individual preliminary event of that session.

A swimmer who fails to return to the clerk of course to make a final decision on the intent to scratch from that event in finals will be seeded into the final for that event.

Failure to participate in an individual final, leg of a relay final or in a distance (400 Free or IM, 800 and 1500 free) time final event run during finals without meet management’s knowledge or consent will result in a $100.00 fine for each offence. Payment is due to BYST. Failure to pay before the swimmer’s next event will exclude the swimmer from any further participation in the meet.

A swimmer who fails to scratch from an event finals but will not swim the rest of the meet will not be penalized.

12 & under Time Final sessions

Positive check-in for all swimmers is required 30 minutes prior to the start of the 12 & under time finals session to ensure the fastest heat of each age group is full.

2013-2016 Eastern Ontario Regional Standards

Swimmers can qualify for Eastern Ontario Regional Championships in one of two ways:

1) Achieve an All-Around IM and Free Standard, according to chart below. This allows for entry into any events at the meet. OR

2) Achieve at least three Individual Event Standards. This allows for entry in only the events in which the standard was achieved, or the 50 of a stroke if the 100 and 200 (11 yrs and older)/100 or 200 (10 & Under) Individual Standard of the stroke are achieved.

Time Standards are derived from Swim Ontario's Standards. 13 & Under standards are based on Swim Ontario's Festivals D Standards while 14 & Over standards are based on Swim Ontario's Provincial D Standards. These standards will be updated on the quadrennial, or as the Swim

Ontario Standards are updated. All entry times must be valid, and NT entries are not permitted.
